We understand the importance of a seamless setup process so that you can begin using your Ring Video Doorbell Wired right away. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell Wired are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. It sounds like you had some trouble with the setup of your device. During setup, the temporary wifi network called "Ring-" is being broadcast by your device. If you're having trouble finding this network, you should restart the setup procedure. When you get to this step, look for a slowly pulsing light on your device. This means the device is broadcasting the network. Now, try the setup process again. If you don't see this light, you may have a malfunctioning unit. Visit our support center for more information.

Just the worst
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The worst. I have been given so much misinformation about these doorbells. I am now on my 4th recommendation. The 3rd time the installer came (part of the service program I pay Best Buy for) they completely screwed up my current doorbell. Now they just canceled todays app with no notice.

Very Weak Wifi!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 5 different Ring products and this is the only wired one I bought. It is the only one that will not connect to my Wifi. I thought that maybe it was a bad unit so I returned and swapped with another one and it would not connect either. I swapped it for one of the other "non wired" ones like I have on the other doors and it works perfect!

Posted .Hi BritainW.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of a seamless setup process so that you can begin using your Ring Video Doorbell Wired right away. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell Wired are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. Rest assured, we are here to provide you with solutions today.
It sounds like the device is not operating as expected.Video Doorbell Wired is a wired video doorbell that offers 1080p HD video with night vision and two-way audio with noise cancellation. With Ring doorbell, you can check in on your front door anytime, from anywhere, and can see and speak to visitors at your door in real time using your Ring app or Alexa-enabled device.
In some cases, setting up your Ring device(s) can fail when there are too many devices on one network. Wireless networks utilize different channels for communication. The 2.4 GHz band uses channels 1-11 within the United States and 1-13 in some other countries. The 5 GHz band utilizes select channels between 36 and 165. Multiple wireless devices using the same channels at the same time can cause wireless interference. If you are receiving a message that the network cannot be found or is too far away when connecting devices to the 2.4 GHz frequency, it could be due to this interference. We recommend switching your router’s channel to 1, 6, or 11 to avoid overlapping other channels. If your Ring device does not find any wifi networks, try starting the setup from the beginning or from another mobile device. If the Ring device finds networks, but not your own network you might need to make the Ring device scan for new networks.
For wired devices like the Ring Video Doorbell Wired, you will need to hold the setup button for 10 seconds to reboot the device. This will cause it to generate a fresh scan of the available networks for your next setup attempt. A wifi analyzer application can be used on Android devices, or sometimes within your router, to evaluate which channels have the most congestion. We recommend doing this when you are experiencing setup problems, poor audio and/or video quality, or delays with notifications. Open up your Ring device’s ability to communicate by following these steps: Create a DHCP reservation. A DHCP reservation is a permanent IP address assignment that is reserved for the use of one device. Locate the Mac ID listed on the back of your Ring device or on the box. Create a DHCP reservation to ensure that every time your Ring device connects to your router, it will be given the same address. Note: there are many different terms for this option; please check your router’s manual to be sure. Set a static IP. You can also set a static IP during the setup process in the Ring app. Note: Ensure the address you provide is outside the range of your DHCP server in order to prevent an IP conflict. Once a DHCP Reservation or Static IP is in place, try the following: Move your ring device to the DMZ (demilitarized zone). Using the IP address you reserved, place your Ring device in the demilitarized zone (sometimes referred to as IP passthrough) of your router. This will allow the Ring device’s traffic to pass through any security settings that may be preventing connection. Note: This can only be done for one connected device at a time. Once you have verified that all steps in the Ring app have been completed and neither your internet connection nor your wifi password are the cause of your connectivity issue, troubleshoot by going through the following solutions one at a time, step by step. Check the SSID (name) of your network. If it has special characters or blank spaces before or after the name, rename the network to something simpler. Once the device is online, a firmware update will start. Once updated successfully, return your network back to its previous settings. Set the Ring device back up to see if it will connect. Enable and connect to a guest network. A guest network is a separate access point for your network that is isolated from your other devices. By creating one, you can make a firewall-free network for your Ring device. Create a guest network with a simple, alphanumeric SSID name and password and connect your Ring device(s) to it. Wifi 6 (802.11 ax): If you have a wifi6 router in 802.11 af/ax mode and can't complete your setup, change your router or guest network to 802.11 b/g/n and complete your set up.

Posted .Hi ManuelV.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand how important it is to be able to clearly see who is at your door. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell Wired are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the video quality concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like you are enjoying the features your Ring Video Doorbell Wired has to offer, but the video quality is not what you expected. The Ring Video Doorbell Wired is a wired video doorbell that offers 1080p HD video. Poor wifi signal strength from your router could be the culprit for your video problems. Follow these steps to test your wifi signal strength:
Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Devices.
Select your device.
Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera.
Answer the event and examine the resulting video.
If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, this may be due to slow wifi speeds. Visit our support center for additional steps to test your wifi connection.

We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the installation issue you mentioned in your review.
We are happy to provide you with the installation instructions for your Ring Video Doorbell Wired.
Disconnect power to installation area at your circuit breaker or fuse box before beginning installation. Always use caution when handling electrical wiring. Installation by a qualified electrician may be required in your area. Refer to your local laws and building codes before performing electrical work; permits and/or professional installation may be required by law.
Bag A
(2) 1" Long mounting screws.
(2) Wall anchors.
Bag B
(2) 3/16" Security screws.
Bag C
(1) Jumper cable.
1. Find your doorbell chime.
Your Video Doorbell Wired gets its power from the doorbell system and is designed to replace an existing doorbell button. Ring your doorbell and listen for the chime. If it rings, your existing doorbell system is working.
Follow the sound to find your chime and make a note of the location.
2. Turn off power at the breaker.
If you're not sure which breaker controls your doorbell chime, turn off the master breaker for your home or contact an electrician.
3. Grab the included Jumper Cable.
The Jumper Cable bypasses and disables your existing doorbell chime and must be installed before you can install your Video Doorbell.
Your Video Doorbell Wired is compatible with doorbell systems supplying 10-24 volts AC, at 50 or 60 Hz, 20-40 VA max. The AC connector is a class 2 energy source.
4. Remove the cover from your doorbell chime.
After you've located your doorbell chime and turned off the power at the breaker, remove the cover from your chime and set it aside for now.
5. Loosen the "Front" and "Trans" terminal screws.
Make sure to keep the existing doorbell wires in place.
6. Connect the Jumper Cable.
Connect one end of the Jumper Cable to the "Front" terminal, and the other to the "Trans" terminal. It doesn't matter which wire you connect to which terminal. Be sure to tighten the terminal screws.
7. Uninstall your existing doorbell button.
Remove your doorbell from the wall. Disconnect the wires. Make sure they don't fall back inside your wall, so you can access them later.
8. Remove the faceplate.
Gently pull the faceplate off the unit by pulling it from the lower edge of the plate. Do not use excessive force. The faceplate should pop off easily.
9. Mark the screw holes.
Using your Video Doorbell Wired as a template, mark the location of the two mounting holes on the wall.
10 Install the anchors (optional).
On stucco, brick, or concrete, use a 1/4" (6mm) masonry bit to drill holes in your wall, then insert the included wall anchors. If you're installing on wood or siding, you can skip this step.
11. Connect the doorbell wires.
Loop one doorbell wire around each of the screw terminals on the rear of your Video Doorbell Wired, then tighten the terminals to secure.
12. Screw in your Ring Doorbell.
Mount your Video Doorbell Wired with the two included mounting screws. If you ran the wire through your wall, be sure to feed any excess wiring into the wall first.
When securing your Ring Video Doorbell Wired DO NOT USE any other mounting screw other than the one included.
If you are running the wire up your wall (instead of through it) DO NOT over-tighten the screws.
13. Restore power at the breaker.
It may take a moment for your Video Doorbell Wired to power on. You'll know it's ready when it lights up and speaks to you.
14. Secure your Ring Doorbell.
Re-attach the faceplate, then use the included screwdriver to drive the small security screw into the bottom of your Video Doorbell Wired.
We have included the steps here to set up your Ring Video Doorbell Wired in the Ring app for your reference:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Set Up a Device.
Tap Video Doorbells.
Tap the blue I’m Ready to Scan button.
Use your mobile device’s camera to scan the QR code on the device’s packaging.
When a green square and a pop-up with your device image appear, the code has been recognized.
Enter the location where your Ring Video Doorbell Wired is being set up.
If this is your first time setting up a Ring device, the Ring app will ask you to use your phone’s location services to pinpoint your location.
Give your doorbell a device name.
You can proceed with the device’s default name or give it a custom name.
Connect your doorbell to Ring.
iOS: Tap Join when the Ring app asks to join the Ring wifi network.
Android: If your device does not automatically connect to the Ring wifi network:
Exit the Ring app.
Go to your mobile device’s Settings.
Tap wifi.
Select either Ring- or Ring Setup.
Once connected, close your Settings app and return to the Ring app.
Tap Continue in the app when the blue light stops flashing.
Connect to your preferred wifi network.
Once your device automatically finalizes the setup process, it will be ready to use.
Our support team is available 24/7 if you have any questions or need further assistance getting your device set up.

Posted .Hi Happymom.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a consistent wifi signal on the Ring Video Doorbell Wired. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the connection issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not operating as intended. Video Doorbell Wired is a wired video doorbell that offers 1080p HD video with night vision and two-way audio with noise cancellation. With Ring Video Doorbell Wired, you can check in on your front door anytime, from anywhere, and can see and speak to visitors at your door in real time using your Ring app or Alexa-enabled device.
Ring devices require high speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can effect the performance of your Ring device. Identify and troubleshoot what is causing connectivity issues for Ring devices to give you the best possible video and audio experience.
To determine whether or not the problem is caused by poor upload speed, run a speed test to determine if your network can support Ring devices. Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In edition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable.
Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.
