OK, Let me simplify the process to get to the point... 1. Three weeks ago - Purchased the LG 60 7300 FOR $899 on sale. Started watching hockey and was blinded by motion Blur.... RETURNED 2. Two Weeks ago - Purchased Higher end Sony Bravia XBR 65X850C ‑ 65.... Began to watch my big bad bruins once again the motion blur was horrible and the picture was unimpressive for $2k..... RETURNED 3. Yesterday ......purchased the LG 60 7700 ..... Even worse motion blur while watching hockey than the lower end 7300......RETURNED 4. TODAY - Purchased the UN55JS8500 - This TV is fantastic - Hockey (which is the hardest sport to reduce motion blur) looks perfect. This TV is made with top quality components and it shows from form, fit, finish, to performance.... Spend the extra if you have it and you will not be disappointed. The picture on this TV is extremely easy on the eyes and looks perfect.

Amazing Color - live sports are spectacular

I've owned this tv for less than 12 hours but I AM IMPRESSED! The setup seems easy enough. Learning the menu and extras not so easy but I guess something with this many extras requires more than 8 hours of ownership to learn it. the first thing you notice in watching live sports is how DEEP all the colors are! and as a neat (if not novel) bonus - you can switch on the 3D and your HD broadcast is in 3d. Although at this point I should say that only the samsun active glasses did the job. The extra pair of passive glasses from Sony did not work. The remote is shockingly simple. I didnt think it would do all I needed from a remote - but thats before I found the pointer feature - you turn that on and you POINT to the icon overlays on the tv screen to pick your choices. I got this on Sale for 1500 but I would say even at 2000 this is a TV that will not let you down!

So far so good. Love the smart features and the smoothness of apps. 4k picture is ridiculously amazing! but still very limited content for 4k. 4k movies are usually at least 30 bucks to buy. Good picture for the cable but is a bit rough since all channels fluctuate. The remote is cool but i do miss the short cuts on the older remote. Still getting use to it. 3d is awesome, watched Avatar on this because of the upscaling and you could definitely see much more detail and color. If anybody has recommendations for pic settings please comment. Still messing with the cable picture settings.

Simply amazing for Movies and Xbox One. A must for

I purchased this TV about 2 weeks ago and I can't say enough good things about it. The picture is so clear that it makes you wonder how you lived with 1080p beforehand. But I will warn you it takes some time of working through all of its features before you get this picture. Out of the box it looks good but give yourself an hour or so and you will not believe the difference. If you have a Xbox One or PS4 you will see a drastic difference as well. I play Destiny on Xbox One and it looks amazing. One thing you will have to do with FPS or action games is switch over to game mode every time. Without this switch you will notice a substantial lag that will make for a not so pleasant gaming experience. Once you switch over to game mode though it looks amazing. The vivid picture does change a little bit but im sure it is to account for the refresh speeds. I did an awful lot of research before buying a TV in this price range and through all my reading I saw that Hight Dynamic Range (HDR) was extremely important to future proof your investment and this TV has it. The other model I looked very closely at was the new Sony model in the same 55 inch set. Both had amazing picture but the HDR coupled with the slightly better picture in my opinion I chose this model. I know many people say there isn't much 4K content out right now and that is fairly true. But I have watched a fair number or blu rays the past two weeks and they look stunning. I turned on the UHD upscale and it creates a far better picture than my prior 50 inch LED 1080p TV. One that was particularly amazing was Lucy. The colors are so vibrant its hard to look away. I hope this helps people looking at this TV and I am happy to answer any questions you might have as it is a big investment for most and the technology can sometimes feel intimidating to some.

I don't think this brief review will land me too much popularity for those interested in this TV, but I just wanted to give a quick opinion. I'll be comparing this Samsung to the Sony KDL65W850C since those were the two TVs I was considering. The colors for indoor and night time scenes looked washed out on the Samsung. Outdoor scenes were vivid and appealing. However, the majority of the content I watch is not outdoor imagery with bright contrasting images... leaving me unsatisfied with the washed out colors (i.e. night time scenes, talking scenes indoors etc.#. The previous TV I tried was a Sony KDL65W850C #55" android TV with Triluminus#. It was about $400 cheaper at $1599.99 #Samsung was $1999 at the time of this review# and had a much better panel with the Triluminus technology. While the Samsung had slightly better speakers, a thinner form factor, more responsive #OS/processor# and way better remote, I couldn't tolerate the screen. So back to the Sony KDL65W850C. While the Samsung did have a very very bright screen, it appeared reflective #the screen itself... not necessarily the images from the screen# in comparison to the Sony. The Sony had an "orange peel" finish that didn't offset picture glare/quality with brightness. The nail in the coffin for me however were three "hot" pixels side by side out of the box with a slight nick on the Samsung screen. The hot pixels were a constant green color. The reason I traded the Sony for the Samsung initially was because I thought the SUHDTV was going to be much better than Sony's seemingly dated Triluminus technology and it had much higher reviews. Don't let the reviews fool you though. Nearly all of them say the screen is great, but people were upset about the delayed upgrade for Netflix, Hulus pluse, etc support. Also, the Samsung supposedly displays many more colors at ten bits compared to the Sony at eight bits, but as I said so many times the glare was terrible for me. I also had a bit of backlight bleed #blue in color#. One final note, the Sony had much deeper blacks #images# and borders in wide screen mode. While the Samsung offers a technology that can activate and deactivate LED lighting zones, the Sony didn't need it. That's because Sony appears to use a film that cuts back on the ability to see light bleed. The reason I gave this TV #Samsung# three stars is because of the sound quality, intuitive remote, OS/processor. The glare, back light bleed and reflection from the screen finish were lacking. One of the most important features in a television is overall picture quality; especially at around $2k for a 55" television. I hope this review helps those trying to make up their minds on what television to purchase and if the SUHDTV technology is worth investing into. It's not in my opinion. However, I can only recommend you stop by and look at some store demos. Unfortunately for the demos, they won't be set up in the same mode and environment as when you get it home. Just something to be aware of.

Is this real life? Or is this just fantasy?

So there I was, turning on my television for the first time. What can I say, it gave me goosebumps from head to toe. It's like the feeling you get when you get the USB to fit first try. After I got it all working, I put in Lord of the Rings. I can now say that half of my living room is destroyed because for a good two hours of the film, I had literally thought I was fighting with the Fellowship. I had sworn it was my duty to take the ring to Mordor to destroy it. IT LOOKS THAT REAL! I cried as Boromir died, like he was my own brother. He was getting shot right in front of me and there was nothing I could do. I soon learned it was all just a movie, and I realized how much damage I had done, but by god, the clarity was worth it. I really want to watch Star Wars, but I'm afraid of getting into the moment and cutting off my hand, may just be worth it to see Anakin Skywalker's burnt face in high def. I would recommend this to anyone that has the money, and no friends.

At first glance I was in love but now just heartbroken. The tv has great picture but just won't stream. Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, pandora, etc will work fine for a week then no more. I have to keep factory resetting the tv so it can work for another week. I tried using wire and wifi connection no difference. Hate this tv.

Bought this tv from best buy as an open box. I'm leary of open box merchandise but this was such a great deal. Got it home and didn't work! Called samsung and found out the one connect mini was bad, 2 weeks before I could get another one from Samsung! This was the day before the super bowl! In swoops best buy to save the day, they gave me a new mini and I was watching my new 8500 within the hour! Thank you best buy! Despite the mini malfunction I'm well pleased with this tv. The picture is amazing, the color ,the clarity and even the sound is better than I expected ( have a surround system anyway)! C net had all the settings to tweek it out. I gave thi 5 stars despite the problem with the mini because this tv is that awesome! I give best buy 5 stars as well!

Great TV, easy setup, still evaluating remote

I did a lot of looking when I decided to buy a tv. The OLED tv's are still way to expensive for me, so I tried to find something as close as possible. This TV truly amazes me. Out of the box, it was very easy to set up. Since I am not wall mounting this tv, I found the "one connect" box to be very nice, and allowed me to hide the wires very easily. Some people complain, with wall mounting, that the cord is too short on the one connect box. When I turned it on, it walked me through the setup process very quickly. The picture is truly amazing. The blacks are so deep, and with the 240 refresh rate, it does very well with sports. There is a setting you can select when watching sports, which adjusts the contrast and the audio, which is pretty cool, but I was watching a soccer match and the grass was almost awkwardly green. I'm looking forward to watching some other sports to see how the setting works out . The only issue I'm having is that I can't seem to get the smart remote to control my xfinity cable box, but I'm thinking it might be because I have the box running through my xbox one first. I'm going to try to separate them, and see if that helps the process. The smart remote has voice control, and can be used like a "wand", if that makes any sense. It's pretty cool. Overall, I just look at the picture in relative amazement. I go back and watch older movies because they look so much different than when I watched them on my old "hi-def" lcd tv. Hope this was semi-helpful

The quality is great, but set up is confusing along with randomly shuts off, sometimes doesn't open what we want it to. One day didn't start up until 10 minutes of trying to turn it on and just got black screen but light behind it.

    Disappointing from Samsung fan

I prefer to buy Samsung, I've always had good luck. My previous 3 Tvs and my front load washer and dryer are all Samsung along with 4 bluray players. With that being said I've tried two of these out and ended up exchanging the first (magnolia came to my house and picked it up and dropped off a replacement), ultimately I returned the second 1st one, no tv apps for over a week, TV would say preparing TV, try later Blur, ghosting on moving objects was horrible, objects didn't even move that fast Dark scenes are horrible, you will notice a dramatic darkening and lightening in the background, dramatic enough to distract your viewing While watching Netflix, the playback would freeze, you would have to shiutdown the TV and restart, happened several times, I never used wifi, used Ethernet cable The background black was horrible, it would be dark in the center and lighten as it moved towards the edge of the screen. Remote cursor was erratic Switching inputs and universal remote are difficult to work with 2nd TV had many of the same issues as the first but was a huge improvement from the first.... The black background was actually black throughout entire screen The ghosting/blur was still present in certain circumstances but much better It still would periodically freeze and have to be shutdown, not as often Dark scenes would still lighten and darken throughout scene Operation of remote was much better, but switching inputs and universal remote still sucked I agree with other posters, the silver border was distracting and seemed out of place The remote and functionality of switching inputs is not convenient The screen produces horrible glares When it worked like it should the picture was stunning, but for $2k it had way too many issues and glitches for me to be comfortable to keep it, maybe I just got two bad ones in a row, but I doubt it. For the time being I went back to my 8 year old Samsung plasma with a touch of color border...lol. If I decide to try another it will be the Sony xbr55x900c, but not until the price goes down to $2k

Highly rated and I have purchased Samsung in the past. 1 month after the warranty ran out the tv went out. Ok you would think well I just got a bad product. Except for the fact I purchased a top of the line Samsung tv just 2 years before this one and it to went out 1 month after the warranty went out on it. I will not only never buy any Samsung product of any kind again I will tell anyone who asks me or will listen to never purchase anything Samsung.

I will say I did some some serious research during my time looking for a TV and this is as close to perfect as it gets. It is absolutely amazing for watching sports. I watch a lot of hockey and it's so hard to find a TV that does a great job with picture quality, and this TV does just that. It was well worth the price tag for the quality of picture and the color is absolutely perfect. I noticed a lot of reviews don't mention a much about sports so I wanted to tell everyone that no matter what you like watching, this TV will be perfect. I did recalibrate the screen for an even better picture which I strongly recommend with any TV. The 120hz refresh rate is perfect for gaming as well. Basically no lag what so ever.

If you're buying a new TV and wondering if 4K is the way to go, then you should definitely do it. We purchased this set and are extremely pleased with its picture, adaptability, and absolutely love the 3D upscaling. While the external aspect of the HDMI input does take some getting used too, it adds value to the connectivity possibilities when mounted upon our wall. Paired with a five foot Monster HDMI Gold cable, even our cable appears greater than 1080P. Pros: lightweight, 3D Upscaling, touch or voice controlled remote, quick SMART applications Cons: silver in color, external HDMI connections, lack of buttons on the remote (but you will easily become accustomed to using the pointer system)
