It sounds like the device is not functioning as expected. Ring Video Doorbell Wired is a wired video doorbell that offers 1080p HD video with night vision and two-way audio with noise cancellation. With Ring Video Doorbell Wired, you can check in on your front door anytime, from anywhere, and can see and speak to visitors at your door in real time using your Ring app or Alexa-enabled device.
At this time, the Ring Video Doorbell Wired is not compatible with existing in-home chimes. We recommend using the Ring Chime with your Ring Video Doorbell Wired. When plugged into a standard wall socket, the Ring Chime produces an audio signal whenever you receive an alert from a Ring device for motion and doorbell announcements. Simply plug it in to a power outlet, set it up in the Ring app, and you'll be able to hear alerts from your Ring devices at home.

The all-new Ring Video Doorbell Wired is intended to send you a notification when someone presses the doorbell or triggers the built-in motion sensors. With Advanced Motion Detection and customizable motion zones, Ring Video Doorbell Wired makes it easy to tailor the settings for your specific needs, detecting motion in specific areas and sending an alert as soon as a visitor approaches the door.
The Jumper Cable bypasses and disables your existing doorbell chime and must be installed before you install your Ring Doorbell. Can you confirm if this included part was installed in your home's digital or mechanical chime kit? If not, this could have been the root cause of the device not performing properly for you. But the catch is that you need to take subscription for getting the best out of this. You cannot record through any other mediums other than ring provided cloud storage. Also this is not supported with apple homekit right out of the box. You have to use other external bridges to make it to work but it won’t be supported for long as apple is stopping other bridges from being supported with homekit
