Simmer time you don’t have to recharge it will just auto recharge in the box. Winter times below zero degree it will short battery life you have to recharge manually. But it still works great.

It is so helpful to see what is happening around your house when you are away. I got the Ring 3 b/c I wanted to change out the face plates. It is a great item! Just be prepared to buy Ring chime if your doorbell is not hardwired. In battery mode, you will not hear someone ringing the bell.
