The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) is compatible with b/g/n wifi networks operating on 2.4 GHz frequencies. High-speed internet is recommended. If your Ring device is far from your wifi router, it may be experiencing connection issues. Connection issues can cause poor performance including delays and issues with video quality. To learn more about your device's signal strength, follow these steps:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap “Devices.”
Select the ring device you would like to test.
Tap on the “Device Health” tile.
Scroll to “Signal Strength” under the “Network” section.
The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor.
Move your wifi router off the floor.
Walls, floors, and furniture can interfere with or weaken your router's wireless signal. Choose an elevated, central, open location for your wifi router to ensure optimal performance.

I had to buy a second one to put in my back yard to see all of the nocturnal animals that visit my yard at night. It turns out I have raccoons, possums, and a rabbit that pass through every night. My elderly parents and I love to watch the footage in the morning.
