It's not the fastest, but works well enough for what I need. Love how light it is, and the battery holds long.

    Touch Screen Issues

The keyboard is much improved on this version of the Chromebook Plus and the screen still looks great despite the 'downgrade' it received. Overall this would have been a great if it weren't for some glaring touchscreen issues. From the first time using this device there were oddities in the touchscreen and only seemed to get worse. I would touch something and nothing would happen, would have to touch it multiple times for it register the click. Then in other cases a single click would translate as a click/hold (right click) and pop open that context menu. Sometimes it would even select an entry on the pop up menu. I decided to try this after having different touch screen issues on the chromebook pro (would click an inch above where i pressed). Too bad i haven't had luck with these samsung chromebooks, i really want a more premium chromebook without dropping 1k on a pixelbook.

    Meh. It does the job

Just my opinion... Brought my Samsung Chrome home today. Played with it for an hour. I loaded FB, Messenger, Hulu, Fios, and Netflix. It’s very slow to log into these apps but it’s expected due to the specs. I own 2 Macs (one is 1 terabyte Mac Book and the other an air). This laptop/tablet doesn’t compare to the more expensive laptops/tablets, especially video quality. I am use to crisp and clear video picture. Since my volunteer job relies on google docs, sheets, etc.. this does the job just fine. I wanted something Google dedicated to just volunteer work. And if you are just a web surfer looking for something inexpensive, this will do the job too! WiFi connection seems steady but only time will tell as this review has been written the same day that I bought it. I have seen other reviews complain about WiFi connection on more inexpensive chrome laptops, this doesn’t seem like an issue for the hour I had it on. I will update as time goes on but coming from expensive laptops to an inexpensive laptop/tablet - I wasn’t too impressed.. yet. ;)

I bought two trusting the Samsung brand and I was pleased once again. One was for me the other for my granddaughter. Mine is for in home personal uses for just basic google surches and bills. It’s very easy to use and understand. My granddaughter loves hers for her homework. It was just over all a great buy.

    cool features but not intuitive

I got this during a black friday sale for a great price. The 2-in-1 tablet/laptop plus the built in pen make for useful features. However, the keyboard is not intuitive. There is no caps lock button (instead they've replaced it with a search button, which makes it really difficult to type). It's also a bit heavier than I was expecting, but it does feel strong.

HORRIBLE PRODUCT Don't buy from Best Buy/Samsung!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Samsung and Best Buy don't stand behind this product. Go online and research Samsung Chromebook products. Use the Product Code: XE521QAB. The hinge will break and the part will break the glass screen. Then they will say it is out of warranty as it is broken - even when there is clearly a defect as can be seen by dozens of reviews online. Samsung will hide behind warranty even when inside of 1 year saying screen broken some other way. AVOID THIS SAMSUNG PRODUCT! AVOID BEST BUY as neither will not stand behind a product that is clearly defective. Go research product to see if this is fact!

Screen Hinge Broke through the Screen

almost 3 years old. opened the display to use as a tablet and one of the hinges broke through the screen glass. it still works - i'll have to leave it as a tablet for as long as it lasts. i mostly use as a tablet about 3 times per week, so i've probably opened the screen between 500 - 600 times.

    Disappointment in the long run

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Everything was alright, but that only lasted about 7 months and then from that point everything went downhill. I was in the process of simply opening my Samsung plus and that's when the tragedy occurred- I heard a pop sound. The hinge had just popped right off through the glass just like that and no this was not because of poor handling or abuse because i found through research that many other customers have had this issue and well apparently Samsung is refusing to take the blame for this one. Now the glass is shattered also (smh) . So now i have to find someone who can hopefully get this problem fixed and spend my hard earned cash. If anybody knows where i could get a repair please message, i'll appreciate it:) #notworthit

    Screen keeps freezing

I wouldn’t recommend this laptop because I just got mine 3 months ago and the screen keeps freezing. Maybe its just the laptop that I got but for the price I paid I didn’t expect to get stress so many times thinking that my laptop is broken. I also only use this for school, yt, netflix so im sure it shouldn’t have virus or anything. I experienced the freezing of my laptop screen during the FIRST week of having it and I panicked since I bought for college purposes.

Without touchscreen...just a low end chromebook

Initially I was excited by the improvements and quality build of this Chromebook plus. It has had a few minor issues, which can be expected, but the Chromebook Plus has some major problems that Samsung will not fix. At exactly a year from purchase, the touchscreen is completely unresponsive to finger touch. Although the stylus still works, many Android apps have limited functionality. Do your own research for "Samsung Chromebook Plus touchscreen problems" before you buy. It's a common problem with many users that Samsung will not address. I was only a few days beyond the warranty, so the service center told me it would be better to buy a new Chromebook because the repair cost would be approximately $379. Samsung will certainly be my last choice for any electronics from now on.

    Poor craftsmenship

I really liked how this chromebook functioned. I previously had a macbook which was great. When it was time for a new computer i was told that because i am basically just an internet surfer and use the computer just for entertainment and paying bills, I didn,t need a MacBook. I was told this Samsung Chromebook would function similarly and be half the price. While it did function similar for what i need the device for, it was poorly built. I had it for about 7 months when the hinges came unconnected. I tried to do my own repair by just trying to put the hinges back in place but i cracked the bottom left corner of the screen, which was no big deal. When i brought it back to Best Buy i was told that because the screen was cracked that the manufacture would claim that i contributed to the hinge problem. I made the mistake in trying to save a few bucks, never again. It is a much better value to spend 1000 dollars on a macbook than spend 500 on this piece of junk. In closing, i took this chromebook to two independent repair stores and they were amazed at how it feel apart. Needless to say, both places said to scrap it and buy something new. I would add a picture but i dont know how.

    complete waste of money

Good thing these things aren't crazy expensive. After purchasing this Chromebook I used it a total of 3-4 times within a month and had to send it into geek squad because the screen wouldn't turn on. Geek squad had to replace the motherboard (which was free of charge since we purchased a years warranty). Once I received the Chromebook back I did not use it very often. I have a desk job so the purpose of this laptop for was school or occasionally web browsing at home. I probably used the laptop a total of 15-20 times the entire time I've owned it. Almost a year after purchasing the laptop screen went blank again. The charger would still show as charging but the laptop would never turn on no matter what technique you tried. So I had no choice but to send it back to geek squad once again at an $80 shipping charge. The first call they tell me they have to replace the battery. A few days later they call again and tell me they have to replace the motherboard (for the second time) and it would cost me around $300 since the warranty was expired. I declined the repairs because at that point I could basically buy a brand new one! Now I have a useless laptop that I barely got to use. I would not take the chance or waste your money on this product!!! Cheap and NOT WORTH IT!

    Do NOT Buy!

I received my Chromebook as a Christmas gift, December 2018. I had it for a year and noticed a few things that I didn't like. There is no "CAPS Lock" button or any numbers on the right side of the Chromebook, which was very taxing when it came to typing things quickly. Since I am used to laptops that have those keys. However, the missing keys made sense, since the Chromebook is smaller than other laptops that I have used. This one is more so for students (i'm a college student). But what got me was that after a year of using it, the left hinge popped out of my screen. Then a few weeks later, the right hinge pops out completely, as well. I was told by a Geek Squad Rep. that it would cost $300 to repair it. Honestly, I might as well should buy a new laptop. I have had a laptop prior that lasted me maybe 4-6 years before it died on me. But this Chromebook was a terrible purchase, and I barely even used the hinges for it to be converted into a tablet. I am currently still searching for a new laptop while my broken Chromebook collects dust.
