It sounds like you have some concerns regarding the motion detection of your device. The placement of your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is an important factor in the motion it will detect. For the best results, mount it around four feet (1.2 meters) above the ground. The motion sensors in your Ring Video Doorbell are designed to detect motion up to 155 degrees horizontally and from five to 25 feet outward from the fixture. They're also more sensitive to horizontal movement across the detection area than vertical movement. If you mount the Ring Doorbell too high, you're more likely to catch the heat of passing cars or people walking away than the heat of incoming visitors. If you have mounted it higher than four feet, you can use a wedge kit to angle your Ring Doorbell down for a better view and more accurate motion detection.
