      Hello Momof2,

Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with our products. We really appreciate your feedback. Our team is always striving to improve our products and their performance.

The more events captured by your Ring Doorbell, the more your battery is used to power the live HD Video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the Live View to look or speak through your camera. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, adjust the motion frequency to best fit your needs, or adjust the direction of your Ring device.

      Hello quality,

The Ring Video Doorbell 3 is designed to provide a quick and easy in-app setup process. We understand the importance of a seamless setup, as this allows you to start using your Ring device right away. We strive to deliver quality devices that will serve you in the long run as we understand that you will be relying on them to keep you updated on activity at your home.

While not comprehensive, the three most common causes of failure to complete the setup (after entering an incorrect wifi password) are your Ring device being too far from your wifi router, having a problem with your internet connection, or some type of issue related to your wifi modem or router. During the setup it's best to have the Ring Doorbell 3 in the same room as your router.

We appreciate the time you've invested into getting your doorbell online. You have many choices when it comes to your home security, and we appreciate you selecting Ring. Ensuring you have the best experience with our product is our top priority. Please visit our community forum at https://community.ring.com/, as we have some additional solutions we'd love to share with you.

      Thank you,

      Hello ClarenceCarter,

Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring Video Doorbell 3 experience with us directly. We appreciate it. Your experience with Ring is our top priority. We understand the importance of having your home security devices work properly, and we would like to offer our help! We agree that getting the most life from your Ring battery is essential, so that it can provide you with around-the-clock coverage.

While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring Doorbell 3, the more your battery is used to power the live HD video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the live view to look or speak through your camera. As most of our Ring Doorbells are powered by lithium-ion batteries, it's important to note that at temperatures below 40 °F, the battery is less effective at holding a charge and may require more frequent recharges. Here is a helpful article that details more steps that can be taken to increase time between battery recharges: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773-The-Battery-In-My-Ring-Device-Seems-to-Drain-Too-Fast.

We appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring Doorbell 3 device to secure your home and know it's important that it meets your needs and expectations. For any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out on our community forum at https://community.ring.com/.

Keeps installing update and won't work

I bought the first one about a week ago. It had a strong internet connection but every few minutes it says it's installing an up date and I can't view anything while it does this. I was on the phone with Ring support for about an hour troubleshooting. At the end of the call the lady said it was a firmware issue and she'd have to look into it and would get back to me. About a day or so later I got an email from support that had the same troubleshooting steps that were already done numerous times. I took it back to Best Buy and exchanged it. The second one is doing the exact same thing. Strong internet connection and works for less than 5 minutes then says it's installing an update and I can't access anything. I'm taking it back to Best Buy tomorrow and getting my money back. Very disappointed. Heard so many good things about these cameras.

      Hi KellyS.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

We understand how important it is for your Ring Video Doorbell 3 to complete its firmware update to install the latest features and security. Ring devices are constantly being updated to improve their efficiency, add new features, or upgrade their security. We would love the opportunity to work with you to ensure you are able to successfully set up your Ring Video Doorbell 3.

It sounds like your device was unable to complete its firmware update after you set it up. Firmware updates rely on a strong signal between your device and the wifi router; if your system has a weak signal, firmware updates may take longer or fail.We recommend bringing your device next to your router to ensure a strong connection until the update completes. During this process, you will be unable to control or adjust your Ring Video Doorbell. Your devices may also flash or turn on momentarily after a firmware update, but they will return to the state they were in before the update is complete. During a device firmware update, the lights on the device may flash. If you notice this happening, do not unplug or turn off your device or attempt to adjust your system until the firmware update is finished. Visit our support center for additional information: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041637332-Updating-the-Firmware-on-your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-3.

      Hi Jessy,

We, too, feel that having a quick and seamless connection to your Live View is critical to your home security. If you are experiencing delays when connecting to video or receiving notifications, it is important to remember that the internet speed coming to your house is not the same as the wireless connection around your house, and that many factors can cause issues with wireless performance.

This first step we suggest is designed to see if a poor wifi signal from your router could be the culprit. You'll be bringing your Ring Video Doorbell 3 inside close to your router to minimize any interference from your home's architecture or distance. To run the test, please follow the steps below.

-Open your Ring app on your smartphone, tablet, or PC.
-Be sure you've turned off your cellular data and connected to the same wifi network as your Ring device.
-Trigger a motion event or ring the bell on your Ring device.
-Answer the event and examine the resulting video.

The results you may see will help determine where the source of concern is coming from. If the video connects quickly, this will determine an issue with either distance or interference. A wifi extender or mesh network will help resolve this concern. If you still continue to have issues, we may need to look at a few other instances such as bandwidth or router settings.

We would love to hear from you directly on our Community Page, so to ensure you are receiving assistance in a timely manner. Please reach out, here: https://community.ring.com/.

      Hello Jane,

Ring understands the importance of having your Ring Video Doorbell 3 online and working so you can keep your home secure. We know you rely on your Ring Video Doorbell 3 to keep your home secure. We will be more than happy to help you with this today.

t sounds like the Motion Frequency feature may not have been set up properly for your environment within the Ring App. Ring's Motion Frequency algorithm is an internal program that runs inside of your Ring device. It analyzes the traffic patterns of detected motions, looking for repetitive patterns. When it detects such a pattern, it essentially "sleeps" your device for a certain period of time, cutting down the number of motion alerts you'll get from the same set of stimuli. The more time a repetitive pattern of motion continues, the longer the time between issuing motion alerts.

Please reach out to us directly via our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ so we can find a solution to best resolve this and ensure the device is functioning as it was intended.

      Hello WindowMount,

We agree it's vital that your Ring Doorbell 3 detect accurate motion within the monitored zones, so you can be alerted when someone is at your home. This is Ring's next-generation doorbell designed with improved motion detection, including the all new near zone. The near zone feature activates a horizontal motion zone in areas only 12 to 15 feet in front of your camera. Here are a few pro-tips for making the most of the motion detection feature on your Ring Doorbell 3.

      1. Utilize the Near Zone feature.
      2. Mount the Ring Doorbell 3 at about 48 inches (1.22 m) from the ground.
      3. If you subscribe to a Ring Protect Plan, you can turn on People Only Mode within the Motion Settings to reduce the number of notifications you receive so that you only receive motion alerts caused by humans.
      4. Set the Motion Frequency setting to 'Frequently', to ensure all activity is captured.

We would love the opportunity to assist with optimizing the motion settings. We appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring Doorbell 3 to secure your home and know it’s important that it meets your needs and expectations. Hello Garza,
We appreciate you for bringing your Ring Video Doorbell 3 experience to our attention. The Ring Video Doorbell 3 is the next generation of Ring Video Doorbell following the Ring Video Doorbell 2, and the start of enhanced security around your entire property. With Ring Video Doorbell 3, you’ll always be connected to your home, so you can watch over your property and answer the door from anywhere. Please know that it is a priority for us to be of assistance and find a resolution to your concern. After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Video Doorbell 3 is having trouble staying connected to your home wifi. When this occurs, we recommend rebooting your wifi modem and router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest working devices in your house, for optimal performance, you should reboot them about once a month. To reboot routers or modems, follow the instructions below:
Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don’t just turn it off).
If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them.
Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug them back in.
Wait for your internet to be restored.
Here is a helpful article which walks you though additional steps to take if the issue still persists for you after your modem/router reboot: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217240386-In-app-Setup-Failing-Repeatedly.

We recommend adjusting your motion settings and zones. Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring device to cover while ignoring everything outside that area. By selecting Motion Zones to cover only the areas you want the Ring device to monitor, you can effectively monitor the area you want as well as reduce the number of "false positive" motion alerts. Takes a long time to load up on my phone when someone is at the back door. We even use a booster.

      Hi Beegee,

We, too, feel that having a quick and seamless connection to your Live View is critical to your home security. If you are experiencing delays when connecting to video or receiving notifications, it is important to remember that the internet speed coming to your house is not the same as the wireless connection around your house, and that many factors may cause issues with wireless performance.

We understand you've added a wifi extender which, in most cases, is a great solution for extending your network coverage. There are a few other simple, straightforward, solutions we would love to explore with you. This first step we suggest is designed to see if a poor wifi signal from your router could be the culprit. You'll need to bring your Ring Doorbell 3 inside, closer to your router, to minimize any interference from your home's architecture or distance. To run the test, please follow the steps below:

      1. Open your Ring app on your smartphone or tablet
      2. Ensure that you have turned off your cellular data, and are connected to the same wifi network as your Ring device.
      3. Trigger a motion event or ring the bell on your Ring device.
      4. Answer the event from your connected device, and examine the resulting video.

A few potential outcomes could be as follows: If you are connected to the video without delay when it's next to the router, the culprit is most likely a disruption occurring due to the distance between your router and the current location of your Ring doorbell. Additionally, If the connection issues persist, this may be contributed to a network setting, or your wifi speeds (bandwidth).

We would love to know if this resolves your concern, and ask that you share your experience with us on our Ring Community forum here: https://community.ring.com/.

We look forward to hearing from you!

We love it. No complaints. Can’t wait to get more cameras to put around the outside of the house.
