We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. Being able to save, download, and review footage captured by your Ring Video Doorbell is a valuable feature of the Ring Protect Plan. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like there was some confusion surrounding the optional Ring Protect Plans. The Ring Protect Plan is a subscription that gives you access to paid features for Ring devices such as video doorbells, cameras, alarm, and Car Cam. With a Ring Protect Plan, you can save, review, and share video recordings from your Ring devices to your Ring account.

Without a Ring Protect Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.

There are three Ring Protect Plans available for home devices, and one Ring Protect Plan available for Car Cam. Plans start at $3.99 per month. Visit our support center for more details.

Ring Community was launched to help deliver the most current news and educational information to our neighbors. This online forum is divided into four categories: Product Boards, Ring Updates, Tips + Tricks, and a Moderators’ Corner. Motion Frequency is a user-accessible control that allows you to adjust your motion detection protocols to provide a balance between consistent alerts and preserving battery life. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of a seamless setup process, as this allows you to start using your Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) right away. What you describe is not the experience we want you to have, rest assured we hear you and are here to offer our help.

While not comprehensive, the three most common causes of failure to complete the setup (after entering an incorrect password) are your Ring device being too far from your wifi router, having a problem with your internet connection, or some type of issue related to your wifi modem or router.

If you've already brought your Ring doorbell inside next to your router and the setup continues to fail, try rebooting your modem and/or router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest working devices in your house, the devices like to be rebooted about once a month for optimal performance.

To reboot these devices, please follow the instructions below:
-Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don't just turn it off). If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them
-Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug them back in and wait for your internet to be restored
-Confirm that your internet has been restored by connecting another device to your wifi network and trying to access a website, then repeat the setup process for your Ring Doorbell.

We understand how important it is to receive a trickle charge to your Ring Video Doorbell - 2020 Release. So long as the correct hardwiring is used, you can expect a supplemental trickle charge to your Ring doorbell. Please know we are here to help.

This device can be hardwired to an existing doorbell system or transformer for continuous charging Please ensure your transformer is rated at 8-24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz.

If your current hardwiring is not working, you may consider a Ring Plug-In adapter. This accessory will keep your device powered with a standard AC outlet.

Most pairing issues are caused by distance from the router or incorrect wifi passwords. If possible, bring the device near your router, and try the set-up again. Should this fail, double-check the wifi password to ensure there are no errors.

A Ring Protect Plan is not necessary to view real time notifications on your Ring cameras. Without the Ring Protect Plan you can still use the live view and two-way audio feature, you are still able to see who is at your door and answer motion notifications. In order to see past recorded videos from your ring device, you will need the optional Ring Protect Plan, which starts at $3/month per device or $30/year per device.
