Thank you so much for showing interest in our products and desiring to have more information regarding the optional Ring Protect Plan subscription. We want to ensure that we can answer any questions you may have concerning how the Ring Protect Plans work and how to save/share your videos, when necessary.

Ring gives customers a complimentary 30-day trial with each new Ring device. After the 30-days, you can choose if you would like to purchase a Ring Protect Plan or not. A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan, you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device. We understand how important it is for only relevant posts to show up in your Neighbor's app feed. The Neighbor's app is a public space designed to allow members of a community to share information with one another. We would love the opportunity to collect any feedback you have, and provide information to help you customize the posts you see.

It sounds like you have some concerns with the content that is posted or removed from Neighbor's app. Users have full control over who views their video recordings on the Neighbors app. Only the content that a user chooses to make publicly available (by posting it to the app) can be viewed by users or by local public safety agencies via the Neighbors app. Users can choose to share text updates, photos, and videos taken on any device, including but not limited to Ring’s home security devices.

If you are seeing posts you do not want to be notified of, follow these steps to customize the Neighbors feed in the Ring app:

Tap the menu (≡) in the top left.
Tap Neighbors.
Tap the gear icon on the upper right.
Tap Customize Neighbors.
Tap Content Settings.
Tap the blue Advanced Filters button to choose and refine what topics you want to see in your feed.

Ring Community was established to assist in providing our neighbors with the most recent news and instructional material. Four sections make up this online forum: Ring Updates, Product Boards, Tips & Tricks, and a Moderators' Corner. You can start new topics on the Product Boards with your questions or suggestions; a search function will assist you in locating subjects that other neighbors have previously posted.

We would love the opportunity to assist and ensure your device is working optimally.

It sounds like you are enjoying the features of your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation), but it sounds like you have some concerns with the video quality of the device. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) offers 1080p video. Poor video quality is often due to slow internet speeds. We recommend running a wifi speed test using the following steps:

Turn off your mobile phone’s cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Devices.
Select your device.
Tap Device Health.
Under Tools tap Test Your Wifi.
Tap Start to run a test that will measure your upload and download speed.
Both upload and download speeds should be at least 1 Mbps or greater, but 2 Mbps or above is ideal.

Check the numbers on your wifi speed test. If either your upload or download speed is below 1 Mbps, then you might consider replacing your router (especially if it's older than five years). Contact your internet service provider to learn more about getting newer equipment and faster speeds.
