You could've just come home and hook it up. You had to go across the street to get a 2.4GHZ signal. You had to play with it for a long while & then parts of it would drop. We took days work- ing with it. Ended up taking it back to store.

      Hi EduardoA.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

We understand the importance of having clear video of visitors at your door. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell 3 are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We would love the opportunity to work with you to ensure your device is working as intended, resolving the concern you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the video quality you are experiencing is not what you expected. The Ring Video Doorbell 3 provides 1080p HD video with night vision. Poor wifi signal strength from your router could be the culprit for your video problems. One thing we recommend is checking the wifi speeds your device may be receiving. To run a wifi speed test:

Turn off your mobile phone’s cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device.
      Open the Ring app.
      Tap the menu (☰).
      Tap Devices.
      Select your device.
      Tap Device Health.
Under Tools, tap Test Your Wifi.
Tap Start to run a test that will measure your upload and download speeds.
Both upload and download speeds should be at least 1 Mbps or greater, but 2 Mbps or above is ideal.
Check the numbers on your wifi speed test. If either your upload or download speed is below 1 Mbps, then you might consider replacing your router (especially if it's older than five years). Contact your internet service provider to learn more about getting newer equipment and faster speeds.

I live in an apartment and my router is upstairs. I got the device to connect no problem when I was closer to the router but as soon as I went more than 15 feet away it would disconnect. I’m not sure why because I have a different brand camera further away and it works no problem. Had to return.

Honestly if you don’t pay for the monthly subscription it’s not even worth having it just goes off every time a car passes and doesn’t keep the records of recordings because ring wants you to pay for your recordings monthly so think about that.

This new version at least works, which the Ring 2 never did for us. However, the subscription requirement in order to view past videos is a rip-off, and it has recently detected motion when there appeared to be no one near the door. Overall, I'm satisfied, but it could be much better.

      Hello HughW,
Thank you so much for showing interest in our products and desiring to have more information regarding the optional Ring Protect Plan subscription. We want to ensure that we can answer any questions you may have concerning how the Ring Protect Plans work and how to save/share your videos, when necessary.

Ring gives customers a complimentary 30-day trial with each new Ring device. After the 30-days, you can choose if you would like to purchase a Ring Protect Plan or not. A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan, you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device. I am giving it a three because the battery life is way too short. I have to constantly recharge the batteries and it takes hours to do so. If you want to purchase one or two or three make sure you buy extra batteries keep them charged then you can switch out batteries without down time.

      Hello Puddin,

Thank you for leaving a review. We understand how important it is to ensure that the battery is holding its proper charge and how cumbersome recharging the batteries can be. Please know that we are here to resolve these concerns with you today.

The Ring Video Doorbell 3 followed the Ring Video Doorbell 2 (now discontinued) as the next generation of Ring doorbell. In addition to new video features such as Near Zone functionality, the Video Doorbell 3 has dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wifi connectivity and improved energy efficiency.

After reading your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Video Doorbell 3 keeping a charge. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. This article will detail some of the factors that may cause your battery to require more frequent recharges: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773.

Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that you have the best possible experience with your products and services. Home security is a 24-hour a day, seven day-a-week business, and Ring knows the importance of having access to your devices at the times you need them most. Setup was really hard. The doorbell chime still doesn’t work because we need a part that doesn’t come with the device. If you get one of these, disregard the printed directions that come with the device. Download the app on your phone before you do anything else and try to follow those directions. Good luck. You’ll need a barcode from the back of the device to complete the setup. Don’t mount it on your home until you have completed the that connection with the app. Once you complete setup in the right order, it works OK just no doorbell chime inside the house.

      Hello JollyPack98,

This device is designed to be a simple DIY home security solution. It is our top priority to ensure, as a consumer, you have the tools and information you need to complete your installation.

You are correct, the QR code or MAC ID of your device can be found on the back of your Ring Doorbell. This code can also be found on the product packaging or on the Quick Start Guide that came with your device. If you experience issues with scanning the QR code or MAC ID barcode, you can select “Set Up Without Scanning” and select “Doorbell” to continue through the setup process within the Ring app.
