I purchased this Samsung top load WA5R5400AV/US just under two years ago in July of 2019. The washer stopped working. It fills, agitates, and drains, but will not spin. I tried Quick Wash, Normal Wash, Rinse + Spin, and Spin only. It will spin a little bit and stop. The Automatic Test Cycle seems to work fine. Spin gets up to 250 RPM which is much slower than the typical 1030 RPM, but perhaps this is normal for the test mode. The Error Code are 8C1, 4C, Ub, and dC. Ub and dC are unbalance codes. This washer is often unbalanced, so those do not seem unusual. The 4C code means water will not fill tub, which I think is related to the real problem , the 8C1 code which means there is a problem with the motor or control board, either of which will be a very expensive fix. I don't think its the motor, because as I already mentioned, the automatic test cycle worked well. That means it is probably a wiring problem or the control board. The Samsung certified service repair tech starts at $130 for the service call. I can't recommend a product that breaks down in less than 2 years. Before it broke, I was happy with this purchase. It does look nice. The matching dryer, purchased at same time, is also having issues. It does not always stop when it hits the end of the timed cycle. Both machines having mechanical problems in less than 2 years is too much of a coincidence.

I’ll be returning this unit for the second time and take my chances on other brand. After many loads unit does a poor job at cleaning clothe and leaves them smelly. Unit also vibrates excessively on spin when manual says it should not. Highly recommend you stand by washer and observe complete wash if you decide to purchase before your 15 day return window. I had to resort to this after noticing my clothe dirty and smelly. I could not even smell added detergent and boy was I surprised at what I saw. Read more for details. During “wash” process it took 20 mins before added clothe (med load) was finally wet. Clothe was never fully submerged. “Wash” step took about 28 to complete. Also, clothe that started at the top, ended at the top meaning clothe does not move around or rotate. During “rinse” process nothing happened. Clothe was glued to wall and water poured from the top to bottom of tub missing clothe and never filling the tub, not even a 1/2 inch. Where did the water go? My guess outer tub. Then the spin occurred. Other cons: dispenser location and how you can easily miss or pore detergent on housing. Compartment should extend farther out. Bestbuy Customer service was bad. Spent about 3 hours in all between them and geek squad on phone in trying to resolve washer issue and getting answers. They finally instructed me to call Samsung but offered no help when I informed them they were closed due to being the weekend. Samsung, you should provide direct responses to the reviews instead of pasting a link. Today I ordered new non -Samsung washer, not from Bestbuy. Hoping quality and service improve.
