Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bought this TV and I must say it is great. The colors are bright, the blacks are black it looks awesome. the remote takes a little getting used to as it doesn't have your traditional numbers on it. A few things I have noticed though, If you have a bright light behind you it will reflect off the TV and may affect viewing. If you plan on mounting this TV on a stand or wall mount that you already have you may need to purchases new screws for the back mount. It does not come with them and if your old TV was like mine it used smaller screws. If it had those screws this TV would have easily been a 5 star rating. Yes I know it sounds trivial but finding the screws required going to 3 different hardware stores as I was not going to buy a whole new wall mount.

Incredible tv at great price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this tv on black Friday after returning a piece of junk lg and could not be more satisfied, the picture quality is amazing and for the price for a higher end Samsung it can't be beat. It has all the bells and whistles including Bluetooth. Smart features are incredible also. 4k content looks stunning and even upscaled content looks amazing. Spend the extra money on this and you won't be disappointed. Do not buy lg 4k tvs unless they are oled. The other ones are horrible

Awesome TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV about 3 weeks ago to replace an older Samsung LCD and am 100 % satisfied. Best Buy in Arvada, CO, was great to work with. I was deciding between this and another Samsung model (cheaper by $300) and glad I went with the 8500 and spent the extra money. Slick, smooth, clean, fast, smart, beautiful picture, and fits the room well (even my wife likes it). I have a year old Samsung 65" 7500 that I love and this TV is better.

Although a bit expensive, excellent TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was not sure I would be happy with this, given the price. However, I like it in every way. It is excellent for watching TV, excellent for watching DVD/BluRay material, and excellent for watching MP4 from a USB stick. The upscaling seems pretty decent. I like the remote, including the "pointer". I also like how my Dish box was automagically found. I definitely recommend this product.

Beautiful Picture, but needs some design improvem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We traded in our Sony 850C for this TV. The picture is absolutely beautiful, and in my opinion, superior to the Sony. However, the remote controls are poorly designed. The smart remote does not have a mute button and the volume control buttons do not work with my LG sound bar. Navigating this TV is not as easy as it should be, either. The Sony was far superior in that regard. If you can ignore those problems, it's a great TV.

Excellent overall, but some issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this from Best Buy when it was still $2000. Overall, I'm very happy with the TV. It looks spectacular with high quality BluRays and some HD content. I have DirectV, which broadcasts in 720p. Some of the channels don't look great, some look really good. That is more a matter of the signal; going into the TV than anything else. It upscales well. I play both PS4 and Xbox One games on it, and they look fantastic. There is a slight input lag compared to Plasma, but you get used to it very quickly. Game Mode reduces lag, but also reduces the image quality, so I don't use it. Destiny, Star Wars Battlefront, Tomb Raider all look incredible. The TV's speakers are OK, not great/not bad. I bought a BOSE Bluetooth speaker which is compatible, and the sound upgrade is huge. So far so good, right? The only issues that I have seem to have come during an automatic update that was sent to the TV by Samsung, purportedly to improve some of the Smart functions, etc. Since the update, my One Connect Box (you connect all of your HDMI cables to it and then connect the box to the TV) has started acting up. The TV literally will not "sense" that one of the inputs is on, be it PS4, Xbox, BluRay, etc. The only way that the input will pop up in the scrollable banner at the top of the screen is to reset the One Connect. Also, since the update, when I change inputs while the TV is on, that banner that lists the inputs will not go away unless I turn the TV on and off. Also, that Bluetooth speaker that I mentioned before, the BOSE, has intermittently stopped connecting to the TV after the update. It does usually connect, but it takes a while. This only started happening after the update. I called Samsung, and they owned up to the likelihood that the update caused my issues. They said that there might be a patch that would correct the issue, but that it could take up to a month to release it. Now, I'm not going to let it drop, obviously, and if they don't release a patch that fixes this, I will be on the phone with them again. It's just annoying. I hate that you get these automatic software updates. Especially when an update is probably the cause of the only issues that I've had with the TV. Overall, I'm satisfied, but I really hope that my issues are ironed out soon.

Best TV I have ever owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced a previous gen Samsung Smart TV with this one. I had a Roku 3 and a WDTV Live media player attached to my older Samsung. This TV eliminates the need for those. Not only is this an outstanding 4K TV with upscaling of 1080p to 4K, but Samsung has finally made a truly Smart TV. Netflix, Starz, HBO, Amazon, Showtime all work. Web browser...works. Youtube...works. Oh, and Netflix has 4K content specific to this TV (House of Cards, Hidden Tiger, Daredevil). I wish HBO GO would put Game of Thrones out in 4K!! The TV also plays streams from any format MKV, MP4, AVI, MPG). Perfect. Anybody want to buy a slightly used Roku 3 or WDTV Live?

Sound issue
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound drops out for a second or two every few minutes. The cable company says it's a TV problem and Samsung says it's a cable company issue. I have spent a lot of time trying to resolve this and it is still happening. Very frustrating!

Hockey never looked so good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV makes everything look like a picture. Love watching hockey and videos from YouTube and Netflix. 4K is great. The upscaling makes video games and old movies look brand new. Can not beat it for the price. Watching TV( fast action) with the higher refresh rate is unbelievable

Excellent TV upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been researching to purchase a new TV in recent months. I had previously owned a 47 LED Vizio which was excellent but was having issues randomly turning off or speakers would not work intermittently. I researched and Samsung always came up with great reviews. I was hesitant at first to purchase a 4K TV but everyone is saying that you are future-proofing by buying this TV. I guess it's true since the set comes with the connect box that can be upgraded and not worry about the inputs. I watched the price and when it dipped to a level I was comfortable with I pulled the trigger. Set it up with recommended settings at rtings.com and it has been working perfect. Set up my streaming services via the TV to cut back on the the added cabling and the TV flies. I recently mounted this TV to my wall and it looks even better than compared to the stand. I recommend this set over UHD just because with SUHD you are guaranteed a Sammy panel on the set.

Great 3D TV day or night
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first active 3D TV; previous TV was passive 3D. The 3D was very vivid during the day with the lights on. The clarity of the picture is amazing; blacks are black and colors are very brilliant. My only reason for not assigning the fifth star was because I had to perform a reset on the TV in order to get all of the functions working properly.

Replaced a 12 year old Sony
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We replaced our tv that had lasted us 12 years. We wanted a larger screen that would enhance our viewing pleasure (especially sports). The screen is almost too good. It has taken us a while to get use to the visual images. I balked at the price, but my husband assured me it would be worth it. We were told by our son to buy a Samsurg so the controls would be easier because we already had 2 newer Samsungs in the house. The major problems are the remote and channel switching. We use a cable box from TW and there is such a long pause between channel changes it is almost not worth switching. The other is the remote, it doesn't work most of the time (I find myself resetting it often) and not very user friendly. Sometimes the remote pointer activates when selected other times it doesn't. We added the Samsung sound bar package, this did improve the sound but added another controller to the mix. The sports feature isn't that much of an improvement and we usually switch back after a few minutes. There is 3D with this tv but who wants to wear 2 pair of glasses for this feature. We will probably never use it. Overall, it is a great tv, just wish there was a better controller or maybe 2, and I hope they can figure out the cable box channel problem.

Died within a month/ One connect is horrible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TV just died within a month. For such an expensive unit, you'd expect better quality control. Also, the mini one connect box is horrible and flimsy.

5 star TV, 1 star deduction for customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just got this delivered and the delivery guys did the basic hookup which is included in the delivery. But they can't make it run. First, the TV can't detect the one connect mini. They don't know what to do so they called Best Buy and the lady told me that she would send a technician over to fix the problem. She said she'd call back for the appointment for the same day. I waited an hour, no call back. I called Best Buy customer service and there was no order for a technician. And the guy I talked to was beginning to sell me services instead. I said I could just do it myself with instructions over the phone. He tried to get Samsung for me to talk to but he can't even contact them. He ended up just giving me samsung's number so I could call them myself. I re-did the initial hookup and cable connections while waiting and I was able to make the mini connect to actually connect. Then, the remote won't work. It would only turn the tv on and off. I read the manual, nothing. I called Samsung and their customer service people are no better. After telling the person, the remote only turns the tv on or off, she asked me if I put in the batteries. What?!?! After putting me on hold, while she researches what to do, she was finally able to tell me that the remote needs to be paired or something. I just hope it was on the manual somewhere.

Excellent TV!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned the Sony XBR55X850C for this set. This set was superb out of the box.. Competes very nicely with LG OLED, and it's 4K. The 3D is very nice on this set as well. Your 1080 content up converts to 4K very well. Very pleased with this TV, I was lucky to get it for $1,999 after a price drop.

Samsung JS-8500 FXZA
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This television is far beyond what I expected upon taking it out of the box...It took less than one half hour to mount and hook it up completely WITH the most recent software/firmware update...Samsung is hands down "Maximum Quality" on all of the products they make...The 3d is beyond beauty...the set itself is absolutely gorgeous...colors pop (right out of the box) and with little tinkering with the factory pre settings (from the average naked eye)...This 8 series set also has the HDR, it also has a "Sports setting" that shows the vibrancy of "what this Samsung 8 series CAN do" and the remote (which has a click and point setup) which is really sophisticated with an "all in one option" of running AND controlling multiple devices from cell phone, laptop, Playstation 4/X Box1 and the "MUST HAVE" 4k player...I am very very deeply impressed and very very most satisfied with just using the 3d bluray from the Playstation 4 at 1080p (just waiting very patiently for the full 4k bluray player at April's end)...a perfect 10 for me on Samsung...I upgraded to this set from a 2012 Samsung ES6500 fxza which was and still is a very beautiful, which also was on the "so called lower tier television at the time"...If it was? It also was quality...but not like this JS8500...THIS television as well as the the entire JS Series are what all companies should strive for..."Complete Exellence" and "Superior Quality"...What really gets me? If Samsung comes with their own OLED? Samsung will take the top spot from LG and their OLED series of televisions...Samsung is only second according to the (statistics) ratings.com...I absolutely love my "Sammy" and the fact that all I have EVER owned was a Samsung cellphone and have the keyboard to match the television and the fact that the 3d glasses I bought in 2012 work with this new set...The accessories never changed! They match perfectly!! If I were to give Best Buy credit is the fact that one, I worked with the salesman before at a different job so I know him, and two, the fact that he gave me a great deal on this television...I trust Best Buy but really really trust completely and faithful to Samsung, and how well that company builds an exellent product...-J. Awesome TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read many reviews about various 4K TV's and I was originally going to buy a Sony until I went buy Best Buy and talked to a rep about buying. He showed me the Sony I was interested in and then showed me the various Samsungs available. I was completely blown away how different the color and quality this TV was compared to the less expensive ones. After much debating my options I decided not to be a cheap scat and bought the more expensive one. I am glad I did I am stoked with this one and made the right choice.
