Almost Good Banana Plugs

I believe a set screw to hold wire in place would help this product tremendously.

I purchased these to use with of course speaker wire. These were a pain to connect the wire inside, the sire was very thin and would not fit. Was a lot easier to run the wire though the back of the speaker. Came with some time connectors which also did not work, Wasn't needed, and also they are expensive. If you don't need them (You probably wont) avoid the hassle.

The tricky part is getting the cheesy plastic compression clamp to actually clamp on the wire and the connector. It took about 3 or 4 times for me to get it too hold then I held my breath as I plugged it in. As long as I never have to touch it again and gravity is destracted it might continue to work.

Not what I expected

First of all these plugs are meant to be used with larger size speaker cables at least 10 or 14 gauge. It has a 'spear' type tip that should bury into the middle of the cable but it will not work with gauges that are 16, the cable will just easily pull off the plug. They should show the inside of the connector on the package so that the buyer is aware of what they are getting.

The point that is supposed to be stuck into the wire simply doesn't stay put while trying to screw the end cap on. It keeps falling out of the wire. Very frustrating. I would actually return them except I threw out the product packaging already.

These were the only ones available in store. For me, these did NOT work. The compression sleeve did not hold. I returned the product.

For such a simple concept, these miss the mark in every way. They come with a valve like device that is meant to fasten around the speaker wire from within the banana plug that is hard to get set appropriately and then doesn't really create a snug fit.

Not Worth the Hassle

My assumption is, these are made for thicker speaker wire, not the type of speaker wire that comes with a surround system. I was not able to get the wires to stay in the plug. Any time I had to move my amplifier, the speaker wires would come out of the plug.

The collars provided (2 sizes) are too large for in wall speaker wire. I returned the banana plugs since they won’t work with my speaker wire.
