[Employee of bestbuy] Product itself is good but ring and Amazon’s neighbors app has horrible content moderation standards. Legitimate posts get taken down but useless stuff stays up. One example is roughly 10 posts about fireworks on the 4th. while a post about someone attempting to open car doors get taken down. Go with another brand like Eufy, Blink, or Arlo

      Hi JosephT.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand how important it is for only relevant posts to show up in your Neighbor's app feed. The Neighbor's app is a public space designed to allow members of a community to share information with one another. We would love the opportunity to collect any feedback you have, and provide information to help you customize the posts you see.

It sounds like you have some concerns with the content that is posted or removed from Neighbor's app. Users have full control over who views their video recordings on the Neighbors app. Only the content that a user chooses to make publicly available (by posting it to the app) can be viewed by users or by local public safety agencies via the Neighbors app. Users can choose to share text updates, photos, and videos taken on any device, including but not limited to Ring’s home security devices.

If you are seeing posts you do not want to be notified of, follow these steps to customize the Neighbors feed in the Ring app:

Tap the menu (≡) in the top left.
      Tap Neighbors.
Tap the gear icon on the upper right.
      Tap Customize Neighbors.
      Tap Content Settings.
Tap the blue Advanced Filters button to choose and refine what topics you want to see in your feed.

Ring Community was established to assist in providing our neighbors with the most recent news and instructional material. Four sections make up this online forum: Ring Updates, Product Boards, Tips & Tricks, and a Moderators' Corner. You can start new topics on the Product Boards with your questions or suggestions; a search function will assist you in locating subjects that other neighbors have previously posted.

Camera and doorbell lag in response to phone. Make sure you have a good router and internet for storage. Video storage also costs extra.

      Hi RichardG.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

We understand how critical it is for your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) to notify you of meaningful motion events in a timely manner. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) was designed to send you notifications based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We want to ensure your device is working as intended.

It sounds like your notifications are more delayed than you would like. The speed at which notifications get sent to your phone will be dependent on your home's wifi speeds, the signal strength of your Ring device, and your phone's signal strength. If your speeds are sufficient, we recommend checking your Ring device's signal strength.

Follow these steps to check wifi signal strength—or RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator)—in the Ring app:

      Open the Ring app.
      Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Devices and select the Ring device you'd like to check.
      Tap the Device Health tile.
Under the Network section, look for Signal Strength.
If the RSSI value listed is green, your device has a strong signal. If it is grey, amber, or red, it may have a moderate to weak signal.
The larger the number after "RSSI-" the weaker the signal.
For example, a device displaying "RSSI-36" has a stronger signal than a device showing "RSSI-64".

You can visit our support center for tips on how to improve signal strength.

I bought a ring camera a few years back and although the recordings showed mostly when people were walking away, I thought the new systems would be better. It is worst. In the past at least we had the choice to select if we wanted to pay extra to keep the recording fir a longer period of time. Now, you are forced to pay extra if you want to access a recording that just happened a minute ago. And if you refuse to pay, you often take too long to open the app and see the activity. A Swan app with 4 cameras has a better connection and faster view to the activities. I was too late to noticed since you have to pay after 30 days and I only had 15 days to return or exchange. I hope this helps not getting someone surprised. Just be aware!

      Hello George,

At Ring, we believe it is imperative that our customers receive all pertinent information regarding additional benefits they have the option to subscribe to, such as the Ring Protect Plan. Having this information allows someone to make the best purchasing decision for their needs. The Ring Protect Plan is mentioned on our Ring packaging, on our website, in the welcome email you received upon setting up your device. Your Ring products provide their standard features (instant alerts, live view, and two-way talk) without any subscription. Ring Protect Plans simply offer downloading and sharing video capabilities, for those who want them. Here is more information about the Protect Plan options we have: https://shop.ring.com/pages/protect-plans.

We do offer a lite version of the Ring App called Rapid Ring. This is a companion app that is designed to quickly connect you to the live view and to answer notifications seamlessly. To download the app, please go to the App Store (for iOS devices) or the Play Store (for Android devices) and search for “Rapid Ring”. Download and install the Rapid Ring app on your mobile device.
