Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased doorbell camera, two other cameras with lights, and extra batteries. Unfortunately this product constantly has issues. It only worked for the first two weeks and died the morning I went out of town (which was the whole purpose of getting it in the first place). The electrical connection on the doorbell went out a week after installation and I can’t figure out the issue. My doorbell has always worked before ring was installed. The other two cameras I purchased for the driveway are running out of battery at least weekly (good luck going on a trip for more than two weeks). It’s a weekly job to keep the camera batteries going. It’s not that cold and the batteries die in less than two weeks. After spending over $500 in cameras and extra batteries, none of them work. It’s more laborious to try and keep them going. Not a good product until the fix the battery life issue.

Posted .Hi TALA.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring devices so that you can have a longer time between charge cycles. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like your device's batteries are draining quickly. The batteries in Ring devices are designed to go months between charges under normal conditions. However, real battery life is dependent on a number of factors, such as local weather, the number of events captured, and the frequency of activation.
You can go to Power Settings in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
To access Power Settings, open the Ring app:
Tap the three lines on the top left.
Tap Devices
Tap the individual device (doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap the Power Settings tile.
You can check your Battery Status:
Battery Level percentage
Featured Power Usage
Tap the small arrow to the right of the feature name.
To navigate back to the main screen, tap the < sign on the top left.
You can check:
Snapshot Capture
Motion Frequency
Advanced Motion Detection

Posted .Hi user853517.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. The features and technology provided by the Ring Video Doorbell Wired are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like there was some confusion regarding the abilities of the Ring Video Doorbell Wired. The Ring Video Doorbell Wired requires an existing doorbell as a power supply but does not sound your existing chime. To hear audio alerts in your home, you can pair it with a Ring Chime or compatible Alexa device. If you do not have a Ring Chime, you can connect your Ring device to your existing Alexa-enabled device by following these steps:
First, you’ll need to download the Alexa app on your mobile device or tablet. Get the Alexa app from the Apple App Store (iOS devices) or the Google Play Store (Android devices).
You may also need to update your mobile device's operating system.
If you already have the Ring app, you'll need to ensure you have the latest version.
Next, follow these steps to add Ring as a skill in the Alexa app:
Open the Alexa app and go to More.
Tap Skills & Games
Tap the Search icon, enter Ring, then select it from the results.
Type Ring into the search field
Tap Ring (first result)
Tap Enable to Use
Sign in with your Ring account details to link your Ring and Amazon accounts.
Tap Enable Skill and Link Accounts.
If your account is already linked, tap Enable Skill
Once the Skill is enabled, tap Discover Devices
Alexa will be enabled on all of your Ring devices. To disable Alexa from a particular device, tap Forget next to the device name
Note: If your Ring devices do not appear after you tap Discover Devices, you can say, “Alexa, discover my devices,” or tap the Devices icon at the bottom right corner of the Alexa app.

Don't buy Ring Doorbell. Doesn't work Known defect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t buy Ring Doorbell. This product has known flaws by the company, and they refuse to do anything to fix the product. Do not buy Ring Doorbell if you live in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Parts of New York, Iowa, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, Alaska, All Canada, Upper Illinois, Ohio, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and anywhere else in the world where the temperature gets cold. 10 Degree or colder and Ring Doorbell will not work. I called Ring Doorbell and they said their batteries do not work in the cold and they refuse to do anything to address the problem. They tell you your just out of luck wait until the temperature warms up and the Ring Doorbell should work again. Also, the battery should charge when wired to your old doorbell, but it doesn’t. Ring doorbell says you must bring the battery inside and charge the battery because it won’t charge if hard wired to your existing doorbell. What a poorly designed product. Ring Doorbell should be held accountable for selling a known defective and poor product that they know will not work if it gets cold. They should not be allowed to sell the product in any of the states listed above since they know the product will not work when it gets cold. Ring Doorbell are criminals and need to be held accountable for selling products that they know will not work.

No Auto-Reconnect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Be advised that I was told by Ring Customer Service that it is expected that Wired Ring Doorbell will lose connection every time there is a loss of power or wifi loss, and the only resolution is to do the physical reset on the device. The Customer Service person acknowledged that there is incorrect information in Ring usage database that indicates Doorbells will auto reconnect once power is restored. I was told this is incorrect and that physical reset is required every time. I live in area that has brief power glitches all the time and thus my only solution is to do the physical reset process on the device all the time. I find this totally unacceptable given all my other devices from Google, Apple, etc. auto reconnect. I can only speak to the wired version but shame on Ring for selling junk.

Posted .Hello Jeff,
Thank you for taking the time to share your Ring Video Doorbell Wired experience with us directly. We appreciate it! Having a reliable device that stays online consistently is important. This ensures your home is protected whether you are home or away. Rest assured, we are here to determine the root cause of your device losing its wifi connection and dropping offline often with you.
You are correct, if the home's power is lost, it is likely that the home's wifi router will be powered off as well. A wifi connection is required in order for the Ring Doorbell's to communicate with the Ring app and send you motion and door ding notifications. Wifi signal strength, or the RSSI, plays a significant role in keeping your device online and connected consistently. The following are symptoms of poor wifi signal strength:
Live View may have trouble connecting.
The doorbell or security camera may disconnect from wifi and have trouble reconnecting.
Video or audio quality may be reduced or distorted.
Your notifications may be delayed or miss Motion Events.
This article details further explanations as to what could be causing the disconnections of your device and how to resolve them: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/217271526-Understanding-RSSI-Values-and-WiFi-Signal-Strength.

Ring is view of the future.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera view from your cellphone is the best feature of the device. The feature i didn't like was the lack of integration of the unit with existing chime. I hope the next generation will include existing door chime.

Posted .Hello WilliamR,
The Ring Video Doorbell Wired requires an existing doorbell as a power supply but does not sound your existing chime. To hear audio alerts in your home, pair with a Ring Chime or compatible Alexa device. There are other Ring doorbell models such as the Wired Doorbell Plus and Wired Doorbell Pro that will ring your home's internal chime kit, however, the Ring Video Doorbell Wired is designed not to.
