Gear Fit2 - An Excellent All-Around Fitness Watch

This Samsung Gear Fit2 fitness watch comes with just about everything you would want in such a wearable device: a brilliant color display (under Gorilla glass I am told, Super AMOLED), slim form-fit (length, height, width), very light weight, can keep on in shower (IP68 certified). Includes heart rate monitor, GPS map-style, integrates with most Android smartphones, shows calories burned, distance traveled, steps taken and speed, floors climbed, provides a sleep quality report, automatically detects exercise type engaged in, and includes notifications for calendar, from Facebook, other favorite apps, texts, select emails. Also includes music player with 2GB available (4GB total) for approx. 500+ songs – integrates with Bluetooth headphones as a stand-alone device, no smartphone needed here. Both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are available. A variety of watch faces are also available (some free, others mostly at only $1-$1.50), and some integrate touch watch face to other screens, such as date (links to schedule for day), heart rate (links to heart measurement screen), weather (7 days, uses smartphone location). Some watch faces are sports team themes, others simple, and others even ‘trekkie’ style. This watch is great at notifying you of a caller via screen and vibration – includes tel. number or name if in your smartphone contacts. You can reject the call and send a brief one-touch response, “Will call you back”, etc. all done without taking out your smartphone. Several message responses are available and can be customized. Battery life is a common complaint, and yet exceeds an Apple watch at 18 hours and Samsung Gear S2 at 48-72 hours (states 3-4 days in specification). I personally get 2.5 days use myself without a recharge. The wristband is vulnerable to opening and could eventually come loose enough to fall off. To correct this, a number of watch band/strap loops are available online, typically less than $10. I would recommend purchasing one. If you need a second charger for the Gear Fit2, these are also available online. At $179, I think this fitness watch is a steal for what it does. Ignore many of the negative reviews for this wearable, you won’t be disappointed. It may even become your new ‘best friend’.

This watch has a company-KNOWN faulty strap that randomly falls off and as a result the screen cracks and you cannot see anymore. I tried several times to speak with someone concerning this and apparently even the warranty does not cover. This Samsung defect almost completely ruined an otherwise perfect gift.

I really wasn't all that impressed with it. I bought 3 to go with the Note 7 & S7 Edge phones I bought for my family. No one uses them and I never used mine (everything still in the wrapper). It was just a way for Samsung to get rid of a lame product. They gave it away with the phones. Now, I wish I would have just took the memory card instead.

Second day of using it and it stopped charging or powering on. I contacted Best Buy about it and they said it was common but I'd have to pay $175.00 to replace it even though It wasn't my fault. Very unsatisfied with Samsung quality and Best Buy service.
