It is unfortunate that information was not provided about the need to remove and recharge the battery in the device, even with the hard wiring to the house current being in place. In order to slow down the battery depletion, I had to cancel the event tracking and the camera use. With this condition I hope to limit the removing and recharging the battery only once monthly. I would not purchase this device if I had known this before. Also, this device should not be offered in Minnesota, due to the cold weather. Poor customer support!!!

While great my phone lets me know when someone's at my door, the picture quality isn't all that great, more shadow outline of people than detail. Also unneeded notice of cars going by or walkers which is annoying. But on the whole, it's a good product.

Watch your neighbors let the dog drop it hot on the front lawn and catch all the action. Send it right over to the township FB group and be entertained by all of the comments that will ensue. It’s also great for security. Highly recommend this product!

When I answer the door bell from work, I can hear them, however they can't hear me. They just hear me breaking up, jittery voice.

Bought and installed the doorbell and accessories. Downloaded the app on my smartphone and immediately was greeted with an opportunity to sign up for an additional service of video recording for a mere $30 annually. It doesn't mention that you CANNOT USE YOUR DOORBELL without it. I received a PR response that they were sorry I was unhappy and assigned a rep to "make my Ring experience better". I wrote back to her and to date have not had a followup response. In addition to the undisclosed additonal charges required to use the device, it sucks functionally. My door is perpendicular to the street 40 feet away. I set the radius of the doorbell in the setup function to 6 feet. The good news is that the Ring does NOT pick up people or cars going down the street. It graciously alerts me every time a big truck passes on my street. When someone does ring the bell, the notification is randomly delayed so by the time I answer, the person has left. It is also fairly consistent about letting me know when the neighbor's cat is on my front porch via the motion detector.Of course, I can't see him because I don't subscribe to the video recording since the device doesn't work well anyway, why would i want to pay to save the videos??? In summary, Device is expensive, accessories required. Functionally, horrible. Customer Service, Automated and non-existent in my experience. I say buyer beware. Certainly, don't invest in the company imho. Makes a good paperweight.

      Hello,

I am truly sorry to hear about your poor Ring experience. It seems as though this issue could be a motion detection problem. Setting up the motion detector does require a bit of maneuvering to find the sweet spot, however, we can assist you with honing these settings to make sure you receive the alerts that matter to you. In addition, I do apologize for the delay in our Customer Service response. That being said, I would like to be your direct point of contact from here on out. Would you kindly email me directly at [email protected] so that I can investigate this further for you?

Thank you and I look very forward to getting to the bottom of this for you.

I got the original Ring doorbell because I wanted to have the option of batteries and it was on sale. I am very happy with it. It works well and I don't have to recharge often (every month or so). The app tells me when it's time to recharge, it doesn't take that long and I'm back in business.

Is exactly as advertised. Easy install, although, had to make a trip to the hardware store for a new wooden wall plate for a clean looking install. Wife is happy to have the added security and have used the mobile monitoring/alert to talk to visitors.

Great for making sure that packages are actually delivered when they say they are! The camera has a nice clear picture; even at night. The rechargeable battery holds a charge very well and you can see how long charged it is on the app on your phone or tablet.

The RING doorbell It is seldom that a product moves me to make a public statement, let alone a review. So here I go gushing about a product that even the Shark Tank guys missed out on. The RING doorbell is an amazing product. It's amazing because it works, it's simple and it is easy to install. Imagine being able to see and converse, with anyone on your porch, from anywhere in the world! I am somewhat of a tech-gadget junkie. Unfortunately, my tech skills are limited to using the toaster. I love things like closed circuit security systems, GPS and smart phones. Problem is most of these products don't work “Out-of-the-Box”. Most have a learning curve similar to learning how to fly a plane. Example: I have a complete security system with five cameras sitting in a box in my spare room closet. It obviously is not doing its job as designed. The wiring and setup of the system was totally overwhelming to me. I was going to hire someone to install it until my wife put a $200 cap on the adventure. Not so with the RING doorbell. Opened the box, followed the instructions and 20 minutes later I watched my nosy neighbor step up on my porch to inspect the new doorbell. I have to admit I really enjoyed the look on his face when I asked him what he wanted via the built in intercom. To make it even better, the entire thing was recorded and can be shared... now that was worth the price of admission, which by the way, is just under $200. The doorbell can be triggered by either motion (with adjustable sensing pattern) or by ringing the doorbell in the traditional manner. Your regular door chime will ring as it always has, but here is what is not traditional. When the bell is triggered your phone rings a special alert and a video appears on the screen showing you a crisp, HD live feed of who is in front of the doorbell's built-in camera. You can then answer through the intercom and carry on a conversation with the visitor. What is important is that you can be anywhere on the planet as long as you can get a cell signal! Okay, you ask why is that such a big deal? It's big because 85% of robberies start with a ring of a doorbell to see if someone is home. You'll NEVER not be home, once you install the RING doorbell... you'll always know who is at your door and they won't know if you are at home or in Paris. Pretty cool. There is another use. The motion senor and recorder provide a great way of keeping track of the kids coming and going from the house. Even when you are away at work or traveling. If you have kids that leave for school after you leave for work, you'll know what time they left and if they were alone or with someone. Same when they return from school. If you go away for the weekend,,, the no party or no boys rules are tech-enforced. Recently, while traveling, we hired a service to check on our dog and care for her. I have a record of the person coming and going and how long they were there. I am in awe of this product and cannot endorse it more actively. I am not employed by the company or do I receive any form of compensation other than the satisfaction of telling others that I have found a GREAT product that actually does exactly what it claims to do... and maybe more. Again, pretty cool. Nashville, Tennessee

Kinda hard to snap on but fairly easy to install. It took me almost 2 hours trying to snapping it on the first time. Customer support very helpful. Unfortunately i had to get a wifi extender as the video kinda lagged sometimes. Make sure you install very close to your wifi router

It’s a doorbell with a camera. That’s good enough, but you are alerted even when you’re not at home. You can talk to the person at your door. And you get notifications from other ring users in your area about suspicious activity. Well worth the money.

The Ring doorbell itself works well as far as detecting motion and of course rings. There does seem to be an issue with it losing connectivity or perhaps the Ring network losing connections. Setup took a couple tries. Called Support and got a callback after about 15-20 minutes.

Installation video left a lot to be desired. It wasn't as easy as the instructions state. After three phone calls and a modem extender, we got the system to operate. The techs at Ring were very helpful and worked with us during the installation process. Once in operation, we love it.

Love everything about this product, only wish the battery ladted longer. Unfortunately we could not directly connect to a power source, so we must rely on charging the battery, which gets depleted quickly the more you "view" live feed and review recorded videos.

I am happy with my purchase of this ring doorbell. I am able to see and communicate with anyone that comes to the door. Even if it is just detected by motion per my settings. I would buy this product again and recommend it to a friend. Maybe buy an updated version with a little better camera.
