Well worth the money paid. It’s perfect for sports and viewing in a large room with lots of light. Great at any angle. Only difficulty is the separate module which contains all the connectors. Can be difficult to hide if mounting to a wall. Had to create a spot for the module to reside behind the Sheetrock.

Never buying a Samsung product again

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this TV in 2018 for over $4000. Less than 2 yrs later, the screen suddenly turned white while watching. After weeks of dealing with their horrible customer service and weird appointment scheduling, a Samsung tech came over and told me the entire panel was bad and it would cost an additional $2000 to replace. Samsung wouldn't cover the cost because it's 8 months out of warranty (1-year warranty). And even if, I wanted to pay for the panel replacement, they don't even have the panel in stock! So it's completely unrepairable and Samsung won't replace it. This was a $4000 flagship television, how do you not carry parts for it after less than 2 years!? How does an entire panel under normal use just go bad in less than 2 years, and Samsung not take even partial responsibility for it!? I'm NEVER purchasing or recommending a Samsung product again.

I did my due diligence research, distance, seating positions, what do I want from my top-notch best Samsung 4k tv on the market ... and it fell short of my expectations. Here is why: In the store all TVs are on dynamic picture setting, blasting that brightness and sure enough, as they are positioned you will see where the differences are from one tv to another, from one step-up model to another. I was initially set on Q80 and 75" since I was about 11.5-12ft away from the screen... however, the reason I have returned this TV and got a lower model, smaller size is this: - 4k content: yes you can sit about 12ft away from it to enjoy the picture... anything else below 4k resolution, will be too grainy, very bad quality, almost no upconversion for regular cable channels. I have Xfinity, 4k X1 box (XG1v4-A), HDMI cable (cinnamon) from the cable box to one-box... changed all the options on the cable box to ensure 4k was being sent to the TV... nope... Quality SUCKED on all channels. Best was CNN, followed by FoxNews - but where the channel was good, I was still too close to see grainy sharper edges after doing the calibration a few times, few different ways... no help... 1080p 55" old TV had a much better picture than Q90 75" ... 2014 model... 6 years old... and was paid then 750$... Q90 was over $3,000 but still, it really disappointed me ... so it had to go back. - QLEDs are all about contrast, having those perfect "black" contrasting other colors, and surely it is there, it is very nice, etc. when it works the way it's supposed to - meaning, depending on the source, it will work... however, regular programming (non-youtube 4k videos) you would actually get your blacks crushed and it is far worse then I imagined. That was the reason I stayed away from Q80 I initially wanted but it seems Q90 has the same issue. - weight of the TV: SUPER HEAVY ... 115-120lbs with the stand. We planned to mount it to the wall, got the wall-mount, etc. but due to COVID19 suspended the services we could not have it mounted. So we settled on using the new tv stand... The only issue was when I was shopping for tv stand, I looked for design to match wall-mounted TV... not 115 lbs gorilla to put on it... anyway, this is my fault for not checking the weight capacity of the stand itself ;) ... bottom line, we needed THREE people to be able and manage it safely. TV spent a night on the floor, the next day it was packed and returned to buy. What did I get? I got 65" Q70r because I knew that the contrast ratio is not as cranked as it is on Q80 and Q90 models. I had to compromise on losing angle viewing and also reflection filter - but given I was replacing my 2014 55" Samsung 1080p which is now in my bedroom, I am SUPER HAPPY WITH IT!!!!!

The TV is great but I would like the opportunity to let someone know how the Geek Squad lied to us and tried to take advantage of 2 seniors. Also, the TV installers were not helpful and abrupt.

Bought this TV to replace Visio M70-C3 due to the fade caused by viewing angle. The Q90 has a much better viewing angle, but we are having some minor issues with picture movement being jagged on some input. Hopefully setting adjustments will cure this.

      Posted .

      lilengineer,

Your Q90R TV comes with Auto Motion Plus, a feature designed to eliminate blur and judder on an LED TV, specifically in fast moving images.

Here is the step-by-step guide to change Auto Motion Plus settings:
      1) With the TV powered on, press the Home button on the Samsung remote to open the Home screen

      2) Then select Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Auto Motion Plus
Note: This option may not be visible initially. Continue scrolling through the Expert Settings Menu to locate Auto Motion Plus

      3) Then Select Auto Motion Plus again, and you will see the following three options:
      a) Off: Auto Motion Plus will always be off
      b) Auto: Auto Motion Plus will automatically activate and deactivate based on the type of program being watched
      c) Custom: Allows custom adjustments and settings to be used

      4) By selecting the Custom option, you can further access these advanced settings:
      a) Judder Reduction: Use the directional keys on the remote to adjust the Judder setting.
      b) LED Clear Motion: Select to turn On/Off

I hope these tips help to solve your issues.
If there is anything we can do to further assist and improve your user experience, please do let us know by contacting Samsung Customer Support via one the following options:

Fora tv so expensive, you will think that you will get a decent sound quality/volume. To accomplish a better sound you need to spend an additional $1000 to $1500. Take it easy on us samsung. We are loyal customers but to an extent.

Picture was good but lip sync issues drive you crazy. Will be dialed in one minute and the next minute it looks like an old Kung foo movie. Called Best Buy and got shuffled around and could never get anyone to help. Called Samsung and went through a half hour trying things I already tried. He finally told me to reset it and that would fix everything. Wrong and resetting lost all my saved data. I own 4 Samsung tv’s with zero issues so I guess I was due. Google lip sync issues with Samsung q90 and see I am not the only one with this issue.

TV insists on connecting with Samsung phones

TV is awesome, great picture, etc. However, when you are watching a movie and a Samsung phone comes within Bluetooth range, it will pop up a message asking if you want to connect. It does this even if the Samsung phone owner has no intention of connecting to your TV. If you live in an apartment or dorm, a Samsung SmartTV will be completely annoying. Strongly suggest seeking another brand if you want to enjoy your shows without the "SmartTV" constantly interupting.

The only issue i have with this bad boy is that it does not support Dolby Vision. I hope, that HDR10+ is the future but it's unlikely. I'm hopeful Samsung will adjust in the near future.
