No Poop Detection—Major Flaw

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was initially impressed with Roborock’s features and intelligent navigation, but my experience turned unexpectedly disappointing due to a serious design oversight. My device ran its scheduled cleaning while I was away and unfortunately encountered a small amount of dog feces. Instead of detecting and avoiding it, the robot vacuumed and mopped it across the entire home, leaving a biohazardous mess and causing irreversible contamination inside the unit. When I took the product to Best Buy, they refused service and cited "biohazard waste" as an exclusion under their protection plan. They documented that the damage was due to animal bodily fluids, and thus non-repairable or returnable. This was not user negligence—accidents can happen with pets—but a robot marketed as "smart" should be able to detect such hazards or at least stop and alert the owner. The lack of detection led to a significant health and cleaning issue and rendered a costly product useless. I reached out to Roborock hoping for support, but as of now, no resolution has been offered. For a premium device, I expect accountability for design limitations, especially those that lead to health risks or total device failure. Until Roborock addresses this design issue (with better hazard detection or poop-avoidance AI like some competitors now offer), I cannot recommend this product for pet owners. This was an expensive and extremely frustrating experience.

We are sorry to know that there was an accident when you used the robot vacuum.
We would like to clarify first that the robot can only recognize and avoid everyday objects larger than 2in wide, and 1.1in tall.
It uses an image AI recognition algorithm to avoid pet poop. The AI recognition algorithm is trained by learning a large number of poop images, but the real poop form varies. Therefore the algorithm has a certain probability of failure.
Even the best AI technology at present is not able to recognize all objects 100% accurately due to odds existing in real usage scenarios. However, we will keep gathering user's feedback and testing learning samples to improve obstacle avoidance strategy and recognition accuracy. Customer could upgrade firmware to latest version to get the update and this problem will be improved with advances in technology.

Overpriced and inefficient

It looks fancy and has a lot of bells and whistles, but it isn't that good at its purpose. We got it because it was marketed as one of the best vacuums for pet hair, that is a lie. We run it daily, and every 2 days, it gets clogged. We have 1 dog that hardly sheds, but because the thin inlet is so small, it keeps getting clogged. If you have pets, save your money and go with something cheaper, then you won't be as disappointed when it doesn't work. The mopping feature does a good job at getting the floor wet. that's about it. It doesn't get anything up, and even with the proprietary cleaning solution, it leaves the floor dull and still dirty looking. I emailed roborock 2 weeks ago to address the issue and haven't gotten a response. We will be returning this and getting our money back. I'm extremely disappointed.

Obstacle avoidence and mopping

Obstacle avoidance doesn’t work most of the time. It detects cables, but somehow still gets tangled in them. It moves and folds the toilet mat, getting stuck in the process. I bought it because my cat’s litter was spreading all over the house, but I’m not satisfied. Since the robot gets stuck, I come home to find that the house hasn’t been cleaned. The mopping feature is extremely weak. Mustard was spilled on the floor, and the robot couldn’t clean it. Not only did it fail to remove the stain, but it also spread mustard all over the room. Even the bottom of the robot was covered in mustard. Additionally, it couldn’t clean the mop properly, as there are still yellow stains on it, despite using the cleaning solution. For me, it was just a disappointment. I think I’ll wait another year or two before buying a robot vacuum again.

Error straight out of the box

Mapped out the house which was quick and accurate, updated the software, let it charge fully, then tried to run the machine. Error- Robot to Dock communication failed. Does not detect water in the bin, does not try to fill the mop, will not empty dust bin, all related to the error. Vacuum works fine, but will not mop. Called customer service, all troubleshooting failed so they escalated. Escalated troubleshooting attempts also failed. Note: they require a receipt and the model number to be emailed to them for proof of purchase: They charge a lot for this model to not be able to use it. I really wanted this machine to work. The mapping was quick and accurate and the device pattern while cleaning is meticulous but if it won’t empty the dustbin, even the vacuuming will be rendered useless. Will have to return.

Don’t buy

I paid 2000 for this product didn’t even include a sample of their cleaning solution. I bought the solution for 20 dollars and I don’t even think the robot even mixed the solution. What a rip off. I returned the robot. Not worth the price. Their app also has a lot of flaws

Should do better for how much it cost
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We’ve had this for 3 months. I had higher expectations for what we paid. The app could be a lot more user friendly. There’s one room we just cannot seem to get the right floor type and we’ve caught it mopping the carpet. It does not pick up liter from cat liter boxes which was one of the main reasons we got this. I had it make 5 passes through a room and it still didn’t pick up the liter. Also - the vacuum bags only fill to less than half before it insists you change it. The replacement bags are not cheap and of course there’s no generic brand alternative. It does not fo well with old carpet. The suction is so powerful it pulls the fibers out in places. It also leaves llittle dust bunnies behind that you have to pick up. This is not worth the price.
