    I live near a very public sidewalk where my front door is VERY close to the public sidewalk in a high traffic area. Though I believe it’s not the products fault I cannot close in the distance enough to stop it from going off 35x a day which makes me forget about important notices

    I like this way more than I thought I would. Only bad part you have to pay for a prescription to keep the video. But at least it’s not that expensive monthly charge.

      Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Video Doorbell so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are here to provide you with some education to resolve the battery life issue you mentioned in your review.

      It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.

      To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:

      Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
      Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
      Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
      You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.

      You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.

      To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:

      Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
      Tap "Devices."
      Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
      Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
      Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".

    I was agaisnt ring fir some time now but tbey have evolved over the years. When its set up right you dont get any False alarm and work when its suppsoed to.

    Goes offline quite a bit and doesn't send me all alerts (motion alerts). Try to replay a video in history and it won't for some reason. 2 way speak doesn't work well at all. Not a fan, but it's nice to have the extra security when it works.

      Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring Video Doorbell 2020 experience with us. We appreciate it. Our products are designed to give you peace of mind about your home security in the long term. We do have some solutions that can resolve your concerns and ensure you have Ring devices capturing visitors around your home when you need it most!

      Have you tried a factory reset on either of the devices? For the Ring Video Doorbell, we’d suggest bringing this device inside near the router and walking through a factory reset. Again, this is pressing and holding the setup button located on the back of the doorbell for a full 30 seconds. Then walking through a brand new setup a few minutes later.

      When wifi devices fall offline repeatedly, we recommend rebooting your wifi modem and router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest-working devices in your house, for optimal performance, you should reboot them about once a month. To reboot routers or modems, follow the instructions below:

      Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don’t just turn it off).

      If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them.

      Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug them back in.

      Wait for your internet to be restored.

      Here is a helpful article which walks you through additional steps to take if the issue still persists for you after your modem/router reboot: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360023559372-Fixing-Your-Devices-Falling-Offline-Repeatedly-by-Adjusting-Your-Router.

      Also, if you are having trouble with your device picking up the correct motion, We recommend adjusting your motion settings and zones. Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring device to cover while ignoring everything outside that area. By selecting Motion Zones to cover only the areas you want the Ring device to monitor, you can effectively monitor the area you want as well as reduce the number of "false positive" motion alerts. ​For more information on adjusting your motion settings to better fit your needs, please see our help center article titled: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041248971-Using-Motion-Zones-with-your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-2020-release-.

    I bought the ring door bell May 27, 2024. This month (July 2025) it stop working properly. It stop connecting to the wifi which I bought a wifi extender specifically for it to be near the front door. It also loses battery life within days of fully charging it. It’s ridiculous. Today July 18 I bought a new one from target, the battery operated one. Let’s see if the battery operated one is better then this piece of junk.
