I bought this item last night and hooked it up to my Bose system. This afternoon i went to use it and it did not work at all. Waste of money i should have purchased the BOSE one and now i would not have to drive back to the store. Don't buy this.

If you're looking for a simple device that enables you to use older stereo equipment with a bluetooth device, this is it. I connected this device to my old stereo receiver using an optical cable (not included) and it works perfectly. The unit comes with a standard 3.5mm male/male cable as well as a 3.5mm to RCA (red and white) adapter.

Picked this up after purchasing and returning the HomeSpot NFC-Enabled Bluetooth Audio Receiver from Amazon. I returned the HomeSpot because it couldn't make it through a song without cutting out. So immediately after getting this set up I turned it on and walked all over my house, as far as I could get, including upstairs. It never lost signal and the sound was great (for bluetooth).

I love Pandora and my wife wanted me to pipe holiday music through our whole house speakers for Thanksgiving. I have an older receiver/amplifier and was doubtful I could fulfill her wish. Went to local Best Buy and a sales rep told me this product would do the job. Simple to hook up and works flawlessly. Got a lot of compliments on my music for Thanksgiving.

Connected the unit to my receiver with a digital optical cable, connected it to my smartphone via Bluetooth and had music streaming to my speakers in a matter of minutes. Excellent sound and the Bluetooth connection range is outstanding.

    Works Great, but be noted.

I discovered this devise when I was looking for something to hook up my TV that has a optical output to a receiver that I have that does not have an optical input. (no longer using the old DVD player which had been hooked up to the receiver and had just purchased a smart tv adapter and wanted to listen to music from it.) So figured with all the Bluetooth devises we have I'd give this a try and still make use of the receiver/speakers I have. So anyway it works great, clear sound. But be noted, when I first hooked it up I used the "Phono" inputs on my receiver (ones that would have been used for a turntable) and the sound was horrible (not clear/static), so I switched them over to "Tape In" inputs and it was fine. So if at first it does work, try switching it around before you return it.

Works great with 10 yr old Yamaha A/V Reciever

Was looking for a way to play smartphone music through my Yamaha RX-V1500 Audio/Video receiver. The Rocketfish works great. I'm using both outputs at the same time, the 3.5 mm analog output and the Optical Digital Audio output. I connected the 3.5 mm (through the provided RCA splitter) to the CD RCA analog inputs on the back of the receiver. This allows the smartphone music to be heard through the Zone 2 speakers since Zone 2 only supports analog input. I connected the Optical Digital Audio cable to the CD Optical input on the back of the receiver (had to purchase a separate Optical Digital Audio cable since none is provided). This allows the music to be hard through the Zone 1 speakers which supports 7 Channel Stereo mode (front, center, back speakers) which sounds awesome. As noted above when I want to listen to my smartphone (music stored on it or Pandora, or whatever) I just select CD as the source on the Yamaha unit. The bluetooth pairing is a piece of cake. Paired it to two phones.

This receiver quickly converted my analog stereo receiver so I can play music from my Smartphone. It took less than five minutes. to hook up. I do not have to purchase a new receiver due to this small investment. It saved the day.

I purchased this to stream from my iMac to my old Sony receiver. Worth the $49 to upgrade old components. The sound quality is excellent. Now I can stream my iTunes library and Pandora. Highly recommended.

I used this as an input to my mixer to provide music for a banquet and let people connect via Bluetooth to play music from their phones instead of using a cable. It worked great!

I have recently replaced this unit with a Chromecast Audio, through no fault of its own. My problem is I wanted to get away from the Bluetooth connectivity. I needed to purchase an additional optical audio cable because my receiver didn't have a 3.5mm input. Pairing was simple, and the streaming quality seems really good with the inclusion of apt-x. I bought this open-box for around $25, which I feel is a fantastic value. Not sure I'd pay full price for it.

The sound quality is good playing through my AV receiver, but the Bluetooth range is medicre. If I walk about 18 feet away from the receiver (unobstructed distance) the signal from my Galaxy begins to cut out -- If the limited range isn't an issue it does what it should.

This device works perfectly, and just as I expected. 1) I plugged this device's power into the switched outlet on the back of my receiver, 2) ran an optical digital cable (toslink) between the two, 3) told my receiver to use that digital input, 4) paired my tablet with this device. Done. Worked. Remote digital sound from my "old" receiver.
