This allows you to set up customizable camera motion zones for more accurate motion detection. It also reduces the number of unwanted motion alerts, so you can capture only what matters most. Follow these tips to optimize your camera motion zones:

Make your Ring device's view as clear as possible. Motion detection can sometimes trigger "false" alerts because of moving trees, lightning, the rising or setting sun, reflections off a shiny object, headlights, shadows, and more. To reduce false alerts, adjust your Motion Zones, remove shiny objects, cut back tree branches that create moving shadows, or angle your device to avoid the sun.

Look for high-traffic areas. Note any high-traffic areas, such as busy streets or sidewalks. If you receive too many motion alerts from your Ring device, you can adjust your Motion Zones to exclude these areas.

Exclude areas you don’t need to monitor. Note the potential paths people take to approach your device. Then redraw your Motion Zones to exclude areas where you rarely see people, such as behind locked gates, hedges, or walls.

To setup the Doorbell Wired, download the Ring app and follow along, as the instructions are in the Ring app. If you chose to not hardwired this device, you can use the Plug-In Adapter Gen 2 to power it. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concerns mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. At this time, the Ring Video Doorbell is not compatible with existing in-home chimes. We recommend using the Ring Chime with your Ring Video Doorbell Wired. When plugged into a standard wall socket, the Ring Chime produces an audio signal whenever you receive an alert from a Ring device for motion and doorbell announcements. Simply plug it in to a power outlet, set it up in the Ring app, and you'll be able to hear alerts from your Ring devices at home.
