    Doesnt work

Doesnt capture anything, I have deliveries come and drop off packages multiple times a day and It does not alert me or show up in any event history. We have to be within 2 feet of the camera for a few seconds for it to capture motion. I have great wifi and have gone through all the settings normal and advanced set up everything for maximum efficiency and will not work outside of a 2 foot range. My amazon delivery drivers are able to stand in front of the ring, take photos of the dropped of packages and I would have never know they were there if it were not for the amazon alerts.

      Hello SierraGaleries.

Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring experience with us. We appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring device to secure your home. Ring understands the importance of having the motion detection and battery work as intended. It is a valuable feature that is designed to notify you as to who may be near your home. Please know that it is a priority for us to be of assistance and find a resolution to your concern.

After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Video Doorbell is not picking up the correct motion. The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) is the next generation of the original Ring Video Doorbell. In addition to new video features such as Near Zone functionality, the 2020 release Video Doorbell boasts 1080p video, improved night vision, improved audio quality and near motion zone detection. If you are having trouble with your device picking up the correct motion. We recommend adjusting your motion settings and zones. Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring device to cover while ignoring everything outside that area. By selecting Motion Zones to cover only areas you want the Ring device to monitor, you can effectively monitor the area you want as well as reduce the number of “false positive” motion alert. For more information on adjusting your motion settings to better fit your needs, please see our help center article titled: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041248971-Using-Motion-Zones-with-your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2020-release-.

    My worse purchase ever

I bought this video doorbell because I have another Ring (different model) in my daughter's apartment and works good, but this one was terrible. The camera doesn't work well, I never could see when someone was approached to my door and also never get the motion alerts. Poor quality of the image on videos of the few times it was recorded. I contacted BestBuy Geek Squad and they replaced for another one. I gave another try for de same model, but it was the same thing for the first one, so I give up for that. I replaced this model for the newest model. So far, I still not 100% satisfied.

Hi LucianaS, I know it's important to be able to rely on your Ring Video Doorbell to be notified of visitors at your door. Video quality issues and delayed notifications are both usually caused by a weak or unstable wifi connection. We have information on how to check the signal strength for your Video Doorbell here https://support.help.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217271526. After reviewing the signal strength, check out these troubleshooting steps specifically for video quality concerns: https://support.help.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/205348254. I got this may need to replace the traditional doorbell For my mother-in-law. after installing I noticed that the device never held a charge. It looks like the power from the doorbell wires were not supplying any electricity to the device for some odd reason. I ended up returning and getting the video doorbell three instead.

      Hello Jimmy,

Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring experience with us. We appreciate that you have placed value on owning a Ring device to secure your home. Ring understands the importance of having the battery work as intended. Please know that it is a priority for us to be of assistance and find a resolution to your concern.

Also, we would like to note that while the Ring Video Doorbell 2020 has the option to be hardwired, its main source of power is the rechargeable battery. Your Video Doorbell (2020 release) battery is charged using a common micro-USB cable (an orange one is included in your Ring box). The micro-USB cable can be plugged into any USB power source, such as a computer. Your battery will take around five to 10 hours to fully charge, depending on whether the USB cable is plugged into a USB port or into a wall outlet. Please see our help center article for more information on charging the Ring Video Doorbell 2020: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040764472-Charging-the-Battery-on-Your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2020-release-.

      Hello Bennie,

Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with our products. We really appreciate your feedback. Our team is always striving to improve our products and their performance.

The more events captured by your Ring Doorbell, the more your battery is used to power the live HD Video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the Live View to look or speak through your camera. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, adjust the motion frequency to best fit your needs, or adjust the direction of your Ring device.

Ring Community launched in March 2019 to help deliver the most current news and educational information to our customers. Not sure how this has gotten such high reviews. I have constant issues with video loading and/or the doorbell connecting to WiFi. I live in a small townhome and there is no reason why there should be connectivity issues. I think they intentionally make the connectivity poor so you have to purchase the WiFi extender. I would not recommend the Ring brand and would advise looking at other competitors.

      Hi JustinS.

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us.

We understand the importance of having a consistent wifi signal to your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation). Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is not receiving a strong wifi signal. Follow these steps to check wifi signal strength—or RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator)—in the Ring app:

      Open the Ring app.
      Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Devices and select the Ring device you'd like to check.
      Tap the Device Health tile.
Under the Network section, look for Signal Strength.
If the RSSI value listed is green, your device has a strong signal. If it is gray, amber, or red, it may have a moderate to weak signal.
The larger the number after "RSSI," the weaker the signal.
For example, a device displaying "RSSI-36" has a stronger signal than a device showing "RSSI-64".

Visit our support center for tips on improving the signal strength to your device.

Ring Community was launched to help deliver the most current news and educational information to our neighbors. This online forum is divided into four categories: Product Boards, Ring Updates, Tips + Tricks, and a Moderators’ Corner. The Product Boards are where you can begin new topics with your questions or feedback; there is also a search option that helps you find topics that have already been posted by other neighbors.

      All the best,
      Nicole from Ring. Ring
