Posted .Hello Eddie,
We are pleased to read that you are enjoying your new Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release)! This doorbell features 1080 HD Video, two-way audio, night vision, and advanced motion detection. We understand how vital it is that the motion detection work. Ring devices are designed to alert you consistently and reliably of motion at your home. Having accurate motion detection is essential in providing the peace of mind that Ring strives for.
Ring products “see” the world through a network of three linked passive infrared (PIR) sensors. These are heat sensors that detect motion by monitoring heat within the detection area. If you haven’t already, we recommend that you visit your doorbell’s motion settings. Here, you can review the Motion Frequency and Motion Zones, to ensure they are fine-tuned to your home’s environment. For instance, if your Motion Zones are set properly, but you miss motion events, the issue may lie within the Motion Frequency settings. If set to Periodically, the doorbell will check for the least amount of motion possible. You could consider increasing it to Regularly or Frequently to capture more motion events.
It is important when investing in our devices they work at their highest standards, as this ensures you are updated on activity around your home. Please reach out to us today at https://community.ring.com/ for additional tips and support. Ring Community launched in March 2019 to help deliver the most current news and educational information to our customers. This peer-to-peer forum allows our neighbors to share their feedback and experiences to assist each other in resolving their concerns.
Sincerely,
Danielle with Ring

WON'T LINK CHIME OR CHIME PRO!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Didn't have much problem hooking up but not worth the money. I spent too much $$ and time for some thing that won't link to a Chime or Chime Pro. I spent over an hour with a Ring tech with no luck. It was suppose to replace a cheap Chines video door bell that came with a chime for $60.00 and worked perfect. But after replacing the batteries the second time about 4 months between the first time it literally blew up. So I thought I should get something better? Without the chime other people don't know someone is at the door. VERY FRUSTATING! NOT WORTH IT!

Posted .Hello marty48911,
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention by leaving a review. The Ring Chime is a plug-in device that provides audible alerts whenever motion is detected or a doorbell’s button is pressed. We know how important it is to have peace of mind when it comes to your home security, and having an unresponsive device can be concerning. Please know that we are here to assist and am confident that I can find you a resolution in a timely manner.
Based on your review, it seems that your Ring Chime is having trouble connecting to your Ring Doorbell. When this occurs, we recommend resetting the device. To reset your Ring Chime, press and hold the setup button on the side for 10-15 seconds. Once done, you can proceed with attempting to set up the device. Please see our help center article for more information: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048673232-Troubleshooting-Your-Ring-Chime-Pro-and-Understanding-Light-Patterns#Chime_Pro_not_powering_up/.

Posted .Hi RichardG.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.
We understand how critical it is for your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) to notify you of meaningful motion events in a timely manner. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) was designed to send you notifications based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We want to ensure your device is working as intended.
It sounds like your notifications are more delayed than you would like. The speed at which notifications get sent to your phone will be dependent on your home's wifi speeds, the signal strength of your Ring device, and your phone's signal strength. If your speeds are sufficient, we recommend checking your Ring device's signal strength.
Follow these steps to check wifi signal strength—or RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator)—in the Ring app:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Devices and select the Ring device you'd like to check.
Tap the Device Health tile.
Under the Network section, look for Signal Strength.
If the RSSI value listed is green, your device has a strong signal. If it is grey, amber, or red, it may have a moderate to weak signal.
The larger the number after "RSSI-" the weaker the signal.
For example, a device displaying "RSSI-36" has a stronger signal than a device showing "RSSI-64".
You can visit our support center for tips on how to improve signal strength.

Not quite what I expected
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did not want to have to fool with a battery. Thought this was strictly hardwired but later found out it also has a battery that needs to be recharged. Salesman never explained anything to me. It sees to be working ok so I kept it. Just disappointed.

Posted .Hello Housewife123,
Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring experience with us. We appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring device to secure your home. Ring understands the importance of having the motion detection and battery work as intended. It is a valuable feature that is designed to notify you as to who may be near your home. Please know that it is a priority for us to be of assistance and find a resolution to your concern.
After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Video Doorbell is not picking up the correct motion. The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) is the next generation of the original Ring Video Doorbell. In addition to new video features such as Near Zone functionality, the 2020 release Video Doorbell boasts 1080p video, improved night vision, improved audio quality and near motion zone detection. If you are having trouble with your device picking up the correct motion. We recommend adjusting your motion settings and zones. Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring device to cover while ignoring everything outside that area. By selecting Motion Zones to cover only areas you want the Ring device to monitor, you can effectively monitor the area you want as well as reduce the number of “false positive” motion alert. For more information on adjusting your motion settings to better fit your needs, please see our help center article titled: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041248971-Using-Motion-Zones-with-your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2020-release-.

This is a platform intended for Ring users, just like yourself, to create open discussions regarding their Ring experiences, provide suggestions or feedback, and more: https://community.ring.com/.

Posted .Hi MorganW.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We value the experience you have with Ring, and want to ensure the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) is meeting the standards it's intended to provide. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) is designed to be a DIY home security solution that can be trusted to provide you with lasting coverage. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.
Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device. Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device. Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰). Tap “Devices.” Select your device. Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera. Answer the event and examine the resulting video.
We have listed some possible outcomes from this test here:
1. The footage is crisp and clear.
If your video appears good when next to the router, the issue may be caused by a disruption in between your router and your Ring device’s normal location. To fix this, try moving your device closer to the router or extending your wifi signal with a wifi extender like the Ring Chime Pro.
2. The footage is heavily pixelated.
If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, even next to the router, this may be due to slow wifi speeds.
2. There are severe pauses in live video.
If your video pauses, stutters, or gets frozen and your wifi speed meets the minimum standards, try rebooting your router. Unplug your router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It should take three to four minutes to reboot. Then, test your Ring device again and see if there's any difference.
3. There is a long delay before your video starts.
This is also caused by slow wifi speeds. Assuming you have high-speed internet, reboot your router and the mobile phone, tablet, or PC you're accessing the video feed on. Test an event when it's back online to see if there's any difference.
While subscribed to one of our Ring Protect Plans, you will have access to videos of every motion and live view event. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone and have access to the live view feature.
