I bought the Samsung Chromebook to take on business trips, as I travel pretty much every week of the year. My Dell laptop is just too heavy to lug around, and the Chromebook is about a third of the weight of my laptop. My main need is to take notes and record what is happening while I am in day-long customer meetings. I used to hand write these notes, then moved to my laptop with the Evernote app, and now use my Chromebook. Even though most of the time I am offline while taking my notes, I can easily create a Google doc, which saves to the hard drive until it has a chance to sync with Google drive when I finally connect to the internet. I also use this device for managing my work emails. I will typically kick off the hotspot feature on my iPhone, and then connect my Chromebook. It is a fast and easy way to keep up with the dozens of emails that I have to handle each day. In my opinion, if you are a traveling business professional, this Chromebook is for you. You can use it offline (although it is definitely limited in what you can do or access, so plan ahead and have documents, sheets, and email open prior to losing a Wifi signal), and all changes automatically sync up once you have a Wifi signal again. PROS: *it is very inexpensive *it is very light *battery life is excellent *you CAN work offline *easy to set up multiple accounts on the home screen for multiple users (my daughter set up her account, and can access all of her school work since our district makes all of the kids have a Google drive account) *it is very fast to boot up *the intel chip makes everything very responsive *it can handle all of your Google email (my company is using Google email for our corporate account, so it is a no-brainer for me), Google docs and Google drive *headphone jack / USB port / MicroSD port CONS *offline usage can be limited, but as I said above, you can still function offline as long as you plan ahead *only one USB port, which may be an issue for some folks (not me) We will have to see about durability, although I do not expect that to be a problem. I have had my Chromebook for about two months now, and it is as good as day one. Although, even if for unforeseen reason it falls apart after a year or two, well I will just buy a new one because of how inexpensive it is. Overall, I give this Chromebook two thumbs up. The price is right, the weight is low, and the usability is there. If you are utilizing Gmail, Google docs, and Google drive, then it is certainly a no-brainer. If you are just looking for something to surf the web with and check non-Google email, then you are fine with this machine.
