Excellent TV except for one thing.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After viewing other brands of 4k 55" TVs it was obvious that this TV had the best picture. The one problem with it though, is that this TV has no variable audio output out of "any" of the connectors, so if you want to control the volume level of a wired external device such as a stereo, sounbar, etc. via the TV's remote control it cannot be done. So you are forced to use two remotes or get out of your chair to turn down the knob on your old school hi end audio system, or purchase a Samsung compatible external audio system. That's too bad for such a nice hi end TV, but I plan to keep it based solely on the picture quality and since the last 2 (top of the line Sony and Sharp) TVs that I purchased were inferior, and got returned. If you're looking for the best picture quality on a 55" 4k TV, and can live without the variable audio out, don't waste your time with the other brands like I did and buy this TV. You will not be disappointed. I would have rated it 5 star had it not been for the lack of the variable audio output and the poor sound of the built in speakers. If you are interested in this TV consider budgeting for an external audio system to make up for the poor sound. :)

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well I've had this TV for about 2 weeks now and I'm really enjoying watching it. I have not tried to get on line with it except to install the latest software for the TV. I have watched several 3D movies on my Samsung 3D Blue Ray player and they are fantastic it feels like things are going to hit you in the face. I'm not crazy about the remote I think they could have done better. with it. All in all it is a very good TV and I would recommend it to others.

Best Samsung Smart TV Ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were visiting neighbors recently to watch football and were blown away by the new TV that he bought. He had some a lot of research before buying it and was very happy with it. We had him give us the the model number and looked for it online. Sadly for our neighbor, we paid much less. The price dropped by $400 between Saturday and Sunday because of an early Black Friday sale, so we immediately went to our Best Buy store and bought one. We haven't installed it yet because it's going over the fireplace, but we're hoping to get over the learning curve quickly.

A human-factors nightmare
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading many reviews, I purchased this 4k TV to replace my old 40-inch Sony. The Geek Squad delivered it, but at the last minute I decided not to have them haul the Sony away. My system includes a Comcast cable box that feeds into a 4k-ready Sony receiver/amp. The TV remote is very small, and has just a few buttons that serve multiple functions, depending on what mode you are in. The buttons are small and it is hard to tell which is which unless you hold it under the light. In the wrong mode, the left arrow tells the Comcast box to rewind the show for several seconds. The "menu123" button does not take you to the menu, but to the center button (5) of a numerical pad. From there you have to either use the arrow keys or a clumsy optical pointer to access several functions that are arranged along the top or down the side of the screen. One is the "menu" that allows you to make adjustments. All this is exasperating, especially if you hit the wrong button, which is very easy to do. I find that if I adjust the picture for night-time viewing, then when I turn the set on the next morning morning the picture is too dark. The TV and the Sony receiver apparently do not talk the same language. If I am watching Comcast when I turn the set off, it does not give me Comcast when I turn it back on. I finally found the default automatic-on Smart Hub setting and turned that off, but when the TV comes on it still does not automatically switch to cable. There are a few 4k videos available on You Tube, but the only ones worth watching that I found were travelogs. The browser is really terrible. The picture looks impressive when I have it adjusted right, but I should not have to re-adjust it. In a different context, I am sure this set would serve some people well, but who wants to fiddle with 3 remotes (in my case, Comcast, Sony, and the very small one from Samsung) every time they sit down to watch TV? I think this is what happens when you turn everything over to the engineers. Samsung needs to raid Apple for human-factors experts. If you think I am just a technophobe, I have used computers for more than 40 years and have a PhD on cognitive science. That is why I am confident that, by employing people with the right expertise, Samsung could do a whole lot better. The Samsung is going back to Best Buy. I'm glad I did not surrender the 40-inch Sony.

Great TV, flawed remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TV itself is great, setting up is a little different. No 4K really available, and I wouldn't pay DirecTV to do an installation wherein the only 4K content available is via pay per view. Though supposedly, you don't need a receiver anymore as this TV would act as a receiver. I still need to custom adjust the TV, but it's hard to do it with the so called smart remote as it starts to fast forward or skip chapters on the movie. There is a slight jagger when watching TV, but it can be minimized when properly adjusted. As for the designer of the remote, they need to go back to the drawing board.

Blown away
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a Samsung TV customer for over 10 years and I recently went from the un60f8000 which is an amazing set. I tried going with the entry level 4k from samsung but my eyes are use to the 8000-9000 series so i returned it and went with this one instead. I love the brightness from the edge lit back-lighting. The 4k upscale to Netflix is outstanding! I would have loved the curved version but I could not pass up 1,999.00 deal.

Awesome TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to setup, awesome picture out of the box, did a little tweaking to get pic settings to my liking.. Prior to this TV I purchased the Sony XBR55x850C but was not happy with pic quality, so I returned for the Samsung 8500 has much better pic and sound quality.

In Love.....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV a week ago in Delaware (I live in NJ and saved $105 sales tax) but since I could not justify spending $1500 for a TV, and also that Comcast doesn't support 4K yet, I had thought about returning it for a cheaper model, but the more and more I watch this TV, its just perfect. I love watching my music videos on YouTube; its like I am at a live concert and the performers are with me in my bedroom. And last night I watched Terminator in 3D, the picture and special effects were spectacular. I will be getting a sound bar or a speaker to put behind my headboard on my bed; it doesnt really need one but I love music and "good sound". I purchased a keyboard too for it last night and will try that out tonight. The only issues I have is that the remote doesnt light up all the time; seems like it just lights up when its dark in the room, but the navigation with the remote is fairly simple once you get used to it. The other issue I have is that Samsung should have put more holes in the back of the TV for mounting/hanging, because after I hung it on the wall, I realized that it needs to go up about 6" and instead of being able to adjust the bracket up and down, I will have to drill more holes in my wall. Other than that, its a beautiful TV; and the silver goes great with my decor so with all this being said, I will be purchasing another one (probably bigger) for my family room. Technology rocks!!!!

Create SUHD for Sports
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just purchased and setup was easy and quick. The sport mode and picture quality are amazing. Didn't think I would like the external smart hub but it really shines with connecting laptops and USB thumb drives. Internet browsing was a bit tough and not all sites supported the built in browser. Love the television

Worth the investment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am partial to Samsung TV's. I had been researching for weeks trying to figure out what was best OLED or LED 4K. I went to Best Buy and talked to a salesman. I decided the potential for burn in and my desire to stay with Samsung were enough to purchase this model. It took me 3 days of calibrating to get the perfect picture. I did experience juddering but I believe my last calibration took care of it. The picture is stunning. The Apps are fluid, I use Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime. I am pleased with it so far. I went from a 46" to 55" so that was an adjustment, but a positive one. If you love Samsung and are looking to upgrade but not get the 9000 series this one will be perfect.

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv is great. I was coming out of an LG 720 dpi LCD tv that was old and served me well. I was looking into another LG when I came across this at Best Buy on Black Friday '14 and I thought the picture was great and the price was awesome as well because it was on sale. I always new Samsung made great tv's and I thought I would step up and give it a try. Never regretted the decision. We don't use 3D, but did give it a try once and it was cool to experience. We love the screen mirroring feature if you have a Samsung phone as we do. I am contemplating on buying a second one of these for gaming purposes except a little bigger.

Well Worth It!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this TV for about a month and I couldn't be happier. The picture is superb. Great colors and crisp detail. I looked at many 4K TV choices, and I feel that this one is the best bang for the buck.

What an Excellent TV!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased my 8500 series 55" SUHD 4k 3D TV for my room and I couldn't be any happier. Although TV providers aren't broadcasting 4k, the picture is phenomenal. Deeper colors, with black being the hardest color to produce within the Light emitting diodes (LED), you can definitely notice a difference in deepness/sharpness in comparison to my 60" 7100 series 240hz for example. Very slick design and hands down the greatest tv on the market. I would highly recommend this television to anyone! Be sure to understand that 4k only needs 120hz to operate and samsung's "motion rate" (120 or 240) is NOT measured in hz, they are two separate numbers. It is Samsung's ratings that pertain to their "motion rate". Just keep that in mind when doing your research. Not going to lie, I was confused at first! All in all, you will NOT be disappointed with this television!!

Mini Connect is a downer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reason for the low rating is the mini connect which makes it very difficult to wall mount. You will have exposed wires unless you want to open up your wall. To use the mini connect you will have wires hanging down from the back of the TV. The mini connect is a small box about 3" X 5" X 1/2" and will not fit behind the TV when wall mounted. It uses a proprietary cable that connects the mini connect to the TV (included). The TV does not have an HDMI connector on the back of it, you must use the mini connect. In my case I use an audio video receiver, and have all my components (DVR, etc.) HDMI cables plugged into the back of it. It has a single HDMI cable out, and I plugged that into the back of my older Samsung TV. If you are wall mounting you need to take into consideration the mini connect box. We ended up using the enclosed stand and it sets on top of the AV cabinet. Now my front speakers are too high. Again not an easy task as I need to open the wall up to move the wires. Other than that a great TV with an excellent picture.

Absolutely Superb
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive owned samsung televisions since the 4000 series, that tv is still working perfectly. This tv is absolutely stunning. the colors pop and the blacks are deep. I love how quickly it turns on. I also love that the tv doesn't have any ports. They have a little display box that comes with it. there is one cord that runs to the box and all cdmi, lan, optical and ir ports are in one place. it even has a usb 3.0 port. perfect for me to watch 4k movies that are uploaded to my portable hard drive. Speakers are mediocre, like all slim and curved televisions. but i paired mine with a sonos 5.1 ;-)

Perfect!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just bought this TV and after 5 minutes it is already a huge improvement on the Sony. I originally bought the Sony Bravia 850C (on Black Friday, today is Cyber Monday) and instantly noticed the sports were very grainy even on the "live football mode" and I was unsatisfied. I returned it and chose this after some further research. I've had a 46inch Samsung LED 1080p for the last 5 years and the Sony wasn't much of an improvement, but this is a huge improvement on both! It was easy to set up and the 4K content is amazing. I haven't used the 3D yet but I am sure it is great. I also have a Sony 2:1 HT-NT3 soundbar set up with this and it is outstanding!! Very satisfied customer...BUY THIS TV!!!

Best Buy Always!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it and loved it right out of the box. A few adjustments to set it up, but no big deal. Had it for three weeks and saw a $500 price drop. Called my local store and they issued a credit for $500 over the phone. No fuss, no muss. A Best Buy customer for life!
