Great laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought mine at Black Friday price - $299.00. The original $449 price tag was a bit too harsh to me but when I saw the price drop, I jumped for it. I'm glad I did. It's a fast Chromebook and I'm a fan of Samsung. I was an early adopter of the Chromebooks and purchased a Gen 1 Samsung. That thing chugged along forever. Sadly, as with most technology, it was end-of-lifed and it received no more updates. I also have Lenovo and Dell Chromebooks. I prefer this Samsung to them both. Since I'm a huge fan of what Samsung does with their stylus, I wanted this one for awhile. I was hoping it would do everything the stylus did on the Note phones but it doesn't. It still does quite a bit but if they were to incorporate similar software onto the Chromebook, it would have received 5 stars from me. If you're debating, don't. Just get it. Maybe not at the $449 price but certainly at $400 or lower. NOTE: Amazon has a version of this laptop. Don't get it. It's 100% plastic and has the hard edges versus the rounded edges on the Best Buy version. These little things make a big difference. Stick with the version at Best Buy and you can't go wrong.

Great for every day use!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off let me say, I had a dell inspiron 2-in-1 before this chromebook. I had only had windows before and was new to Chrome OS. I have used Chrome as a browser before but that was the extent of my knowledge. I have my own business and work online every day. I am able to do heavy browsing and switching between apps without lag. It's also nice without the windows bloat wear bogging down my laptop. It is fast and very intuitive. It took me only a matter of minutes to figure out this laptop, which I love. This is perfect for anyone who needs simplistic every day use. I will update if anything new develops but for now, I'm ecstatic.

Not all I had hoped it would be
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Chromebook. I am very comfortable with any OS, mac, Windows, Linux. When I heard Chromebooks now had Linux support out of the box I decided to finally go ahead and buy one. I waited to write this review until I had used it for a couple of months so I could get a real feel for the user experience. I bought this particular model because of the size, screen resolution, and integrated stylus and the fact it seemed to get support for Linux earlier than most others. On all those fronts, the laptop is fantastic. It has great resolution. I can install and use Android apps or install Linux apps with ease. The performance is perfectly acceptable to me. So why not give it 5 stars, or at the very least, 4 stars. It really comes down to build quality and a couple of annoying little quirks that really take away from the greatness that this could be. The screen resolution is great. The display is nice and crisp.... but. There is distortion on the corners when you have a dark background like the bezel is too tight. You don't see it most of the time while you are using it, but any time there is a black background, you see it. This includes every time you open the launcher screen. It just makes the laptop feel low tier. Then there is the flex. As you carry it around, it just constantly makes noise from all the flex. It just isn't... tight. It creaks and pops and makes noise constantly. I have never had a laptop that made this much noise when you moved it around. The keyboard is solid, the trackpad is nice, but the constant creaking and popping just makes what should be a great experience feel... not so great. Even if it is sitting in your lap every time you place your palms on it or lift them off, it creaks and pops. Then, lastly is the wireless issue. You will be using the laptop and then, all of a sudden, the wifi will drop out. For a laptop that essentially requires wifi to work, this is problematic. When it happens, there will be no wifi devices visible, so the wifi is completely out. It isn't like it just lost connection to the network I was connected to. It seems to happen at random. No amount of toggling airplane mode or disabling and re-enabling the wifi will bring it back after this happens. You have to power the whole laptop down and power it back up again to get it back. This always works. Rebooting always brings it back, so it is definitely a software issue of some kind. This is totally unacceptable. It also seems to happen with bluetooth too, but not as often, or maybe I just don't use bluetooth as much. Hopefully this will get fixed in some future software update, but for this reason and this reason alone, I couldn't recommend this laptop to anyone. So in summary, ChromeOS is fine. Better than I was expecting actually. Being able to install Android and Linux apps out of the box is great. The display on this is so close to great but is ruined by the distortion in the corners when the screen is dark. The keyboard and trackpad are great, but they are ruined by the constant creaking and popping of the various plastic surfaces sliding across each other every time you shift or move. If I had paid a couple of hundred bucks for it, I could probably forgive those things, but as chromebooks go, this wasn't the cheapest out there so maybe I was expecting a little more out of it than I got. I bought this because I wanted to have a good first chromebook experience, and I wanted to try a chromebook myself before I recommended them to others. I really couldn't recommend it to anyone because of the wifi issue requiring a reboot. For me that seems to be against everything Chromebooks are supposed to be about.

It's a good computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not a tech nerd. A lot of reviews on here are not for people like me who don't really understand the lingo. I had the same computer since highschool (I'm now 25) and it finally died on me. It was a touchscreen so that's what I was use to. I decided for my kind of use I really only needed a chromebook and not a full on computer. I saw this one in stores and liked it better than the other chromebooks they had displayed. I've had this computer for about a month and a half and it does great. I mainly use it at night for youtube, news sites, pinterest etc. The battery life is great (I can keep mine unplugged for a few days at a time, granted I only use it at night in my bedroom), the touchscreen works great, the picture is awesome, web pages load quickly and I have no issues with the keyboard being "cramped" as others have mentioned. The ONLY complaint I would have is the brightness. The screen is very bright and doesn't get very dim for nighttime/before-bed use (but that's just my personal preference). This is a very small con for me and not a big deal. Overall for users like me this computer is awesome.

Fantastic Chromebook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Chromebook and I'm really impressed. I have used the V1 of this that a friend had prior to buying V2 and I can say the screen "downgrade" is greatly exaggerated. The screen is gorgeous, the keyboard is amazing and the fit and finish of the Chromebook is great. The hinges are solid and feel like they are built to last. My only concern is a complete and utter lack of accessories for the V2. No skins, no screen protectors, no clip on cases, etc. I find that really annoying. I'd love at least a skin and screen protector, but alas, there is nothing I can find on the web for the V2.

Amazing 2 in 1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this thinking it would be a nice little cheap laptop. My girlfriend has a $1,500 laptop and in the store I could tell that this didn't come close. Not until I came home with it and got it running did it blow me away, and made me think that this was better than a $1,500 laptop. It's so fast, built around google, what more would you want! The stylus feels a little cheap but it does it job and it does it great. Best laptop ever.

Enjoying V2 just as much as V1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, the updates/upgrades are not MASSIVE between V1 and V2 and I know that will deter many people from upgrading from V1, but IMO it's worth it. V2 seems much more "solid" to me, less likely to tip when I have it on my lap. I truly do not notice the change in screen resolution between V2 and V1, but I do notice that the screen does seem more responsive to touch or to the stylus with V2. I find the rear-facing camera being very helpful for taking pics while in tablet mode, SO much easier than trying to aim the front-facing camera, although the software for this is a bit "laggy" right now... it works, but you have to be patient. Overall, I am quite satisfied I made the decision to upgrade.
