      Hi SandraJ.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. Being able to save, download, and review footage captured by your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is a valuable feature of the Ring Protect Plan. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like there was some confusion surrounding the optional Ring Protect Plans. The Ring Protect Plan is a subscription that gives you access to paid features for Ring devices such as video doorbells, cameras, alarm, and Car Cam. With a Ring Protect Plan, you can save, review, and share video recordings from your Ring devices to your Ring account.

Without a Ring Protect Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.

There are three Ring Protect Plans available for home devices, and one Ring Protect Plan available for Car Cam. Visit our support center for more details.

I purchased this doorbell for my apartment in Arcadia Retirement Facility. It works as advertised but alas I was ordered to take it down because it violated my neighbors privacy. I am out the cost not only of the cost of the Ring but the cost of two Alexa shows I bought to view and answer the door.

      Hello

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of a seamless setup process, as this allows you to start using your Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) right away. What you describe is not the experience we want you to have, rest assured we hear you and are here to offer our help.

While not comprehensive, the three most common causes of failure to complete the setup (after entering an incorrect password) are your Ring device being too far from your wifi router, having a problem with your internet connection, or some type of issue related to your wifi modem or router.

If you've already brought your Ring doorbell inside next to your router and the setup continues to fail, try rebooting your modem and/or router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest working devices in your house, the devices like to be rebooted about once a month for optimal performance.

To reboot these devices, please follow the instructions below:
-Unplug your router or modem from its power supply (don't just turn it off). If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them
-Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug them back in and wait for your internet to be restored
-Confirm that your internet has been restored by connecting another device to your wifi network and trying to access a website, then repeat the setup process for your Ring Doorbell.

We appreciate the value you have placed in owning a Ring doorbell for your home and would love to offer our assistance to ensure the setup completes. Please reach out to us today at https://community.ring.com/ for additional tips and support. Ring Community launched in March 2019 to help deliver the most current news and educational information to our customers. This peer-to-peer forum allows our neighbors to share their feedback and experiences to assist each other in resolving their concerns.

      Hello Tino93,

We appreciate you leaving a review. We understand how important it is to ensure that the battery is holding its proper charge and how cumbersome recharging the batteries can be. Please know that we are here to resolve these concerns with you today.

Based on your review, it seems that you are experiencing frequent battery drainage. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. This article will detail some of the factors that may cause your battery to require more frequent recharges: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773.

We appreciate that you have placed value in owning a Ring device to secure your home and know it's important that it meets your expectations. Please visit our community forum at https://community.ring.com/, as we have some additional solutions we'd love to share with you.

Could not install item because, after waiting two weeks, installer was sent to the job without all the items. Installer returned the next day but items were still not right. Hi Craftsman57.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand how critical it is for your hard-wiring to function as intended. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) was designed to work with compatible, existing doorbell systems to receive a constant charge and to notify you in your home of any visitors. We would love the opportunity to provide you with a concrete resolution today.

It sounds like there is a compatibility issue with your hardwiring. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) can be hardwired to a transformer with a rating from 8 to 24 VAC, 50/60Hz, 5VA to 40VA. The Ring Video Doorbell is not compatible with wireless door chimes or any chime/intercom system using a DC transformer. Using incompatible power sources can damage your device and cause electric shock. Visit our support center to check whether your existing doorbell chime kit is compatible with Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) from our list of tested and confirmed chimes.

      Hi Kathy.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand how critical it is for your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) to notify you of meaningful motion events where the device is installed. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We are here today to provide you with solutions that will assist you in finding the best device settings for your home’s environment.

It sounds like your device is not picking up the motion you expect it to. The proper placement of your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) is important. It depends on a number of factors, including the layout of your yard, the distance from the front door to the street, objects within the Ring Doorbell's field of view, the height of the door, and more. One of the biggest mistakes people make is mounting their Ring doorbell too high to catch people's faces. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) should be mounted at the correct height of approximately 48 inches above the ground for optimal motion detection.

The motion sensors in your Ring Video Doorbell are designed to detect motion up to 155 degrees horizontally and from five to 25 feet outward from the fixture. They're also more sensitive to horizontal movement across the detection area than vertical movement. If you mount the Ring Doorbell too high, you're more likely to catch the heat of passing cars than the heat of incoming visitors.

      Hello Quality,

Your experience with Ring is our top priority. We understand the importance of having your home security devices work properly, and we would like to offer our help! We agree that getting the most life from your Ring Doorbell (2020 Release) battery is essential, so that it can provide you with around-the-clock coverage.

While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring Doorbell, the more your battery is used to power the live HD video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the live view to look or speak through your camera. As most of our Ring Doorbells are powered by lithium-ion batteries, it's important to note that at temperatures below 40 °F, the battery is less effective at holding a charge and may require more frequent recharges. Here is a helpful article that details more steps that can be taken to increase time between battery recharges: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773-The-Battery-In-My-Ring-Device-Seems-to-Drain-Too-Fast.

      Hi RefundMePlease,

We understand how vital it is to receive timely and accurate motion detection from your Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release). Ring devices were designed to alert you consistently and reliably of motion at your home. Having accurate motion detection is essential in providing the peace of mind that Ring strives for.

If you are experiencing delays in connecting to video, we will want to look at the connection between your wifi router and the Ring doorbell. The signal strength to your router is a key point for the connectivity of your Ring device. There are three main factors that can weaken your wifi strength:

      1. Physical obstructions
      2. Competing wifi networks
      3. Other electronics

You can check your signal strength within the Ring app in the Device Health tile. The RSSI stands for Received Signal Strength Indicator. The RSSI measurement is all the factors that are hurting your signal at the receiving point. While RSSI is measured on a scale of 0 to -99, there won't ever just be one cause that is the culprit for a low RSSI rating. To get the most from your Ring device, aim for a signal of between -40 (near perfect) and -70.
