    I needed this to connect my new 60" HDTV to my older AV Receiver that did not have an HDMI input. Luckily the new HDTV had an Optical Audio Output so I could connect it to the AV Receiver. Saved me from having to buy a new one! The sound quality is awesome.

    I run sound from my new Roku 4 through a Sony Amp to power my home theater, and Roku 4 only has a digital optical out, no HDMI out, so this cable was my solution. Good tight plug in (I've seen some that don't connect well), and the sound is great.
