Ring team rejects porch intruders but allows bears
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product works but be prepared to see tons of bears posted but rejects photos I want to share with my neighbors of people at your door. I find that people at my door during covid with all the restrictions and mandates that they are more dangerous than bears on a daily basis. Purchased several ring cameras but returned them because if I want to see wildlife I would buy a wildlife camera it’s much cheaper.

Posted .Hello Ringdisappointed,
We know how important it is to have peace of mind when it comes to your home security. Your Ring Video Doorbell 3 is intended to provide this for you. Please know that we are here to assist and are confident that we can find you a resolution in a timely manner.
All battery-powered Ring devices, including the Video Doorbell 3, use passive infrared (PIR) sensors to detect motion. Adjustable motion zones work by identifying visitors based on a change in temperature, and sending a signal to your smart device when it detects one. You can control the sensors' range and sensitivity using the controls in the Ring app. It is also optimized for low-power operations to save on battery power.

Very Important - Cold weather warning!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One thing I was not made aware of before purchasing this (I have Doorbell 2, but same holds for Doorbell 3) is that it does not handle cold weather particular well. Please make sure that if you're in an area that is cold enough for snow, that your doorbell battery will drain overnight, not recharge even when hardwired, and you no longer have protection. Here is the link on their site explaining it in detail, but until global warming kicks in a bit more, some northerners needs to find another solution. https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005939463-Cold-Weather-and-Battery-Powered-Ring-Doorbells

Posted .Hello JohnF,
Extremely cold weather has unfortunate effects on lithium-ion batteries such as those used in Ring devices. As the temperature drops, these batteries begin to have trouble holding a charge and if it gets cold enough, they'll stop working altogether. As a result, at certain temperatures, the batteries in your Ring device may run out of power faster than expected and may need to be recharged more often. If the battery is too hot or too cold, on-board software will keep it from charging in order to avoid damaging the battery. We do suggest bringing the battery inside and allowing it to change to room temperature before trying to recharge the battery, in some instances.

Wrong product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m in a small condo community. This Product was overpowering and never stopped ringing. I disconnected it and returned it back to the store it was not the right fit. The battery was used up in two days. I feel it’s a good product in the right environment but not for me. The quality, app & Sound was very good.

Must pay for a subscription to work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ring camera works great but you must purchase a subscription after trial period to see just who was at your door a few moments ago , if you didn’t see who it was immediately then you are out of luck, I paid $200,00 + change and that is a lot for almost nothing, Ring is a rip off!

Terrible home security product!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is absolutely horrible! Hardly ever works properly! We have excellent Wi-Fi connection and the doorbell also has excellent Wi-Fi connection but still has multiple issues! For being a home security device, you need to be able to rely on being able to see what's happening when it happens. But with this product, you'll either get notifications too late or you'll never get notifications. When you go to use the live view, it either takes way too long to load or doesn't load at all. When watching the live view, after 2 minutes of watching live view, you'll always get a notification that live view failed. You constantly have to keep reconnecting to live view which is horrible if an incident is happening and you keep having to reconnect to it! I have low trust in this device as a security issue and I will never trust ring with any of my home security! Choose a better product that actually works!

Posted .Hi Josh. Being able to rely on your Video Doorbell 3 is key to your peace of mind, and I'd be happy to offer some help. The concerns you're describing all sound like they could be related to the strength of the connection that your Doorbell is receiving. Try checking the RSSI for your Doorbell on the Device Health screen in the Ring app, which will tell you how strong the wifi signal to your Doorbell is. For more information on RSSI and some wifi troubleshooting tips, check out our Help Center article here: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217271526-Understanding-RSSI-Values-and-Wifi-Signal-Strength. Posted .Hi JimF. I'm happy to hear your Video Doorbell 3 is working well for you so far. Since the Doorbell communicates with the Ring app via wifi, the strength and range of the signal can be impacted by different factors such as certain building materials and other wifi-enabled devices. Constant issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This doorbell is such a disappointment. At least 90% of the time I receive a notification of motion at the door, I cannot actually open the live view of the camera. It simply has the spinning wheel indefinitely or says its unable to connect to the camera. This happens despite resetting the camera, and the fact that it is a mere 10ft away from gig speed internet, so I cannot blame that (though customer support at Ring uses that as the scapegoat). It also has a weak ability to modify the motion settings (or simply ignore them) unless you purchase a subscription - even though I have told it to ignore the area where a road is located, it constantly alerts me of movement when cars drive by on that road - which I'm able to see on the rare occasion when I can connect to the camera. Go with a different brand.

Posted .Hello Dale,
Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring experience with us. The all new Ring Video Doorbell 3 is designed to connect you to video when visitors press your doorbell or trigger the built-in motion sensors. We understand it's vital that this feature work seamlessly, as it allows you to see and speak with your visitors.
The signal strength to your router is a key point for the connectivity of your Ring device. There are three main factors that can weaken your wifi strength:
1. Physical obstructions
2. Competing wifi networks
3. Other electronics
You can check your signal strength within the Ring app in the Device Health tile. The RSSI stands for Received Signal Strength Indicator. The RSSI measurement is all the factors that are hurting your signal at the receiving point. While RSSI is measured on a scale of 0 to -99, there won't ever just be one cause that is the culprit for a low RSSI rating.
We’d love to connect with you so we can help troubleshoot this and work towards a solution. Will you please reach out to us at amazon.advocates@ring.com at your earliest convenience? We look forward to working with you and improving your overall Ring experience.
All the Best,
Danielle from Ring

Will NOT Hold Up...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had the ring.com doorbell for just under two years (after we got it installed). The feature to be able to talk to people over the ring is no longer working. I expected more than two years from this product. I loved it when it worked but we will be purchasing a different brand. We have contacted Ring and they could not help us fix it but they were very interested in selling us a new one. It should last longer.

Horrible- Inconsistent / Huge gaps in recording
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Horrible product. It goes several hours without recording any events. It records 90 seconds then takes a break before recording again so it misses a lot when it does record. I’ve had a couple security issues with prowlers and got nothing from doorbell cam or stick-up cam. Misses events day and night so darkness does not seem to be the issue. The inconsistency makes it useless for security purposes. If you only want it for the doorbell it’s probably fine, but otherwise is a total waste of money.

Posted .Hi HHmn,
We agree it's vital that your Ring Doorbell 3 detect accurate motion within the monitored zones, so you can be alerted every time someone is at your home. This is Ring's next-generation doorbell designed with improved motion detection, including the all new near zone. The near zone feature activates a horizontal motion zone in areas only 12 to 15 feet in front of your camera. Here are a few pro-tips for making the most of the motion detection feature on your Ring Doorbell 3.
1. Utilize the Near Zone feature.
2. Mount the Ring Doorbell 3 at about 48 inches (1.22 m) from the ground.
3. If you subscribe to a Ring Protect Plan, you can turn on People Only Mode within the Motion Settings to reduce the number of notifications you receive so that you only receive motion alerts caused by humans.
4. Set the Motion Frequency setting to 'Frequently', to ensure all activity is captured.
We would love the opportunity to assist with optimizing the motion settings. We appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring device to secure your home and know it's important that it meets your needs and expectations. Crushes battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this for about a month now. First ring door bell was awesome. This one has nice features but you can’t turn them on or kiss your battery good bye! I even have it hardwired and battery still only last maybe 2 days at max!

Posted .Hello Bobborocco,
Thank you for leaving a review. We understand how important it is to ensure that the battery is holding its proper charge and how cumbersome recharging the batteries can be. Please know that we are here to resolve these concerns with you today.
The Ring Video Doorbell 3 followed the Ring Video Doorbell 2 (now discontinued) as the next generation of Ring doorbell. In addition to new video features such as Near Zone functionality, the Video Doorbell 3 has dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wifi connectivity and improved energy efficiency. After reading your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Video Doorbell 3 keeping a charge. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. This article will detail some of the factors that may cause your battery to require more frequent recharges: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773.
Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that you have the best possible experience with your products and services.
