Brought it back to Best Buy and the employees tried it on some TV's in the store. Sure enough, the cables would not fit in the HDMI ports... Hopefully just a defective set of cables

We spent three weeks trying everything under the son until we finally went and bought an Apple HDMI cable. Problem solved immediately. This may be a good cable, but not for Apple TV.

I DO NOT recommend this cable for this configuration. Many hours of troubleshooting were solved by changing out this cable.

Not good with 4K tv - laptop

I replaced it with other cable that one works just fine. It’s been more than a month idk if I can return or replace this cable or not.

CNET claims HDMI cables either work or do not work with no variation in picture or sound quality. In my experience both cables were identical in performance despite the price difference.
