This is the best invention ever I used to have a doorbell from another company, and this one works so awesome. Yes, a small monthly fee for bitter features, but worth the money.

      Hi CurtisE.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a consistent wifi signal on the Ring Video Doorbell Wired. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.

It sounds like you experienced some connection issues with the device. Usually, devices falling offline repeatedly is related to poor wifi connectivity caused by signal fluctuations, channel congestion, or data loss.

To determine whether or not the problem is caused by poor upload speed, run a speed test to determine if your network can support Ring devices. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance.

A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.

If your networking equipment hasn’t been power cycled in a while, try unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Wireless networks utilize different channels for communication. In the United States, the 2.4 GHz band uses channels 1-11 and the 5 GHz band uses channels 36-165. In some cases, setting up your Ring device(s) can fail due to wireless interference or congestion.

We also recommend adding a Ring Chime Pro to your network. The Ring Chime Pro simply plugs into a wall outlet between your router and the Ring Video Doorbell Wired to assist with the wifi signal strength to the device.

If you still have the Ring Video Doorbell Wired in your possession, we invite you to reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their personal feedback and experiences with Ring. We look forward to hearing from you. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance!

      Thank you,
      Amilia from Ring. Ring

Make sure you have power running to your existing doorbell and you know where your transformer is, because this easy install can quickly become a pain if those issues arise. The product is great, just know the installation process can be a little much if all boxes aren't checked.

Uninstalled after learning that Ring reserves the right to use all captured video footage to share with local authorities and the government. Especially with recent alignment to ICE and they're using to detect facial recognition of anyone that crosses its path, I don't want to contribute to this Big Brother feed to government any more than necessary.

      Hi OnismSonder.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Ring understands the importance of maintaining your Ring account privacy and security. In pursuit of our mission to make neighborhoods safer, when applying technologies to our business, we always consider our three pillars of customer security, privacy, and user control.

It sounds like you have concerns with Community Requests. Community Requests is a privacy-protected service that enables public safety agencies to put out public requests for help and efficiently and securely collect and manage digital evidence. Public safety agencies can post a request in the Neighbors feed asking community members within a specific area to share Ring video footage or information that may help their investigation. Videos customers choose to share in response to Community Requests go directly to Axon Evidence, a secure evidence management system where they can be verified for authenticity and integrity. This also creates a complete audit trail of how and when public safety agencies collect information. Participation is always voluntary, and public safety agencies can only see what you choose to share. Your Ring camera footage is not automatically shared with law enforcement. If you have set your Ring location within the geofence of the Community Request, then you will see a post in your Neighbors feed, which you can choose to respond to if you have relevant videos to share. Only videos that you explicitly select to share are sent to the requesting agency. Users can disable Community Requests in their app settings. Within your Neighbors Feed settings. Navigate to the Neighbors Feed → Feed Settings → Opt out of the Community Requests Post Category.

I originally ordered this item from Best Buy online. i was told that there was a problem with fulfilling the order. I did get the item on the projected date for delivery. I opened the box and there was not a Ring doorbell in there but box of ink cartridges. Well I found that the same doorbell was selling for the same special online price at Lowes so i got a refund instead of having best buy resend the item, and bought the one at Lowes. The installation was easy and setup was easy also. doorbell works great, camera image is great in any light. Don't recommend the best Buy online ordering though.

Existing doorbell chime is bypassed as part of the installation process for this system which relies on good WIFI to operate. I frequently get a delay in notification. Motion detection is a nice feature once adjusted properly, but can also be triggered by birds, insects and rain.

Good product as long as it gets enough power from your wiring. We have a 30 year old home. We replaced the old door bell, but wiring was too old. We had a 24V transformer installed. I returned this item. We went with the battery powered Ring doorbell, which is working great.

Hi LeilaniN. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Video Doorbell Wired to function consistently and reliably, so you are alerted to any wanted or unwanted activity in or around your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell Wired are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Video Doorbell Wired is a wired video doorbell that offers 1080p HD video with night vision and two-way audio with noise cancellation. With Ring doorbell, you can check in on your front door anytime, from anywhere, and can see and speak to visitors at your door in real time using your Ring app or Alexa-enabled device.

The charge from the hardwiring supplies a trickle-charge to the battery within the device. Depending on what functions the doorbell is performing, the battery may drain faster than the hardwiring charge can keep up with.

Since the amount of power used is dependent on your settings and the functions your doorbell is performing, here are a few tips to maximize battery life:

Keep the amount of time you're in Live View to a minimum.
Adjust your Motion Settings to minimize the number of false positive alerts.
Turn off features you may not use very often in the Ring app.
Check your RSSI. If you don't have a very strong wifi connection, your video doorbell may draw more power when communicating with your network.
Certain weather conditions might cause the battery to drain faster than normal.

We invite you to reach out to our Community if any additional information is needed regarding your question. The Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another by sharing their feedback and experiences with each other.

      Sincerely,
      Melissa from Ring Ring

Nice idea and gives you some peace of mind when gone from home for any period of time. However I thought it was a one time purchase. You have to get an at least $40 a year subscription to take advantage of what it offers.
