This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. If you do not wish to receive notifications for motion events, simply toggle off the "Motion Alerts" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is picking up too much motion, we recommend lowering the "Motion Sensitivity" under the "Motion Settings" tab. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This also includes changing the "Motion Frequency" to "Regularly" or "Periodically" in the Ring app.
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts", please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."

The camera is clear and the video zone is very large. This is a battery-powered and the battery last about 10 days. Now going to purchase more accessories and cameras.

The battery life is a little short if you use constant monitoring but if you only use the doorbell it lasts for ages. If you have an existing doorbell power supply available you need not worry.

Night vision works okay as well. Had hoped to wire it in, but not surprisingly our builder took the cheap route and our original doorbell was battery operated, so we’ll have to remove the ring to charge. With medium settings, 3 second video capture, the first charge has lasted a month already.

Easy to install and setup. We're satisfied with the picture and the recordings are clear, the ability to talk with the person at the door is an added pulse. The Ring doorbell is worth the money.

Relatively easy to install and works well with my current doorbell chime. You can also utilize this as an intercom by speaking through the app on your phone.

It still works great, but I wanted the upgrade for the 1080 hp camera. I am moving the other camera to the backdoor. It's an awesome product and I have recommended the Ring doorbell to all my friends.

With anything there are some pros and cons. The pros are I like the venetian bronze. It goes well with the coloring of my home. I like the motion detection and being notified when someone is passing or approaching my door. Also, like that I can speak to whomever is at my door. Some of the cons are the doorbell does not always pick up motion and I’ve had packages dropped off that the doorbell did not even sense someone at the door which was a little disturbing that it does not always pick up motion. I also cannot see more than straight out, and up with the range of the camera would be nice to see a little more of the doorway especially to watch packages.

Its way better than google nest’s grainy footage. Very crisp both in day and night. I wouldn’t know if it has nightvision but it captures night footage or low-light footage really well.

Bought it at a time when there was a sale (watch out for sales - this doorbell usually has a sale). The neighbors portal on the Ring App is also useful to know whats happening in the neighborhood.
