    Perfect as a second 'laptop'

This thing was rather interesting. If you can remember back when netbooks were a thing, this is the netbook done totally right. Sure, it doesnt have beefy specs or a lot of memory, but it doesn't need them due to it's unique operating system. It's called Chrome OS, and it has a similar feel to android with a desktop skin/format. Of course it takes a while to get used to but its perfectly adaptable to most people. Now keep in mind. this thing can't replace a laptop, because it's too much like a tablet. It can only run two things, the chrome browser and android apps. And yet, this non-touchscreen chromebook can run android apps. Now, it doesn't make too much sense to run too many of them, since the full desktop version of every website that has an app is available on the chrome browser. And yes, every website can be viewed in the browser, there are no flash incompatibilities that most smartphones and tablets are plagued with. In fact, this is better than a tablet, because tablets were sort of meant to bridge the gap between smartphones and laptops, but they never really did, they just did the same thing that your phone could, just on a larger screen. In fact, most tablets tend to be weaker than their smaller counterparts. Not to mention that if you need it, you'll have to pay extra for a keyboard, which this book comes with pre-attached. But this chromebook bridges the gap properly, the way a tablet should have. Not to mention how thin and light it is. This thing even has full sized usb ports and hdmi output, most tablets need expensive dongles for that kind of connectivity. Now of course, I HIGHLY recommend pairing this chromebook with a micro sd card, you can get a 128gb for a good price in most places, but other than that, this is the gap bridger that some have been asking for, just don't expect it to run photoshop or edit 4k 60fps videos on it, because it wasn't designed for that. In fact, some android games can't even launch on it. If you need to write a quick paper or need something light to watch youtube on, this is the new-age netbook you need.

Amazing laptop to gift to any student!

I purchased this laptop on Black Friday for $120, an $80 difference, and I don't regret it all! After having this laptop for a bit i ca already tell it will be a reliable piece of technology that will handle all my needs. The Processing isn't the fastest, but certainly gets the job done. The software is amazing and perfect if you're loking to gift this to a teen or young adult. It handles amazing apps and grants access to free apps like google documents, drive, and slides. WHich as i stated is FREE unlike Word, Powerpoint, or Excel (although those are certainly worth paying for). This laptop can run apps like Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Spotify, etc! Your young adult will be certainly pleased! Only minor setbacks are the keyboard, the "mouse", and the speakers. This isn't the loudest laptop, which is understandable for the price, but it is good enough for someone who isn't in a loud room. As for the keyboard, its amazing and great for the most part except two minor parts. One being the keyboard isn't lit, which makes it harder to see in low light and the other being that the pad for the "mouse" only offers one click for the left unlike other laptops which offer both left and right clicks. In scenario this means when a word isn't written correctly you can only click on it but cannot correct due to there not being the left feature pertaining to other functions.

i had been looking at chromebooks for a little while. i actually had my eye on another samsung chromebook but it only had 16 gb memory and i wanted one with at least 32 gb. when i saw it i bought it on the spot. Also for 150? can it get any better? yes it can. the screen is better than other cromebooks I have tested. I had stopped buying samsung product because their quality and price were bad (broke fast and expensive). nevertheless this item had an amazing price and quality so far. great screen for having such low resolution, the speakers are horrible that's the only downside(very low volume), 2 usb ports, bluetooth, camer, micro sd card reader(which i haven't tested), what else can you ask for? over all great product. love it, oh and it also charges fast and the battery last hours. just have in mind that this is mainly an item that needs internet all of the time(since i use it to browse and stream) since its not 100% like a pc.l ove it.

    Surface 3 to Chromebook

I bought this Chromebook to replace my Surface 3 that I've been using for 3 years now. The Surface would not charge any more. This Chromebook is about the right size that I was looking for. It is compact and lightweight. The 4GB RAM is more than enough and I have yet to experience lag time in processing. The battery will last about 8 hours and it is dual voltage so I can use it in some parts of the world without using a power converter. The battery charges in full capacity in less than 2 hours. That is a bonus. The only problem with this Chromebook is the not so good web camera. I highly recommended the Logitech C920. I bought the web camera when it was on sale for $27 a few days ago. I'm going to be travelling so it's good to have a good web camera to chat with family members while abroad. This Chromebook met and exceeded my expectations. For less $200, this Chromebook is a steal. I highly recommend it!

Review Update - Chromebook Gets Better Every Month

    Posted .

My original review of the Samsung Chromebook 3 was very positive. Since then, I've been impressed with the monthly software updates that add new features. I switched to the Beta update channel for early access to new features. Last month, the Beta channel update enabled the Chromebook to use the Google Playstore to install android apps. That lets me install some of my favorite apps that I use on my Samsung phone on my Chromebook. The Chromebook continues to struggle with printing via my old Canon printer. One solution is to send documents to my Windows computer and print from that. Google is working to make the Chromebook compatible with more printers. Most new 2018 printers will be designed to work with Chromebooks. The Chromebook is my favorite internet device because it turns on instantly and the battery lasts all day even with constant use. It is so light that I can keep it with me wherever I go. I have family members who use $1,500 Apple laptops who are now are looking at my Chromebook with a bit of envy.

If a Netbook fused with a Tablet

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have to be honest, I hesitated when considering a chromebook, mainly because I though it was just the mediocre netbook, just for 2017. Thankfully I was wrong in some respects. No, this doesnt run Windows, which made me second guess my purchase. However, Google has made a fairly nice operating system based off of their web browser of the same name. Sure, you cant really dig too deep into the file system and you can't run .exe files and so on, but, if most of your work can be done in a browser, this is the machine for you. Like I mentioned before, this is basically a netbook with a tablet-like OS. But the best part of this one in particular, you dont have to pay the price of either. And, dont think the 32gb is small, because this one also comes with a micro sd card slot, so expansion is simple. Plus, you can use most usb based accessories like thumb drives and mice. And in spite of its small size, the keyboard is actually not bad. I have had few mistypes on it, so writing your essays on it wont be problematic. Sure, there is a bit of a learning curve because of the new OS, but the best part is that you can sync it with your Chrome browser info from your desktop and android devices, which I find pretty awesome. Highly recommend for anyone that needs a simple laptop and doesnt want to buy a 10 inch tablet and pair it with an expensive bluetooth keyboard. Would be made better if Play Store was available on non-touchscreen Chromebooks.

After owning 8 to 10 PCs plus a couple tablets (Google Nexus) I thought I would just "settle" vfor a cheap Chromebook to replace a dying HP PC. I knew about what I was going to go without but I have another PC that does whatever I have to do with Windows 10-- whether I want to do it or not. The Chromebook has been just great. Not only is it good value but it is so fast and simple and accommodating to the things I wanted it for. Plus it connected effortlessly to an old Samsung 23 inch TV so it functions like a table top for me. I am liberated from Windows 10 and the keyboard I feared might be too small is just fine. I think this is the best buy I have ever made in the tech realm.
