Well, helped to do the trick. Was setting up a new Bose Cinemate sound bar but have an old cable box so didn't have HDMI cable. Using the optical audio cable and an old coaxial cable my sound bar now works. Tiny thing but I had never used an optical audio cable before it took me a few minutes to realize the tiny plastic tips need to be removed first :)

It works and sound great. It's a cable what more could you want.

This sound bar gives big sound for any room, could not believe the quality of the vocals and the wireless sub does a great job filling the room with bass.

Rocketfish may not like to hear it, but they are definitely "Brand X." Compared to the high-priced name-brand alternatives, you get (at least with this type of interconnect) the same thing, with connectors that (unlike other Brand X connectors) are not evidently cheap and flimsy, and do not easily become detached from the cable itself. Optical connects usually either work or they don't, since the only thing they need to do is get the light from point A to point B. The problems occur when the construction is so flimsy that the cable pulls away from the lens port connector at each end of the interconnect, usually because they are not attached well, and pull away. I have pulled cheap links out of their connector merely trying to disconnect them from the equipment. But I've never had a problem like this with Rocketfish optical interconnect cables. Realistically, these are now a commodity item, and if you're going to buy Brand X, this is the brand to buy. They are not only good enough, but as good, IMHO, as the brand-name cables.

Had a 3' cable but needed more so I purchased this 4' Digital Optical Audio Cable and it works great.

There is not a lot to write about on an optical cable. I recently purchased a TV that only had optical outputs for the sound. I didn't realize this until I got home with the TV. Luckily a quick trip back to Best Buy and I found this on the open box rack. Plugged right in and worked great. I would suggest reading at the outputs on your tv before leaving the store, or just pick this up as you will need it at some point.

Rocketfish™ - 4' Digital Optical Audio Cable , I really likes this little optical cord, Nice Quality and Good Price for one. The ones that usually come inside the boxes with TV's and Sounds Bars are pretty cheap This one is very nice.

This allowed my TV to connect to an Onkyo AV receiver. Worked well and hooked up easy.
