Impressive little smart band
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for something to replace my pebble once the company got bought out and being a long time samsung/android user thought I'd check this out. I like that it's unique (neither a true smart watch nor a fitness band), and looks cool. The features that sold me were that you can store music on it and play it through wireless headphones, leaving my giant phone at home, and the fit2 has onboard GPS for tracking my routes! I love how accurate it tracks (especially sleep) and syncs with S Health so quickly and easily. Aside from the fact that there is a serious lack of fun, extraneous apps, I am loving it. There are an abundance on cool watchfaces on the galaxy store, need to do a search for "gear fit 2" and not just click on the watchface tab.

Nice Watch
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Previously had a Microsoft Band. I had that for about 8 months, then the sensors started to errode and it was cutting my wrist. Upon closer inspection I saw the whole thing was pretty much falling apart. I did a lot of research before buying another watch, and didn't want to spend more than $200. I don't need all of the inspector gadget stuff, mostly I use it for workouts, calendar reminders, alarms, step counts, etc. The watch is really comfortable, I didn't realize how uncomfortable my first watch was until I tried this one on. I hardly can tell that it's there. The interface took a little getting used to as it looks much different than MS Band. But the watch is clear and bright, great display and responsive. Like my purchase and would highly recommend for the price. The reason I give it 4 and not 5 stars, is because you have to download apps for it I think should come standard. Not really a big deal.

Better than Fitbit
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I previously owned a Fitbit that came apart over time, had limited features, and accuracy issues. I could walk the same path from day to day and get different results. The Gear Fit2 is accurate, more comfortable, and multifaceted! Still learning...one thing I learned is that when you sync with your phone and forget to put on your Gear Fit, your phone won't continuously track steps. Rude awakening! Overall it's a good product for the price!

Good if you get a good one, bad if you get a lemon
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seems like some people get a good one others get a lemon. I got a lemon. I suggest you test it really well when you first buy it. If you have any charging problems, where it sometime charges and sometimes you have trouble adjusting watch to charge; Return it immediately. Get a refund and buy a brand new one. Don't take chances on getting a bad one which will stop working after a month.

Excellent job, Samsung!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the Samsung Gear2 and got a chance to get the Gear Fit2 from Samsung. I am VERY pleased at all this "superwatch" can do! From tracking your sleep (the current watch doesn't do that) to giving you a VERY hig resolution map of your hike using GPS location, this thing is fantastic! It is very easy to wear and charges lightning fast! It can hold a charge for several days with good use, unlike most watches in this category. It offers multiple things you can track and manage with the Samsung S Health app on your phone. Really enjoying this watch more than I anticipated! Great job, Samsung!

Has all of the features that I wanted
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, I have been wanting a GPS watch / HR monitor for quite some time. I have researched many and found this to be the first with all of the features that I wanted: *not too large *GPS *water resistant *HR monitor I wasn't even expecting the great mp3 w/BT headset (sold separately) so that I don't have to carry my phone while running. I still like having my phone (Galaxy S5) with me for other activities that I track. I would have given 5 star, but the GPS does not give very good instantaneous speeds - I believe it only pings about every 10 or 15 seconds. Love it as a whole!

Samsung Gear Fit2 Fitness Watch & Heart Rate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I received our Gear Fit 2's on October 19th of this year. The first thing that I liked was the watch faces that you can download and select. You can obtain many different watch faces for free. Currently my watch face is a glowing christmas tree. The Gear Fit2 has keeps track of your; steps, heart rate, sleep, floors, exercise water and caffeine intake. Some cool features of the Gear Fit2 is it has a feature that allows you to track your phone if you misplaced it. How many of us could use that feature???? It has a stopwatch and timer along with a music player. The Gear Fit2 allows you to see a text and respond with a series of short replies to let the texting party know that you are busy at the moment. S Health is a feature that tracks your sleep, food, calories and nutrition and gives you a weekly summary. The heart rate feature tells your range and if yours falls in the normal range. There is a section that you program your type of exercise and its duration and the Gear Fit2 logs it. There is a Withings app that allows you to sync your steps with MyFitnessPal. The watch is water resistant and the band is very comfortable to wear. The price is great as you can get it on sale at some places for $129.99. The Gear Fit2 is very reasonable and offers more features than FitBit nad is a good price compared to other fitness watch prices that are spiralling out of control. Gear Fit2 holds 300-400 songs and for the price and quality it is in my opinion the best bang for your buck in fitness watches. This watch is perfect for the busy person who wants to stay active but needs a nudge now and then. This fitness watch vibrates with a nudge when you are idle for 50 minutes reminding you to get up and move. A yellow dot in the corner alerts you to notifications or phone/test messages. If you are looking for a feature packed fitness watch that is attractive and user friendly for a great price then go out and purchase a Samsung Gear Fit2 today!!!!! No disappointments!!!

Great sportwatch for a normal person :)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am currently participating in a campaign to try the new Samsung Gear Fit2. So far the design is amazing, it looks really nice with anything, I do HIIT/circuit training kind of workouts and there is not an option for that, but the HR it feels pretty accurate. I love that reminds me to keep myself moving after 50 minutes of inactivity, specially that I work in an office and I spent most of my time sitting down. I compete with my husband with the steps app which I think its a fun way to keep you moving. I really like the sleeping tracker. It is amazing to finally see why I am always tired lol, but for real it kind of give you an idea how much sleep you are getting at night. You can personalize the watch face anytime and there is a lot of cool free watch faces. Overall I love Samsung, It's an awesome watch, maybe not the best but it does the job, at least for a normal person like me that I'm not interested in high competitive performance kind of sport. Also I like that I can see my txt messages from my watch and images are pretty clear. The plus is I dont have to have my phone to run and listen to music!!!

Too much hype for a half baked product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very excited to upgrade from my Gear Fit to Gear Fit 2, there were some issues with the original that the new one promised to correct. It looked good and had glowing great reviews on the web, so I went in, traded in the original and purchased the new Gear Fit 2 with 2 year protection plan from Best Buy. At this time, still within 2 weeks from the launch of the device, I must say however, it's not perfect by any means, in fact it feels rushed and half baked, especially its software. I'll start with pros. This band looks nice, build quality seems good and the wrist bands are soft and feel nice. It's also very light, I constantly forget I'm wearing it. The screen is beautiful of course, I like the new shape of it better than the original. The new Gear app appears to be a little bit more polished too. My favorite feature so far is the charger, it's easy to use magnetic desktop stand that looks nice, charges quickly and connects flawlessly, however it still uses metal contacts, I was hoping for wireless charging capability, hoping to use it with one of the Qi charging docks I have, but no, maybe next time. Still, original Fit had the worst charging design possible, one of the major flaws of it, and it's nice to see this improvement with the new one. Now the cons. The Bad, and the Ugly. I'm surprised I'm not seeing any of these complaints in other reviews, after all, it doesn't take long to discover that this brand new device is buggy and needs an update asap (but will it get it?). Today is my third day of owning it, and so far I've discovered few issues. Main one for me is a general slowness and lagging of the device. One of the big selling points for Gear Fit 2 is the much more powerful hardware. It has a dual core 1GHz processor and 512MB of Ram, while the original Fit was only a "weak" single core 180MHz with 8MB of Ram. Well, the new Fit 2 lags, something I've never experienced with the original. If I don't use interact with the device for 10 minutes or more, chances are it won't wake up from the first press of any button, it happens to me all the time and it's very annoying, I press the home button and nothing happens, I press it again and it wakes up. Then there is this lag with alarms and music player. If my phone (Galaxy S6 Edge) is playing music, and I want to use my Gear Fit 2 to change a song or adjust volume, there is couple of seconds of delay while those devices communicate with each other, it was never an issue with the original, which was always instant. When an alarm goes off in the morning, I cancel it from the Fit 2, first the alarm will sound for 2-3 seconds before it even shows up on the band, then once canceled, there is another 2 seconds delay until it actually turn off, again, was never an issue with the original. So what's the problem? Why can't it keep up? I suspect a software update will at some point address this, so I'll be waiting. My next issue is with display orientation. A landscape mode is not an option anymore, they said most people preferred portrait view and so it made sense to them to stick with that. Sure maybe it is better for most people, but I personally like to wear my fitness band on the inside of my wrist and I have to twist it more now to operate the device, I really liked the landscape view of the original better. I doubt this will ever be addressed, it's not a bug, it's just how it is, imo, just laziness, nothing was stopping Samsung from adding it other than some time and money, so they decided it wasn't worth the investment. Fair enough. How about allowing me to flip the screen orientation upside down? In case I wear it on my right arm and want buttons on the other side? Nope. Not an option. Let's go to fitness features. On my second day of using it, while walking on a treadmill, Fit 2 "got confused" or something and stopped counting steps accurately, I tried with both holding my arm in front of me and letting it move naturally, it basically only registered one step for every 5-6 steps I made. It was not a delay in steps updating, when you first look at them, I watched it messing them up for about 5 minutes, then finally gave up and restarted the device, which seemed to fix the issue. Stair counter hasn't worked for me at all so far, I have a two story house and walking up and down the stairs few times a day has never registered any floors on the device. I've set the goal and it should be counting, but it's just not seeing it, I've actually seen this mentioned in other reviews too. Also one of the screw covers on the back fell off and is lost already, after closer examination I see that they're just little round robber covers and others will probably fall off eventually too. So here are my first impressions. Do I feel like it was worth the upgrade from the original Fit? Not sure, I just traded few flaws in the otherwise nice device for another nice device with few other flaws. If I knew it ahead of time, I'd wait, but it's too late for me now, so I'll just wait for the software update.

No Spotify
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you’re buying this tracker for its standalone Spotify support, you will be disappointed. The Fit2, does not have the Spotify app that’s pictured in the music player on some websites. It does have a Spotify app, that you can download and install, but it is only a remote control for Spotify on your phone, not a streaming application. Why does the Fit2 have WiFi at all? No idea, maybe for the GPS, but I haven’t found any way for it to actually stream music. You can store music on your Fit2, about 2GB, so that does give you music to work out with, you just can’t stream it. Other than that it’s a nice device and it seems to work fine. Battery life and all of that is subject to the way it is used.

Great deal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the Gear Fit2 for two weeks. It was included with the preorder of the Galaxy Note7. It has been working well for me so far. I like how it keeps track of my sleep times. I've only had an issue once when i put my phone in battery-saver mode. My screen locked up. But a reboot solved the problem.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This fitness band is pretty good, but still will not work with Galaxy s7 edge. I have been wearing the gear S 2, and unhappy about not reaciving text notifications. This states designed to work with Galaxy S 7. The first hour the band did vibrate when I got a text message..after that will will not. Pretty disappointed. Might be changing it for the garmin HR +.

love this except one thing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Gear fit2 when I was returning the Fitbit Surge which I didn't like for various reasons. I also have Fitbit Charge that I liked a lot until I purchased the Gear Fit2. The screen on the Gear fit2 is what caught my eye. Combined with the S Health App this is the best. My only complaint is, is that the band is not secure. It has fallen off my wrist at least 3 different times. I was lucky enough that I didn't lose it. How long is my luck gonna hold up? Today I found it on the floor in my car. Samsung should correct this problem on any new products

Great Fitness Companion
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received it last week and paired it with my Galaxy Note7 (yes, the outlawed phone, still I love it.) I do not use it as my main watch but on the right hand together with my old, simple but reliable Nike fuel-band. I love the graphics and all the available information, specially automatic activity and sleep tracking as well as the floors-up counter (although it is not clear how many feet or steps are considered a floor...) The water intake counter, steps and heart rate measuring are very useful. I wish there were more customizable home screens to choose from and - very important - that the Gear Fit2 could connect directly to the internet to upload all data - without a phone; if you change or lose the phone, you need to reset the Gear Fit2 to pair again - all past, unsynched data will be lost forever. Also, I wish it was completely water-proof to be able to swim with it and make those lost calories count! So far I would recommend this product.

A Fitness Tracker for (almost) Everyone!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Gear Fit 2 is a premium fitness tracker with smartwatch capabilities. Unlike other products in the Gear line-up, such as the Gear 360 and Gear VR, the Fit 2 isn’t restricted to Samsung smartphone owners and is compatible with all recent Android phones. Fitted with a GPS, heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyro and a barometer, you’ll be hard-pressed to think of something the Fit 2 doesn’t automatically track. The device also lets to manually track things that can’t be tracked by sensors, such as the amount of water or, more worryingly coffee you drink. In terms of activities available to track, there are simply too many to mention, but suffice to say, whether you hike, row, practice yoga, run or wish to record activity on machines in the gym, the Gear Fit 2 is aiming to be your number one fitness companion. The device also aims to encourage sharing your fitness, with Facebook sharing and the option to challenge friends who also have S Health. Now that we’ve run through the features, I want to break the review into the good and the bad. The GOOD: The Fit 2 - whether on a male or female wrist - looks great, is light and unobtrusive. While there’s no doubt that it looks like a fitness tracker, it’s far more subtle than some other designs out there. The screen is bright, with rich colours, and while the resolution is fairly average, it’s only really noticeable when you realise how little of your texts, emails and social media alerts can fit on screen at one time. On that note, the smartwatch-light approach is nicely managed. Text messages give you the option to reply with one of three ‘quick auto responses’. They are pretty useful, though a lot of my friends did start to question why I began replying to them with ‘roger that’, sounding like a World War 1 pilot. Music can be exported directly to the Gear Fit 2’s onboard storage, however as we live in an age where MP3s are becoming a thing of the past this may not be as useful as Samsung hope. I personally stream all my music through Google Play Music, which usually plays second fiddle to Spotify, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the Fit 2 gave me the ability to skip tracks from the watch with ease. Customization options are a nice touch, with a number of free-to-download watch faces available. As with all these things, there are also premium watch faces to buy, if that’s the kind of thing you want to spend your money on. In terms of activities, the watch excelled when hiking; far surpassing previous experiences hiking with a running watch. Everything from the elevation stats to heart rate tracking, followed by the surprisingly detailed summary page upon completion really give the feeling of reward after a particularly taxing hike. Finally, the battery life was certainly acceptable. My previous smartwatch experience with the original Moto360 and its barely-20 hour battery life was thankfully not replicated here. I got between 50 hours while actively tracking hikes and runs, and up to 60 hours use when only tracking general walking. While not remarkable, I never felt cheated when the battery reminder popped up. The BAD Now onto the cons. I should say, while they aren’t plentiful, one in particular for me is a deal breaker. To begin with, the app itself, S Health is, quite simply, cluttered and unintuitive. It feels like the result of dozens of clumsy additions to an aging design that wasn’t built to handle the new features and, in my opinion, feels in dire need of an overhaul. Tracking data, such as runs from previous days is far more fiddly than it should be and after a few weeks have passed, becomes so inaccessible it doesn’t feel worth searching for it. On that note, there’s zero web access, with all data restricted to the app. If Garmin Connect, Google Fit and dozens of alternatives offer it, why not S Health? It just seems ill-conceived as a whole. Beyond issues with the app, the watch has a few annoying quirks, too. Occasionally you’ll check the 24 hour log to find that the watch claims it wasn’t on your wrist for a period of time in which it definitely was. Secondly, the floors reading can be extremely unpredictable. For the first three weeks it was way off. After spending a day sat at my desk, walking no further than the kitchen or the bathroom, I was told I scaled 150 floors. I live in a single-storey apartment It has to be said, it seems to have been behaving itself more recently, possibly the result of a recent update, but it was too drastic to not mention. Beyond that, occasionally I’d wake to find the sleep analysis data was blank. It would just ask if I had been asleep for a certain period of time - no reason was given for why this might be the case. Driving with the Gear Fit 2, is frankly a pain. When I’m driving, the last thing I need is for my watch screen to flash on every time I turn the steering wheel because it thinks I’m trying to check the tie. Suffice to say, it’s far more distracting at night. Surely there must be a way to switch the screen’s wrist flick gesture off when the watch detects itself travelling over 30mph. Either way, I have found myself having to switch the wrist gesture off each time I get in the car at night, just to avoid this issue. It’s also worth mentioning that Samsung’s Tizen OS has some performance issues at times - there were a few occasions the watch froze, before finally dragging itself back from the brink seconds before it found itself being thrown out the window. Finally, FINALLY, and this is the dealbreaker for me. I wanted the Fit 2 to replace my old Garmin Forerunner 410 – a 5/6 year old running watch. And despite the fact the Fit 2 has far more sensors, functionality and a nice colour screen, there were a couple of reasons why the Garmin will continue to live on as my primary running watch. The Gear Fit 2 screen ‘times out’ after a certain period. Even if you select ‘always on’, the running stats will time out to a clock display. This means you constantly have to flick your wrist while running to just view your current stats. This wouldn’t be so bad, but with the constant motion while running, the device doesn’t even acknowledge the wrist has been flicked unless you perform a cartoonish exaggerated movement to flip the screen on. Not only that, but the Fit 2 provides each piece of data on its own screen, meaning to find your pace you have to clumsily swipe to the left to bring your stat up, then clumsily swipe back, trying not to accidentally tap the pause button - something that is remarkably easy to do. Compare this to my Garmin Forerunner, that has an always-on screen, with no wrist flicking required, and provides up to three pieces of information on screen at a tie. It knows what runner want t see and when they want to see it; whenever they want. The biggest crime, however, is the degree of inaccuracy with regards to distance covered. I took both my Garmin and the Samsung out for a run, and after covering four miles, discovered the Fit 2 was 0.11 miles behind - which is enough to ruin any training plan. When you’re training for weeks to knock a few seconds off your time, every tenth of a mile counts. Furthermore, when running a Thanksgiving 10k, I checked my pace and saw the time frantically flicking from as low as an impossibly fast 4:00 mile to as high as a 20 minute mile, all while I was running at a steady 7:30 pace. Ultimately as a replacement, the Gear Fit 2 just doesn’t cut the mustard. Despite the fact my Garmin has a screen that would look at home in the early 90s and can take a while to locate itself, the data is solid and the experience while running is hassle-free. As someone who has followed four-month marathon training plans to the letter, and hopes to again in the future sometime, the Gear Fit 2 is too inaccurate and troublesome to take seriously. It is worth stressing, however that if you are more casual in your approach to running, or simply worry less about obsessively checking your current pace, these issues may be of no concern. The term jack of all trades, master of none seems the perfect description for fitness trackers, and the Fit 2 is no different. If you have no specific expectations for the Fit 2, it’s unlikely you’ll find any reason to be disappointed, even considering some of the irritating quirks. Ultimately, at this price point, it’s great value, particularly when you consider a running watch with HRM would be double that and then some. If you want to track your activities, but don’t care about revisiting them at a much later date; if you want to increase your activity levels, but don’t have very specific expectations for it to achieve and if you want basic smartwatch functionality, but don’t care about downloading full-fat smartwatch apps, the Fit 2 is very likely to be the perfect tracker for you.

Better than most
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had several different brands of activity trackers, even one other smart watch, and I like the Samsung Gear Fit 2 better than the rest of them so far. I recently switched from just an activity tracker to this, and I am loving the difference. I loved my activity tracker, but I missed having a watch as well, and I didn't like wearing a watch and an activity tracker. I do like that the Gear Fit 2 will automatically start tracking a workout for me, that is SUPER handy! I also like that it randomly checks your heart rate, and that you can also do that manually. I have only one negative issue so far, and I am hopeful that it doesn't happen often, but I was in a 5k race a few days ago, and I set it to track my running, and it "froze" and quit tracking it after a mile. Luckily, I had my phone on me and it tracked my progress, but I was disappointed.

Mine broke after 35 days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used daily for hiking. the hear rate monitor, sleeping monitor, steps taken all seem to work well. the stairs climbed seems too stair happy and WAY over states stairs climbed on days of rest or work where there are no steps. This device states water resistant to 6 ft. I've only showered with mine. Started acting weird on a morning hike. went haywire in the shower. Samsung CS is friendly but there is definitely a communication/language barrier. Nearly an hour is way too long for something so simple.
