Posted .Hello,
Ring understands the importance of having your Ring Video Doorbell online and working so you can keep your home secure. We know you rely on your Ring Doorbell to keep your home secure. We will be more than happy to help you with this today.
One of the most important measurements in your Ring security network is the strength of your wifi signal. There are three main factors that can weaken your wifi quality:
- Physical Obstructions: Certain materials can reduce the range of wifi signals (or even block them). Here are some examples of things that can interfere with your Ring device’s signal strength:
Heavy-duty walls and floors made of materials like concrete, brick, or metal.
Household objects such as fish tanks, bookcases and mirrors.
Windows made of Low-E glass also cause interference.
While other materials like wood and glass don't have as much effect, the more walls and floors between your router and your Ring products, the more interference you're likely to see.
- Competing wifi networks: If you live in a densely crowded area such as a big city or apartment building, there can be dozens of Wi-Fi networks around you which can cause interference and lower the quality of your network. If you open the wireless options on your mobile device or computer and see a long list of networks, you may be experiencing this type of interference.
-Other electronics: This is a difficult kind of interference to detect, as it can come from almost anything—even from appliances such as microwave ovens and baby monitors that aren't connected to your wifi network. The biggest source of electronic interference though, are those appliances that use the same Wi-Fi network as your Ring device to perform their basic functions. These include cellular phones, iPads, other smart home devices, TVs, and video game consoles.
Please reach out to us directly via our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ so we can find a solution to best resolve this and ensure the device is functioning as it was intended.
Thank you,

Street light glare problems
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."Wired in ring doorbell" Overall the ring camera itself is fine. No issues with connections sound or sensing movement, however wish the quality was a little beter nothing like you see in adds or online but not a deal breaker its only 1080pThe biggest complaint we have is the amount of glare from our street light. So if you are in direct veiw of a street light be aware you may have the same issue.

We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. Being able to save, download, and review footage captured by your Ring device is a valuable feature of the Ring Protect Plan. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like you are enjoying the features of the Ring Video Doorbell, but there may have been some confusion regarding the optional Ring Protect Plans. The Ring Protect Plan is a subscription that gives you access to paid features for your Ring device. Without a Ring Protect Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.

Need’s important
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my ring camera but the reason for low rating is because only after 2 years my ring looks like it’s corroded and peeling. I’m so disappointed ☹️ this product says it’s weatherproof but as you can see that’s not the case.

Posted .Hi JaquelineJ.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) record clear and concise videos so that you can effectively monitor your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the video quality issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as intended. With Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation), stay connected to your home from anywhere by seeing who’s at your door and answering it right from the Ring app. Enjoy enhanced features like upgraded video quality from 720p HD to 1080p HD, Near Zone motion detection in areas as close as 5 to 15-feet in front of your home and a reimagined mounting setup that simplifies installation.
Ring devices require high speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can effect the performance of your Ring device. Diagnose and fix common video issues you may experience with Ring doorbells and cameras.
Here are some examples of video quality issues:
Overexposed, washed out videos: Washed out videos may be due to overexposure to sunlight.
Poor wifi signal strength: A decline in wifi signal strength may be caused by a weak connection between the router and your Ring device.
Traveling signal strength: This may be due to a wifi dead zone in your home where you loose signal strength between the router and your Ring device.
Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In edition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable.
Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.
Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Devices.
Select your device.
Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera.
Answer the event and examine the resulting video.
We have listed some possible outcomes from this test here:
Footage is crisp and clear: If your video appears good when next to the router, the issue may be caused by a disruption in between your router and your Ring device’s normal location. To fix this, try moving your device closer to the router or extend your wifi signal with a wifi extender like the Ring Chime Pro.
Footage is heavily pixelated: If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, even next to the router, this may be due to slow wifi speeds.
Severe pauses in Live Video: If your video pauses, stutters, or gets frozen and your wifi speed meets the minimum standards, try rebooting your router. Unplug your router, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It should take three to four minutes to reboot. Then, test your Ring device again and see if there's any difference.
Long delay before your video starts: This is also caused by slow wifi speeds. Assuming you have high speed internet, reboot your router and the mobile phone, tablet, or PC you're accessing the video feed on, Then see if there's any difference when it's back on line.
While there are no video settings that allow you to change exposure from sunlight, there are other ways you can fix overexposed, washed out videos. Using a wedge kit or corner kit can to change the angle of the doorbell. There are many different corner kits and wedge kits, so make sure you get one that is compatible with your particular model of doorbell.

NOT MY FIRST CHOICE
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is not my first choice. Is a Affordable camera I would preferred lorex or night. Hawk or something else even Google, anything but not Ring, But because of the price $59 and then also the tax I figure it was a Good buy T $59. The problem is, Is that if you want good pictures of people's backs, this is the product for you to get. The Cameron does not give the full story of who came to my house, only who left my front door area If something were to happen and i needed to call the police and give a description of he/him she/her they/them and the. The only thing that i would be able to tell 911 dispatch is that butt looked good in in those jeans I had a Ring doorbell before the customer service at ring is horrible.

Posted .Hi wiljon338.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how critical it is for your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) to notify you of meaningful motion events where the device is installed. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) was designed to activate based on your specific needs. We would like to provide you with solutions to the motion detection concerns you are experiencing today!
It sounds like the device is not performing as intended. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.), please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.
Thank you,
