A: At first I did the same thing. You have to connect all three. I used this kind of cable for all three. Directv box to the TV, TV to the sound bar.
Q: is the RF-G1218 COMPATIBLE WITH APPLE TV
A: yes, I use them on my apple tv
Q: What is the difference between this cable and a 1mm low-loss core cable?
A: Sound clarity!
Q: how do i connect samsung sound bar hw-5550 to sony bravia kdl-55w900a
A: There are a couple of options that can be considered here. First thing you need to do is check to see what kind of audio connection your TV and sound bar has. If both have optical audio then the connection won't be difficult. But if the television has a coaxial audio cable then you've hit a snag. There is something you can buy on amazon to go from a coaxial input to an optical audio output. Another option would be connecting the optical audio cable from the sound bar to the digital cable box. I have a DVR time warner cable box and mine has an optical audio connection so I'm assuming that yours does as well. Hope this helps.
Q: An observation not a question
A: Remember to remove covers on cable prior to install. Fortunately, the sales person told me about this.
Q: Should this work with my Harman Kardon sound bar?
A: I had that issue initially until I realized that you have to pull off the clear rubber caps. I wish they provided instructions for those of us not used to working with optical cable.
Q: How do you prepare the cable for use?
A: Tips must be off and they only go in one way. Line it up and it should work great
