Whats my take on the Ring!?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good wireless camera for the most part. I had much higher hopes for it then it actually has though. It is fuzzy at times, and breaks up at times not allowing full recording. PROS It does the job at allowing us to have a heads up, feeling safe, and allowing us to keep an eye on our home. CONS would definitely be the poor quality of video and it breaking up at the most inconvenient times.

Ring door purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you get this ring cámara make sure to buy a wifi extender as Well. Some of the motion recorded comes up blurry. Also, when placing it on your door, make sure to install it at a mid lower level. I placed mine above the peep hole of the door and some motion goes undetected.

Posted .Hi user770557.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) to function consistently and reliably, so you are alerted to any wanted or unwanted activity in or around your home. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We would like to provide you with solutions to the video quality and motion detection concerns you are experiencing today!
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device. We are happy to share some troubleshooting steps to help you diagnose and fix common video issues that you may experience with Ring doorbells and cameras.
Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable and issues with video clarity. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. We recommend adding a Ring Chime Pro to your network to assist with the signal strength from your router to the doorbell.
For best results, we recommend mounting your doorbell around 1.2 metres above the ground. It is also important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.), please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.
Thank you,
Melissa from Ring.

False alerts after trial period.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked well during the 30 day trial. The day that the trial period ended I started getting repeated false motion detected. Up to 10 or so an hour. Adjusted sensitivity several times. Still get occasional false alert.

Posted .Hi RonP.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how critical it is for your Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) to activate upon meaningful motion events as intended, so that you can be alerted within the Ring app to any motion activity around your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) was designed with customizable Motion Settings that can be adjusted according to your needs. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. If you wish to decrease the amount of motion detection from the device, you can adjust the Motion Settings accordingly in the Ring app. This includes decreasing the "Motion Sensitivity" and setting "Motion Frequency" to "Regularly" or "Periodically" in the Ring app. To optimize your motion zones and ensure that the device will detect accurately, please follow these steps:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap Devices.
Tap the relevant device.
Tap Motion Settings.
At the top, tap Edit Zones or scroll down to tap Camera Motion Zones.
Note: If you are using a battery-powered device, you may need to toggle on Advanced Motion Detection under Advanced Settings before you can add customizable Motion Zones.
To adjust an existing Motion Zone: tap the Zone you want to adjust, then drag the points of the Zone to do so. Tap Save.
To add a new Motion Zone: tap Add Zone and drag the points of the Zone. Tap Save.
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling Smart Alerts for people only in your Ring app. Smart Alerts (available to Ring Protect subscribers), allow you to distinguish motion so you can know whether it's a person or something else like a car.
To enable Smart Alerts:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap Devices.
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap Motion Settings.
Tap Smart Alerts.
Tap Enable Feature.
Tap Continue.
Select the notification options that you want for Person and Other Motion.
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings tap Done.

Ring doorbell 2nd generation
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It doesn't do well all the time, especially in the cold. It doesn't always record, the recording is often breaking up, the alerts are kind of low in tone, and it often starts recording late. It would be nice if it came with double sided tape to attach it to property where you are not allowed to drill holes in to hold the base in place. I do like that it is battery operated, that is very convenient, and it does add more security and peace of mind.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Gen.) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. With Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation), stay connected to your home from anywhere by seeing who’s at your door and answering it right from the Ring app. Enjoy enhanced features like upgraded video quality from 720p HD to 1080p HD, Near Zone motion detection in areas as close as 5 to 15-feet in front of your home and a reimagined mounting setup that simplifies installation.
As cold weather sets in, lithium-ion batteries like those used in Ring Doorbells and Security Cameras may experience several issues including trouble holding a charge, running out of power faster than normal, or losing functionality. Knowing at what temperature batteries will start to be impacted can help you take the necessary steps to keep your device working. When the temperature drops to:
36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in having to charge the unit more frequently.
32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery.
-5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up.
When it gets cold and your device's battery runs out, bring your entire device inside and charge the battery with a USB cord. This will allow your device to warm up while the battery charges.
We recommend the Ring No-Drill Mount for use if you do not wish to drill holes in your wall. The No-Drill Mount uses double-sided adhesive to attach the plate to your wall so you can securely screw your Ring Video Doorbell directly onto the mounting plate — no power tools required.

Very displeased
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I bought this about 3 months. Overall I'm not satisfied with Ring at all for what you have to pay for on top of the yearly subscription to have full access of it. the video quality for claiming to be 1080p is not that at all by any means. you usually see it as 780 or lower, on top of this I have to deal with the app on my phone disconnecting from it almost every week which includes not receiving any notifications on my phone and even sometimes doesn't even record or turn on when a person is in front of it. Honestly you're better off spending the extra $50 that you would be spending for your yearly subscription on buying a actually security camera system with multiple cameras and better quality.
