Just today I almost missed our matinenace man because I had took fhe dogs out foe a walk, but I gor a notification that someone was at my front door, and wss able to comunicate with him thtough my ring door bell and phone

It worked exactly as I'd hoped and I was able to get an entire 20 minutes of his shenanigan's on tape and got him arrested :)

I dropped our first one and broke it when I was taking it off to recharge the battery. It provides a true sense of relief to know who is around your home when you’re not there. If they actually ring the doorbell, you can answer it from your phone and converse with the visitor. We are very happy with this inexpensive security device.

So when you go back and view the recording, the person has already obviously been in frame and you just don't get to see the first few seconds.

Your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) may be experiencing a delay due to a wifi connection issue. Poor connectivity can effect the overall performance of the device. To determine whether or not the problem is caused by poor upload speed, run a speed test to determine if your network can support Ring devices. In edition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.
If your networking equipment hasn’t been power cycled in a while, try unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Wireless networks utilize different channels for communication. In the United States, the 2.4 GHz band uses channels 1-11 and the 5 GHz band uses channels 36-165.
We also suggest increasing the motion sensitivity for your Ring doorbell by following these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Adjust the "Motion Sensitivity" by moving the slider to the right.
