The Video Doorbell doesn't have a removable battery, so you will need to take the Doorbell down from where it is installed to charge the battery. It is critical for a home security device to have enough power to keep your device online and ready to protect you. It sounds like the battery is draining quickly on your device. The batteries in Ring devices are designed to go months between charges under normal conditions. However, real battery life is dependent on a number of factors, such as local weather, the number of events captured, and the frequency of activation.

The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more the battery is used. Using Live View often can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your Motion Settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, change the motion frequency to regularly or periodically, or adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.

They will record when motion is detected, when someone rings the Doorbell, or when you activate the Live View. With an active Ring Protect Plan subscription, these videos can be viewed in the Ring app from your Event History. It sounds like you have some concerns with the motion detection and battery life of your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation). The proper placement of your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) will be vital in the motion detection of the device. One of the biggest mistakes people make is mounting their Ring doorbell too high. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) should be mounted at approximately 48 inches above the ground for optimal performance. If your device is mounted too high, you're more likely to catch the heat of passing cars than the heat of incoming visitors.

The motion sensors in your Ring Video Doorbell are designed to detect motion up to 155 degrees horizontally and from five to 25 feet outward from the fixture. Once you've confirmed the device is mounted at the proper height, you should start receiving more accurate motion notifications.

The rechargeable battery in your device can go months between recharges with normal use. Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with answering your doorbell from your Ring App. Rapid Ring is a "light" version of the classic Ring app with most of the features stripped out except for the ability to activate a Live View and respond to an event as quickly as possible. By using the Rapid Ring app in conjunction with the original Ring app, you'll be able to answer your notifications as quickly as possible. We do notify our customers about the optional Ring Protect Plan on here under the device specifications, on our website, in your Ring App during the free 30 day trial of our cloud plan, as well as in an email after a successful setup of a Ring device. While subscribed to one of our Protect Plans, it allows you to access videos of every ring, motion and live view event. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone as well as have access to the live view feature.

It sounds like your device is losing its wifi connection. Usually, devices falling offline repeatedly is related to poor wifi connectivity caused by signal fluctuations, channel congestion, or data loss.

A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.

Here at Ring, we take your security and peace of mind seriously. Please know that we are here to ensure that we can find a resolution together.

Poor video quality can be attributed to the wifi/bandwidth connection. One of the most important measurements in your Ring security network is the strength of your wifi signal. You may run a special connectivity test at any time to see if a bad wifi connection is responsible for problems with your device. We have included step by step instructions below:

-Open Ring app
-Hamburger Menu/ 3 Lines
-Select Devices
-Select a Ring device
-Select Device Health
-Select "Test your Wifi" under the Tools Section
-Tap "Start test
-Once the test is done, Enter your Results from the Speed test

Sometimes, even with high internet speeds, the connection is not as strong at the location of the Ring device. Based on your review, it seems that you are not fully satisfied with your Ring Video Doorbell. If your device is not working as intended we recommend resetting your device. To reset your Ring Video Doorbell press and hold the setup button for 10-15 seconds and release. Once the white light on the front of the device stops spinning proceed with the setup process.
