This is every bit as good but with one distinct flaw. (Hardwired) Living in the North, temps can drop below zero during winter. This model requires a battery even if you hardwire it. I installed the doorbell 4 days ago, we have had a couple cold nights, and I am getting a low battery warning. Apparently hardwiring this model with existing doorbell wires only provides a constant slow charge to the battery (which powers the doorbell). Under cold temperatures or maximum motion detection, the battery can drain faster than it can be charged.. So, if you live where temps can get below zero, get the doorbell pro (no battery). If you are anywhere else, this is a great doorbell at a fraction of the cost of the pro.

The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) is compatible with b/g/n wifi networks operating on 2.4 GHz frequencies. High-speed internet is recommended. If your Ring device is far from your wifi router, it may be experiencing connection issues. Connection issues can cause poor performance including delays and issues with video quality. To learn more about your device's signal strength, follow these steps:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap “Devices.”
Select the ring device you would like to test.
Tap on the “Device Health” tile.
Scroll to “Signal Strength” under the “Network” section.
The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor.
Move your wifi router off the floor.
Walls, floors, and furniture can interfere with or weaken your router's wireless signal. Choose an elevated, central, open location for your wifi router to ensure optimal performance.

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because there is no local storage you must subscribe to a Ring plan in order to record footage. It does come with a limited trial period.
