Posted .Hi Blink,
We appreciate you for providing us with feedback regarding your Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release)'s video recording duration. Within the Ring App you are capable of tailoring the recording settings to best suit your needs. At default, the Ring Doorbell (2020 Release) is set to 20 seconds, to ensure your doorbell's battery provides optimal performance, and reducing time between charges.
To change the duration of your device's recording length, please do the following:
1. Open your Ring App and tap on the three dots located in the top-right corner of your desired device (in this case your Ring Doorbell (2020 Release).) and tap settings.
2. From the icon boxes shown you may need to scroll down to see Device Settings. Select this icon.
3. Select Video Settings and then Video Recording Length. You will now want to tap on Max Recording Length to adjust the timer.
This will then present you with options ranging from 15 seconds to 120 seconds. This will set the standard for every motion or ring event. Once you have selected the appropriate time, click save at the top right.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. With Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation), stay connected to your home from anywhere by seeing who’s at your door and answering it right from the Ring app. Enjoy enhanced features like upgraded video quality from 720p HD to 1080p HD, "Near Zone" motion detection in areas as close as 5 to 15 feet in front of your home, and a reimagined mounting setup that simplifies installation. To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:
Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.
You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:

*As cold weather sets in, lithium-ion batteries like those used in Ring Doorbells and Security Cameras may experience several issues, including trouble holding a charge, running out of power faster than normal, or losing functionality. Knowing at what temperature batteries will start to be impacted can help you take the necessary steps to keep your device working. When the temperature drops to:
36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in having to charge the unit more frequently.
32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery.
-5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up.
When it gets cold and your device's battery runs out, bring your entire device inside and charge the battery with a USB cord. This will allow your device to warm up while the battery charges.
We recommend using the Ring Solar Charger or the Ring Plug-In Adapter to assist with extending the life of the battery in your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.). The Ring Solar Charger for Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is a solar power source that can be mounted behind your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation). Ring Solar Charger is a convenient power source to help charge and extend the battery life of your Video Doorbell (2nd Generation). The Ring Plug-in Adapter (2nd Generation) is designed to convert battery-powered video doorbells so they can run using line current.
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.), please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.
Thank you for being the best part of Ring! Have a wonderful day!

Posted .Hi Iancpu.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. At Ring, we understand it is essential to have your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) online and working properly so you can keep your home secure. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like the device is not operating as expected. With Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation), stay connected to your home from anywhere by seeing who’s at your door and answering it right from the Ring app. Enjoy enhanced features like upgraded video quality from 720p HD to 1080p HD, near-zone motion detection in areas as close as 5 to 15 feet in front of your home, and a reimagined mounting setup that simplifies installation.
Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is compatible with b/g/n WiFi networks operating on 2.4 GHz frequencies. High-speed internet is recommended. If your Ring device is having trouble connecting, the Ring app will show an error with a code that will help you with your issue.
Here are a few of the top reasons for poor connectivity:
Your Ring device may be too far from your WiFi router.
Your mobile device has a low signal or poor connection.
Your home wifi connection is poor (or your internet service provider is experiencing high traffic).
If your Ring device is far from your WiFi router, it may be experiencing connection issues.
To learn more about your device's signal strength, follow these steps:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap “Devices.”
Select the ring device you would like to test.
Tap on the “Device Health” tile.
Scroll to “Signal Strength” under the “Network” section.
The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor.
Move your WiFi router off the floor.
Walls, floors, and furniture can interfere with or weaken your router's wireless signal. Choose an elevated, central, open location for your wifi router.
Check your mobile device's signal.
If your mobile device has one or two bars, this could be causing issues accessing your Ring device. For best results, make sure you're connected to wifi from wherever you are.
We have listed the steps below for how to check your wifi speed:
Most internet service providers range from 100–400 mbps (megabytes per second) for download speed and 10–100 mbps for uploading. We recommend testing your internet connection 15 feet from your wifi router, using websites like this one.
If your wifi speed is falling below the ranges noted above, we recommend contacting your internet service provider.
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen), please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.

Melissa from Ring.

We appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring device to secure your home. Ring understands the importance of having the Ring Video Doorbell 2020 work as intended. It is a valuable device that is designed to notify you as to who may be near your home. Please know that it is a priority for us to be of assistance and find a resolution to your concern.
The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) is the next generation of the original Ring Video Doorbell. In addition to new video features such as Near Zone functionality, the 2020 release Video Doorbell boasts 1080p video, improved night vision, improved audio quality and near motion zone detection.
After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Video Doorbell 2020 is not alerting you when people are at your door. You can get Ring Alerts from your doorbell, when someone presses the button on it and Motion Alerts from your doorbell an/or security cameras when motion is detected.

Smart Alerts allow to distinguish between people and other types of motion, such as cars, if you subscribe to a Ring Protect plan. Also, some Ring security cameras allow for a Motion Warning, an audible, pre-recorded message when your security camera detects a person. ||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first it was working fine. It’s had two glitches, where it didn’t record motion. After a while it was not recording at all. Looked online to figure out why. Seems the router has to be closer to the doorbell. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. At Ring, we understand it is essential to have your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) working properly so you can keep your home secure. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We can definitely assist you with this today, and we are confident we can find the correct settings for your home’s environment.
It sounds like your device was not working as expected. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the Motion Settings tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the Motion Frequency setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to 'Frequently'. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This includes increasing the "Motion Sensitivity" and setting "Motion Frequency" to "Frequently" in the Ring app.
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling smart alerts for people only in your Ring app. To enable smart alerts, please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap Devices.
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap Motion Settings.
Tap Smart Alerts.
Tap Enable Feature.
Tap Continue.
Select the notification options that you want for Person and Other Motion.
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap Done.
