I love being able to see what is happening in my driveway. We didn’t have a doorbell at all by the utility door to the garage and often the UPS, FedEx or Amazon truck would come and leave a package and I would not even know they were there until I got a text notification of delivery. Now I Know right away

Living in an apartment building there’s a lot of foot traffic, it’s nice to know what’s going okay outside my door!! Great camera quality and extremely phenomenal batter life!!

It seems to me that you have to have a strong Internet signal for it to work at least in my experience. I use the battery, which has a pretty decent battery life. The only real drawback is the fact that for each doorbell you would need a separate subscription if you wanted to record or look at prior video events.

The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) is compatible with b/g/n wifi networks operating on 2.4 GHz frequencies. High-speed internet is recommended. If your Ring device is far from your wifi router, it may be experiencing connection issues.
Here are a few of the top reasons for poor connectivity:
Your Ring device may be too far from your WiFi router.
Your mobile device has a low signal or poor connection.
Your home wifi connection is poor (or your internet service provider is experiencing high traffic).
To learn more about your device's signal strength, follow these steps:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap “Devices.”
Select the ring device you would like to test.
Tap on the “Device Health” tile.
Scroll to “Signal Strength” under the “Network” section.
The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor.
Move your wifi router off the floor.

Older but worth it

I live in an apartment so I bought a cheap door mount kit from that other famous online retailer. Make sure you have a beefy USB charger available before you start. Noy sure what my deal was but it took about 8 hours to charge and you have to finish that before you set it up in the app. That part was pretty straightforward. Charge time aside it's been running for about 6 weeks on that initial charge. Just make sure you do your online research and set your privacy and sharing options accordingly. Having it feels like living in the future.

Now, no one can walk up and disable it without having a nice video of themselves beforehand. Much clearer images and sound than my last doorbell, too.

The video is really clear, even at night, and the motion alerts work great. Setup was quick and easy, and the app makes it simple to check what’s going on anytime. It gives me peace of mind knowing I can see what’s happening around my home, whether I’m there or not. Definitely worth it!

The set up is done with the app. Installation is easy, all the tools needed are included. Now I understand why this product is popular, once it's all set up it does really work, now I will never missed a package delivery. I combined it with Ring security system. After a burglary, it gives me the peace of mind of professional monitoring at affordable price

I was able to install the doorbell and continue to use my existing Doorbell chimes. I am not sure that it will ever be a deterrent for theft, however it allows me to respond quickly to visitors and deliveries. For this reason, I am ver happy with the purchase.

It's nice to have a camera that is motion activated, but this either catches everything or nothing. I get a lot of packages delivered without it getting tripped because of the angle our mail carrier runs from the mail box to the front door. This is with default zones and he comes from behind my neighbors car. I don't think he knows he didn't trip my Ring doing that, but I had to make adjustments and the Ring goes off 20+ times a day now in a rather quiet neighborhood. I'm thankful it doesn't activate from the rabbits and squirrels. Overall I like it since it's hardwired the battery has never gone down below 100% and install wasn't too bad other than needing to get some titanium drill bits for the steel siding to drill pilot hold for the screws for the bracket. But that is a housing materials thing not Ring's fault. Turning off the doorbell was easy because I mapped out the circuit breaker last year after finding it unreadable because the pencil had faded. So setup the app and charged the Ring, turned off the breaker, drilled 4 holes, screwed int he bracket and mounted it, fed through the doorbell wiring and connected it to the Ring and screwed down the contact screws and bolted it onto the bracket and flipped the power back on and it rang my existing chime and I got the Ring notification on my phone. Other than the run to get bits that could drill through steel it was maybe 15 minutes of work. Just wish it was more reliable on catching motion for package delivery that speed or angle of motion should prevent it from notifying me that someone approached my steps without having to capture my entire neighborhood's activities.

Ring devices are designed to alert you consistently and reliably of motion at your home. Having accurate motion detection is essential in providing the peace of mind that Ring strives for. Rest assured, we are here to provide you with information to correct this concern.
Ring products “see” the world through a network of three linked passive infrared (PIR) sensors. These are heat sensors that detect motion by monitoring heat within the detection area. When a person or object that is warmer enters the detection area, the heat measurements change. The motion sensors register this change as movement and send out an alert. The sensitivity of the sensors can be adjusted to accommodate the motion detection you would like from your device.
If you haven’t already, we recommend that you visit your doorbell’s motion settings. Here, you can review the Motion Frequency and Motion Zones, to ensure they are fine-tuned to your home’s environment. For instance, if your Motion Zones are set properly, but you miss motion events, the issue may lie within the Motion Frequency settings. If set to Periodically, the doorbell will check for the least amount of motion possible. You could consider increasing it to Regularly or Frequently to capture more motion events.
