Not good in cold weather
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it’s really cold outside, my ring camera keeps disconnecting and I keep having to bring it in the house to let it warm up and then reconnect it. I’m looking for a different camera service. Also it’s hard to relocate the ring camera if you move or reassign it to someone else if you decide you don’t want it anymore.

Posted .Hi Beatrice.
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us.
We understand the importance of having a device that works in all weather, and that can easily be transferred to a different owner if need be. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is not working consistently in its current environment, and you want to transfer ownership to somebody else.
The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is weather-resistant and can withstand temperatures ranging from -5 degrees F to 120 degrees F. Extremely cold weather has unfortunate effects on lithium-ion batteries, such as those used in Ring devices. As the temperature drops, these batteries begin to have trouble holding a charge, and if it gets cold enough, they'll stop working altogether. As a result, at certain temperatures, the batteries in your Ring device may run out of power faster than expected and may need to be recharged more often. Visit our support center for additional details on how cold weather impacts your device.
To release ownership of a Ring device if you're moving, gifting, or selling your Ring device, follow these steps:
1. Open the Ring app via iOS (Apple) or Android.
2. Tap the three lines (≡) on the top left corner of your Dashboard.
3. Tap devices.
4. Select the device you want to release from your ownership.
5. Tap Device Settings.
6. Tap General Settings.
7. Select "Remove this Device."
The device will be immediately available to a new owner. Complete this process individually for all devices that you want to release. We also recommend completing this process even if the device is still installed and left behind after a home sale.

Posted .Hi Issa.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is to have your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) capture all the correct motion events. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.), please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring. You have to detach the doorbell in order to charge
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.May be returning. Had no idea in order to charge the battery, you have to dismount the entire doorbell from the wall. My other has a battery you can easily take out. This design is saying "hey, maybe they'll drop the doorbell taking it off, damage it, and buy another".

Posted .Hi PRE29.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. At Ring, we want to ensure that you have the best possible experience with our products. Your peace of mind and security are extremely important to us. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device, such as the Ring Battery Doorbell, is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. Please know that we take your peace of mind seriously, and we are here to assist in finding you a resolution.
We are here today to offer some information to help resolve the battery concern that you mentioned in your review. The Ring Battery Doorbell is designed with a built-in battery. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.
To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:
Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.
You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".
We recommend using the Ring Solar Charger for the Ring Battery Doorbell or the Ring Plug-In Adapter to assist with extending the life of the battery in your doorbell. The Ring Solar Charger is a solar power source that can be mounted behind your Ring doorbell. The Ring Plug-in Adapter (2nd Generation) is designed to convert battery-powered video doorbells so they can run using line current.
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Battery Doorbell, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.

Reliable and battery lasts for a long time.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I also got the door holder because I'm in an apartment. It's extremely reliable it catches just about everything, the only downside is there is a few second delay. The battery lasted for over a month from 100% down to 30% and then I charged it at 30%. Definitely interested in investing in more ring products. This item is a highly recommended item.

Good camera
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love that we can be in any part of the house and see who’s at the door my daughter can’t reach the peephole so this is good. What I don’t like is you gotta pay yearly to have the recordings. Also on this one the video quality isn’t that great.

Yearly fee for full functionality
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decent product, but was surprised that the video recording is a paid service. I would have gone with something different that did not require a yearly fee. Ill do my research ahead of time.

Ring review
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It doesn’t catch everything and there was a glitch. Also if you miss the subscription it’s difficult to have . For the cost and the hype I expected better. I switched from blink which is significantly less expensive and was better the customer service just sucked. I don’t pay for subscription because it’s not really worth it because I can’t catch everything. Totally missed cars coming in my driveway it was a lot

Posted .Hi there, it's definitely important to be able to rely on your Video Doorbell to see visitors at your door. Often times, it can take a bit of trial and error to find which motion settings work best for you. Try adjusting the Motion Zones and Motion Sensitivity to see if you can find a combination that fits your preferences. It's also important to ensure that your Doorbell has a strong signal from your wifi router for optimal performance.
