Good Product

Not charging correctly
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sad to say it’s not charging like it’s supposed to. I have the exact panel 50 feet away set in the same position with the sun on another cam, and it does fine with one battery. I ended up purchasing a second battery for the cam, but doesn’t charge up. I even turned the cam off from videoing in hope it would charge up. But nothing. I restarted and cam cleaned the panel, but it seems to barely be charging. I feel it’s not putting out the 4watts like it states in the specifications. I might try contacting the manufacturer or Best Buy on getting another panel.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring camera so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like you are experiencing issues with the device in regards to battery life. The Ring Solar Panel is designed to provide a trickle charge to the Ring camera to extend the amount of time between charging cycles. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal performance. Be sure to fully charge your Ring Quick Release Battery Pack prior to connecting the Ring Solar Panel to the camera.
While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring camera, the more your battery is used to power the live HD video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the live view to look or speak through your camera.
The device's battery level may vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. It is important to ensure that your Ring Solar Panel is installed correctly and that it is receiving enough direct sunlight to operate as intended. For best performance, Ring recommends at least two to three hours of direct sunlight for the Ring Solar Panel. With the recommended amount of direct sunlight, the device will remain continuously charged under most conditions.
Make sure there are no obstructions or objects that could cast a shadow on your solar panel, such as an extended roof, tree, or bush. Seasonality and how far north (or south) you live can affect the strength of the sun. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, install your solar panel facing south. If you live in the southern hemisphere, install it facing north. Ring recommends using the adjustable arm to angle the panel at about 45 degrees toward the sky to get the most sunlight possible.
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Solar Panel, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Delivery was perfect. Note- be careful. This solar panel is known to not work with the Ring Camera Pro- this information was from a Ring customer service person. I have been waiting for months for a replacement after less than a month of use. Ring is apologetic but is not replacing the solar panel any time soon. I have Plus cameras with solar panels and there are no issues. Be sure to do your research before buying this solar panel for the Pro camera.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

Rest assured, we are here to provide you with a concrete resolution as quickly as possible.
It sounds like you have some concerns regarding your Ring Solar Panel working with your security camera. The Ring Solar Pane is designed for use with Ring USB Type C cameras, including Ring Spotlight Cam Plus and Spotlight Cam Pro models. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand how important it is for your devices to work consistently and reliably. The Ring Solar Panel was certainly intended to extend the battery life on your Ring device, so you can rely on your security device for longer periods of time without recharging the battery. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like you have some concerns with your Ring Solar Panels keeping your devices charged. In order to extend the lifetime of the lithium-ion battery, your Ring Solar Panel will not begin charging your battery until its percentage drops below 90%. You may see the solar device’s status as “Not Connected” in the Ring app when your battery is over a 90% charge, and this is normal.
Ring solar devices require 3 to 4 hours of direct sunlight a day. If the weather is cloudy or you get a lot of snow, this would limit the hours of direct sunlight your device is receiving, which would lessen the charge. Colder temperatures can also cause excessive drain on your lithium-ion battery. Visit our support center for additional information.

The Ring Solar Panel was certainly intended to extend the battery life on your Ring security camera, so you can rely on your security device for longer periods of time without recharging the battery. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like your Ring security camera battery is draining more quickly than your Ring solar panel is charging it. Ring solar devices require 3 to 4 hours of direct sunlight a day. Colder temperatures can also cause excessive drain on your lithium-ion battery.
If your battery life is still relatively short even with plenty of direct sunlight, motion events are probably draining the power. Try adjusting your motion sensitivity slider and optimizing your motion frequency. Visit our support center for additional information.
