Just a vacuum cleaner, that's all!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just a vacuum cleaner, that's all! Very bulky, attachments very bulky, attachments are OK, but not very versatile. I should've just bought a Hoover, would've saved a lot of money! At least with the Hoover or any other vacuum cleaner, that has a good motor, I would've got a hose, which is more versatile, and more practical! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

Good vacuum but not great.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased this vacuum to use for general cleaning and also for vacuuming pet hair from carpets and hard wood floors. While it has many features that are nice it lacks suction and leaves a lot of pet hair in the carpet. The XL canister is still small compared to some of the competitors and the cord is much shorter than the Dyson Animal. If i was recommending a vacuum to a friend I would tell them to go with the Dyson Animal for overall performance.

A little bang for big bucks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Barely used and the hose split. Now my vacuum is useless

Ehh..
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For 400 bucks this vacuum is definitely not worth the money. We have the shark rocket and it will run circles around this thing. It wouldn't even pick up loose cat litter on a hard wood floor. We packed it back up within an hour and took it back. Save your time. Get the rocket. Its 149 bucks and 10 times the machine. Trust me. I run it twice a day everyday. (cats).

Loved it the first few days
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was great the first couple days then the wheel fell off and continued to fall off every few minutes while trying to vacuum. It had great versitility, I loved hooking the hose up so quickly. For a few days I loved it better than my Kirby but it turned into too much trouble to even pull out.

Best vacuum I've ever owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this vacuum 6 years ago and it's the the strongest most versatile vacuum I've ever had. My only issue is that just recently it stopped working so I've had to find a replacement. Even though it only lasted me 6 years, I would definitely have purchased again if it was available.

Not good enough
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It would be good cleaner. It worked quite ok at the beginning. However, it started to loose suction pretty soon. We returned it and bought a Dyson.

Couldn't be HAPPIER!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never gone back after purchase to write a review, but I just HAD to. AH. MAY. ZING. Dog hair is the bane of my existence. I was so frustrated with my previous vacuum, all the effort for disgusting results. (Berber carpet, labrador retriever). This really gets the hair, all surfaces. As the hair was my main focus, I was able to look past the lack of retractable cord. I use it mostly positioned on the caddy, rather than as an upright, lets me switch to tools easily. When using it in the caddy, I could use more hose length, but not a deal-breaker. Love the light on the handle, so you can see the corners of closets where all the cobwebs collect. Attachments are super, lots of options. WORTH the $$$.

Buy it on Sale, and it's 100% worth it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At a $399 regular price, it's a bit of a steep price to pay for a vacuum cleaner. But if you can manage to pick it on while it's on sale, I think anyone would be 100% satisfied with it. I was using a Hoover Pet variant vacuum cleaner for over a year. It worked, but it was super loud, emptying the dust bin was messy and every time I used it I would ge a "dust" smell in the apartment. So after doing a lot of research I decided I wanted to buy this Shark vacuum cleaner, but I didn't want to pay $399.99. I waited and after a few weeks, it went on sale and I immediately put in my order. My new Shark vacuum cleaner is more compact, quieter, easier/neater when emptying the dust bin, more effective at cleaning even under my furniture and bed, and the overall quality is super high. I also no longer experience a "dust" smell after vacuuming anymore! As an owner, i'm super satisfied and I look forward to vacuuming now... which is kind of weird.

Better than Dyson and Kirby!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In 16 years I have owned two different models of Kirby vacuums and two different Dyson vacuums (my second Dyson I am replacing with this Shark and have had it for maybe 1 year), I am not a newbie when it comes to vacuums and have spent way too much on them over the years. Kirby is completely different than the Dyson or Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away XL, so I am not even going to use that vacuum in my comparison. I will be comparing the Shark to my Dyson Animal Ball that I have had for a year. The main reason why I purchased this Dyson is because I needed a new vacuum for my stairs. The little hand held Eureka I was using just was not cutting it. I got tired of having two separate vacuums and wanted one that can do it all. This Shark was the only one that completely checked off my requirements. The biggest difference with the Shark is there is not a huge wind tunnel inside the canister taking up space. That wind tunnel thing in the Dyson would collect dust and build up over time and you can not get it out with out a lot of cleaning, and dust in your face. Also the Shark canister opens on the bottom and the top! No more reaching inside or pounding the canister on the floor to get those big clumps out! The Shark wand is made of metal, the Dyson is flimsy plastic. The handle on the shark is thick solid plastic with rubber grips and feels good in your hand. The Dyson handle is a thin flimsy plastic that feels like a toy. The hose on the Shark is much shorter, but the Dyson hose is longer however it twisted very easily and wasn't very functional. Since the Shark can also be a canister vac, it has plenty of hose length. This Shark is heavy, but that is because of the quality materials being used and I do not find it to be a negative thing like some of the other reviewers. I would rather it be heavy with quality than light with cheap flimsy materials. My Dyson is very light but cheap flimsy materials. The main brush head on the Shark is much shorter than the Dyson, so it takes more passes to finish a room, I am not sure if there is any benefit to a shorter brush head or not. The Shark is a bit quieter than the Dyson, not so high pitch of a noise. The Dyson would fluff up the carpet pile a bit making it look not as matted down, the shark did a fantastic job on the high traffic areas and you could no longer see that it was a high traffic area. I vacuumed both of the rooms that I vacuum on a regular basis. I first went over it with the Dyson, plenty of fuzzy fluff stuff in the canister. I did the same two rooms immediately after with this Shark. There was a really dense/thick clump in the canister. What really had me impressed was the amount of very fine dust and particles that completely coated entire inside of the canister. My favorite features is the lift away and how easy it is to vacuum my stairs. I have not used all of the attachments yet, except for the mini motorized brush. I have 4 kids, no cats or dogs, and we do not wear out shoes in the house, I can't comment on how well this works for pet hair.

never being happier
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am super happy after the very 1st use on 1 room, super strong suction, and got motivate to keep going vacuum all the rooms of the house at once. I always did 2 rooms at a time for yrs, but now I can do the whole house (3200+ sq ft) at once, a lot faster and a lot cleaner without effort. Not Like with my old one, I used to recheck and pick up many lints used to be left over. but no more with this new XL Shark one. I am glad that I did the right decision! after a few nights read a lot of reviews from many web sites, of the top brands and models, Finally, purchased this super good, high efficient, and very happy that it save me a lot of time to vacuum my house.

The verdict is......
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had it for 24 hours and I'm unsure about it. I vacuumed 3500 square feet of low and medium pile carpet, as well as some wood and tile floors. A few things good and bad were apparent with the first use. The vac has a motor that when using the handheld mode takes off like lightening. You better hang on or it will vacuum without you. That said, the handheld was effortless to use. When used as an upright, however, it's not the easiest vac to control. I felt like I was drunk vacuuming as it's a bit tipsy and requires more effort to control. By the time I was done, I had a hot spot on my hand from hanging on and the effort needed to push it. I am actually considering putting on my bike glove next time. Seriously. The thing I thought I'd dislike the most was the smaller width of the vacuum head. As it turns out, it works a lot better around my furniture than my big, heavy, bulky Dyson ever did. It slides easily under furniture and bathroom cabinets. The things I don't like might be deal breakers. The competition advertises snagless brushes and I wish this Shark had that feature. Granted, I did a lot of vacuuming yesterday, but found that I had to snip the tangles from each of the brushes. If I have to do that every time I vacuum, then that's a no-go. Also, the contents of the bin do not always empty without help. The vac was really good at picking up my kitties long hair, but when emptying, I had to pull some of the dirt and hair out by hand.Yuck. I do like that it has top and bottom emptying ports. Most just empty from the bottom. Also when the bin opens any dust particles present come spewing into the air and over the trash bin. Baby powder from the bathroom carpet made a particularly big mess. Another yuck. I lke and don't like the cord. It's so long I was able to vacuum the downstairs from a main floor outlet. That's a plus. Then again, it's so long it also got in my way on multiple occasions. It could be a trip hazard for uncoordinated house cleaners like me. And of course, it doesn't retract automatically forcing me to either wind it up or just throw it in the closet loose, which is what I did. Another annoyance for me is that the vac couldn't pick up pieces of kitty litter in the corners or tight spaces where the carpet folds meet. I don't want to have to use a crevice tool after I've just used the stair tool. The noise is a reasonable level for a vacuum. Low enough that the cats didn't run when I came near them. Like all of the home vacs today, it's made of plastic. That scares me, but I guess that's the price for a lighter weight vac. So my verdict is, it's not a perfect design, it did it's job, and I'll probably keep it, but I'll have to wear bike gloves and definitely not drink before vacuuming.
