Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this since I moved into an apartment downstairs and it is super convenient but the notifications are kind of annoying since it detects motion (& sometimes it doesnt detect at all). Going into this too I didn’t know for you to see activity without having to go in live mode you must pay $3 a month or save $6 and pay $30 for the entire year. I already spent $100+ on this why should u have to pay still more. Oh well I guess.

I thought I was buying the Ring Doorbell 2 ... (not Ring Doorbell 2 Gen). It wasn't labeled clear on the box what actual model this was. They told me in the store this was the Ring Doorbell 2 - which has the "quick release" battery. I bought it because I have the Ring stick-up cam that uses the same battery. That way I could interchange them and always have a full battery ready between 2 units. Well, only after it was installed was I told that this model is the Ring Doorbell 2 Gen which has a "built in" battery that needs to be removed off the door and brought inside every time it needs charging. This is a poor design, in my opinion. It's very inconvenient to have to take the entire unit off the door every time it needs to be charged. So I'm not entirely happy with this product. I called Ring and they admitted that the names are way too similar and both shouldn't be called "Ring 2" and that lots of people make this mistake. I would have taken it back and replaced it with the Ring 2 with quick release battery, but I missed the return window by just a few days.
