Mainly because I wanted a wider Horizontal and vertical view that the pro model offers. In addition a few of the other differing features. If the features this one comes with is good for you, this is a good unit for the price

The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. It sounds like your device is not detecting all of the motion you are wanting. The motion sensors in your Ring Video Doorbell are designed to detect motion up to 155 degrees horizontally and from five to 25 feet outward from the fixture. They're also more sensitive to horizontal movement across the detection area than vertical movement.
The proper placement of your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) will have a large impact on the motion your device detects. Proper placement depends on a number of factors, including the layout of your yard, the distance from the front door to the street, objects within the Ring Doorbell's field of view, the height of the door, and more. You can find more details about the proper placement of your device in our support center.

It does seem to lapse as it does not always capture images like when someone is walking up to enter house but still a good buy.
